Okay, here’s my interpretation of the song: the girl in the song is a fan of a celebrity, and insecure with her own life, creates an online persona where she claims to know the celebrity intimately. As a brunette she is shown admiring pictures of the man, while her white-haired self is shown with a reflection of the man. Their lack of concrete interaction within the MV leads me to believe that this is simply a reflection of how she feels the man would be in a relationship, and that they likely never met. On top of that, she seems to dismiss her celebrity crush’s true nature in favor of her fantasy. In this context, I think he is the “worn out candy”, maybe showing signs of being tired or burnout. Which she sees but prefers ignore so she can see him as enchanting and alluring. Because there is such a difference to her between her two personas, she drinks and “becomes” the other, who she sees as a charming and elegant person. Besides the obvious callbacks to the lyrics, “drink” and “drunk”, she is often shown with a red, sloshing apple, held similarly to a wine glass. Ultimately, however, the two personas are more similar than she thinks, as sometimes the girl has brown hair with white bleeding through. Because she feels badly about herself and her life, she craves the attention and validation she receives as her alter ego. I think interestingly, the man she is obsessed with only has his face shown clearly twice, once in her mirror fantasy before it is shadowed over, and once on the advertisement for the event. This would also I think, make her the “bright red virgin”, looping back to the fact that she never slept with the man she claims to have. The song does seem to imply she fools around with someone but mentions a “you” that is making a big mistake. The song’s lyrics also claim that the virgin passes through without getting dirty, so either that’s all they did, or she convinced herself it didn’t count, because it didn’t hold up to her ideal fantasy, which included the celebrity she’s obsessed with. Her online persona however is dressed in blue. In the line “virgin blue”, similar in meaning in this context, I think, to true blue, true blue dedication to the lies she’s built up. This dedication motivates her to get “proof” of her claims, so the bruise on her neck does exist, unlike most of her fantasies. However, I think many people online, take her at her word, “this kind of reality is mostly in fiction” i.e., the reality she and her followers choose to believe as real is mostly fiction. I believe at this point, the girl “meets” the celebrity, by attending an event where he performs, because she has no real relationship with the man, he does not notice her, and upset by this she returns home and drinks, where as her online persona she posts something scandalous about him. The girl is almost immediately regretful and attempts to do damage control, damaging her online persona in the process, represented by the brunette attacking the white-haired girl at the computer. Because what she said was untrue, the celebrity contacts her, which ultimately frees him from her fantasy; the reflection, and shatters the mirror. However, the damage to his reputation and career is already done and he “dies”. The fan does not seem to be very upset when he “dies” in front of her, and destroys the photos of him that she loved, near the end, she smiles. I think this means that the fan got in the end what she wanted from him, the spotlight, and doesn’t regret it. As the backlash from the scandal affects her online spaces, she renounces being his fan and moves on, shedding her white-haired online persona. I believe the last two lines are in reference to the fan’s obsessiveness, which like the bruise she got in pursuit of “love”, was very real, despite the lies she told. Even though the fantasy version of events never happened, and resulted in her fantasy, the mirror being destroyed, the fallout of her love is real, and “true-blue”.

