You're a beast Peter! Building an SPL / SQ system and your knowledge is going to help me immensely. Been into car audio for almost 30 years but haven't built anything SQ oriented it in the last 20 + years. You have answered most of the questions I've had in the last six or 7 videos of yours. Definitely looking forward to watching all of your videos.
This video is gold! Thanks again for sharing info that most audiophiles couldnt even share. Definetely a lof of trial and error had to happen for your build to get where its at. Love your constant effort to push the envelope and keep bettering your sound system.
Brian I surely had to spend 1000s of hours doing all these builds in mine and others to talk about these things from experience. The said thing is that none of these things is new, but the old experts have always been secrety about these topics!
Thanks for the videos. After 30+ years in car audio, I'm finally trying to install a budget SQ setup in my car, I'm sure your knowledge will help out a lot.
Hi Peter. All the way from south africa. Thank for the advice it's going to help a lot when I redo my doors. All the problems you have mention I have. So thank you for class on RUclips
Thousands of us Americans need to listen to your information. 😂 everybody here just wants bass🔊🔊. Not gonna lie I have massive bass but watching your videos want me to completely redo my build! Keep up the good videos i know I’ll continue to watch. 👍
Peter I love your videos.... I have been in car audio since the late 80s off and on.... I am learning so much from you.... And will be starting a build soon.... Looking forward to applying your techniques.... hopefully I can get a little advice along the way.... thanks for your time and knowledge......
Hey Peter. This video was the one who make me smile a lot. I'm doing car hifi as well for some years and i really like that you showed your first aproaches to subbase installs. I totally understand and commit every single word you say and it is realy cool that you show that much and that you are so honestly with your tips. Thank you so much for your videos! I hope we will see us at the euro finals. Stay healthy! - Patrick
Patrick Yes, professionals can understand this struggle even more! I planned to do this series, so in the future i can just send the playlist to new clients, let them watch all videos and save time for myself and others to answer 100s of their questions and just go in circles! Then if someone has got to understand why SQ IS HARD, then i’m happy to give a demo, when they truly get the last brainwash! 💪😂
So nice to hear a guy that actually talk avout the things tha makes a build better, not just more watts is better lol. You really deserve more then almost 6k subs, will share you yt around here. Keep the viedos coming and stay safe from corona
I just found your Content and As a Novice to Amateur SQ competitor I really appreciate your INFO and Tips! My next Build will apply all you have spoke on! Bravo Zulu (Navy and Marines speak = Job Well Done!)
Coming back to these videos now I understand a lot more concepts and why you recommend this and not this, I could grab valuable tips and informations from this video agai' thank you Peter 😉🙏
Thanks Peter. I think i will be around 7.15 based on your vids. Helps us understand what we are looking for and what outcomes to expect. Very honest delivery of information
Another great informative video,I'm soaking all the info up like a sponge. Yes I do get excited when I get the notification of the new video lol...thanks Pete. Stay safe..
I was always too focused on the quality of the speakers, instead of the quality of the install. I learned a Lot from this video. What’s the point in having $10K worth of audio if your install won’t bring everything to life?.. Can’t wait to get into more of these videos!!
I have tried a few times to explain that aiming can be critical to various people at various times in the past, they then proceed to tell me that aiming isn’t critical when the speaker isn’t beaming, missing the point about reflections and how they do exactly what you said in the video and some sounds come from outside the speaker, some sounds come from inside, I am so glad you touched on that as people may listen, the issue is when people make sweeping statements it then becomes gospel, people ignore other statements that accompany the others and then it is set in stone for some people It not so much that a 15 degree change will make a massive difference than a sweet spot can be
I really love all of your videos. I'm new to car audio and you have given me a ton of good information. I wish I had the budget to buy the best equipment but you did say if the installation is