i know a lot of people are like "look its us the fans lmao" but i think its a very interesting look at this, cause in the end I dont think its actually about the romance between the Idol and the Girl. In fact, there are three girls in this MV, and the idol is never actually here. One is the Darling Blue, the other is the Bright Red Darling, who are both parts of the Girl. Red is the figment of her imagination pretending to be the singer, the real Bright Red Darling. But what Red cannot cover up is the reality of it- that she is made from chopped up little pieces of a real person, and she is just a shattered reflection. Blue's yearning is then not for her idol singer, but actually for this part of herself- the part she covers up and tries to make perfect with the aspects of another person. In the start of the song, we see that the Idol's face disappears and he is seemingly stuck within a mirror for Darling Blue. She calls him her Bright Red Darling, begging him to stay by her side- which sort of clashes with the image of her standing smugly beside the mirror, with Red leashed and holding a flower. Next we see from Red's position- they are staring into the mirror at Blue, and proclaiming their realness to her. But of course its not real- she's only pretending she's the lover of a famous singer after all, and that's clear from the start. But what's interesting then is this shot asks, who is this really? In the next scene we see who Red really is- She is the same girl, doing the work of keeping up the fantasy. Because as they have been creating this fantasy, Blue's had to "convince myself you are not like that in real life" and that she isn't perfect enough to be the one the Idol would want, while Red isn't perfect enough to act like him either. The fantasy is getting shattered slowly, as Red begins to become quite contentious of her Blue, self indulgent self. also in this scene, it seems Blue is telling Red (or the idol) to stay pure and virgin, to stay clean, but Red hates this hypocrisy because Blue dreams about "biting your neck" and causing a bruise. Red meanwhile, is aware of all the vile ways Blue acts out on the internet, and this only adds to their self loathing. On some level she knows the Idol wouldn't want this kind of person as a partner, but even this aspect of Red that is probably most like him in that regards, she has to ask "who is this person pretending to be you?" because she can't believe he would be cruel to her. It's an ironic way to break her Wonderland, self centered fantasy, because he wouldn't act so cruel- but on another hand, its a reminder he wouldnt act like any of this at all. Now then, the final segment. Red seemingly takes over blue, and kills the Idol she was pretending to be. Of course I don't think this is literal, as Red was playing a role she did not seem to like, or at the least, made her hate the idol she wanted to romance. After looking at this, Red seems sad, but a flash cut to her smiling along with the lines "Now, I am real, Darling blue" seems to suggest to me she has taken over the Girl herself to live out her own fantasy, perhaps free from the judgement and nitpicking of Blue, or has beaten back the fantasy of Blue's and has freed Girl from this none existent love. I'm not sure what the candy apple is meant to represent, but considering it fills with red liquid and is broken at the end, maybe it's red escaping the fantasy?

MVのストーリーは、白雪姫をモチーフにしていて、主人公の女性は、美人でお洒落で、ルールをきちんと守っていて、誰よりも推しを愛しているが、良い子で可愛い自分が1番好きだった。
歌詞から推しに存在を見つけてほしい、自分のことだけを見ていてほしいと思っている。推しに恋愛感情を持っていて、推しの恋人になりたいと思っていることが読み取れる。
興味をもって初めて行ったライブで一目惚れした。
行き過ぎた愛情のせいなのか、写真を切る、ダメ出しのようなDMを送るという行動をするようになってしまった。
現実の主人公にとって、ネット上の自分は、作り上げた理想の自分だった。(加工で現実より可愛く見せたり、ライブ時のおしゃれに気をつかったりしていて、髪が白なのは、推しに合わせているのと、悪の女王がリンゴを売るお婆さんに化けることからとったのではないかと思う。)

Okay, here’s my interpretation of the song: the girl in the song is a fan of a celebrity, and insecure with her own life, creates an online persona where she claims to know the celebrity intimately.
As a brunette she is shown admiring pictures of the man, while her white-haired self is shown with a reflection of the man. Their lack of concrete interaction within the MV leads me to believe that this is simply a reflection of how she feels the man would be in a relationship, and that they likely never met.
On top of that, she seems to dismiss her celebrity crush’s true nature in favor of her fantasy. In this context, I think he is the “worn out candy”, maybe showing signs of being tired or burnout. Which she sees but prefers ignore so she can see him as enchanting and alluring.
Because there is such a difference to her between her two personas, she drinks and “becomes” the other, who she sees as a charming and elegant person. Besides the obvious callbacks to the lyrics, “drink” and “drunk”, she is often shown with a red, sloshing apple, held similarly to a wine glass. Ultimately, however, the two personas are more similar than she thinks, as sometimes the girl has brown hair with white bleeding through. Because she feels badly about herself and her life, she craves the attention and validation she receives as her alter ego.
I think interestingly, the man she is obsessed with only has his face shown clearly twice, once in her mirror fantasy before it is shadowed over, and once on the advertisement for the event. To me, this means she is less in love with him as a person, and more in love with what he symbolizes for her, he really only represents her desire to be loved and accepted, in the spotlight, and could be easily replaced by any other celebrity.
Either way, she ultimately feels like she’s unworthy of affection, and does not have someone in her life, referring to herself as an unfinished product. People sometimes call their S/Os their “missing piece” as she has no one and feels like she ought to, she is unfinished.
I think her true self, dressed in red, is the “bright red darling”, a person who wants to be loved deeply. This would also I think, make her the “bright red virgin”, looping back to the fact that she never slept with the man she claims to have. The song does seem to imply she fools around with someone but mentions a “you” that is making a big mistake. The song’s lyrics also claim that the virgin passes through without getting dirty, so either that’s all they did, or she convinced herself it didn’t count, because it didn’t hold up to her ideal fantasy, which included the celebrity she’s obsessed with.
Her online persona however is dressed in blue. In the line “virgin blue”, similar in meaning in this context, I think, to true blue, true blue dedication to the lies she’s built up. This dedication motivates her to get “proof” of her claims, so the bruise on her neck does exist, unlike most of her fantasies. However, I think many people online, take her at her word, “this kind of reality is mostly in fiction” i.e., the reality she and her followers choose to believe as real is mostly fiction.
I believe at this point, the girl “meets” the celebrity, by attending an event where he performs, because she has no real relationship with the man, he does not notice her, and upset by this she returns home and drinks, where as her online persona she posts something scandalous about him. The girl is almost immediately regretful and attempts to do damage control, damaging her online persona in the process, represented by the brunette attacking the white-haired girl at the computer.
Because what she said was untrue, the celebrity contacts her, which ultimately frees him from her fantasy; the reflection, and shatters the mirror. However, the damage to his reputation and career is already done and he “dies”.
The fan does not seem to be very upset when he “dies” in front of her, and destroys the photos of him that she loved, near the end, she smiles. I think this means that the fan got in the end what she wanted from him, the spotlight, and doesn’t regret it. As the backlash from the scandal affects her online spaces, she renounces being his fan and moves on, shedding her white-haired online persona.
I believe the last two lines are in reference to the fan’s obsessiveness, which like the bruise she got in pursuit of “love”, was very real, despite the lies she told. Even though the fantasy version of events never happened, and resulted in her fantasy, the mirror being destroyed, the fallout of her love is real, and “true-blue”.

i know a lot of people are like "look its us the fans lmao" but i think its a very interesting look at this, cause in the end I dont think its actually about the romance between the Idol and the Girl.
In fact, there are three girls in this MV, and the idol is never actually here. One is the Darling Blue, the other is the Bright Red Darling, who are both parts of the Girl. Red is the figment of her imagination pretending to be the singer, the real Bright Red Darling. But what Red cannot cover up is the reality of it- that she is made from chopped up little pieces of a real person, and she is just a shattered reflection. Blue's yearning is then not for her idol singer, but actually for this part of herself- the part she covers up and tries to make perfect with the aspects of another person.
In the start of the song, we see that the Idol's face disappears and he is seemingly stuck within a mirror for Darling Blue. She calls him her Bright Red Darling, begging him to stay by her side- which sort of clashes with the image of her standing smugly beside the mirror, with Red leashed and holding a flower. Next we see from Red's position- they are staring into the mirror at Blue, and proclaiming their realness to her. But of course its not real- she's only pretending she's the lover of a famous singer after all, and that's clear from the start. But what's interesting then is this shot asks, who is this really?
In the next scene we see who Red really is- She is the same girl, doing the work of keeping up the fantasy. Because as they have been creating this fantasy, Blue's had to "convince myself you are not like that in real life" and that she isn't perfect enough to be the one the Idol would want, while Red isn't perfect enough to act like him either. The fantasy is getting shattered slowly, as Red begins to become quite contentious of her Blue, self indulgent self. also in this scene, it seems Blue is telling Red (or the idol) to stay pure and virgin, to stay clean, but Red hates this hypocrisy because Blue dreams about "biting your neck" and causing a bruise.
Red meanwhile, is aware of all the vile ways Blue acts out on the internet, and this only adds to their self loathing. On some level she knows the Idol wouldn't want this kind of person as a partner, but even this aspect of Red that is probably most like him in that regards, she has to ask "who is this person pretending to be you?" because she can't believe he would be cruel to her. It's an ironic way to break her Wonderland, self centered fantasy, because he wouldn't act so cruel- but on another hand, its a reminder he wouldnt act like any of this at all.
Now then, the final segment. Red seemingly takes over blue, and kills the Idol she was pretending to be. Of course I don't think this is literal, as Red was playing a role she did not seem to like, or at the least, made her hate the idol she wanted to romance. After looking at this, Red seems sad, but a flash cut to her smiling along with the lines "Now, I am real, Darling blue" seems to suggest to me she has taken over the Girl herself to live out her own fantasy, perhaps free from the judgement and nitpicking of Blue, or has beaten back the fantasy of Blue's and has freed Girl from this none existent love.
I'm not sure what the candy apple is meant to represent, but considering it fills with red liquid and is broken at the end, maybe it's red escaping the fantasy?
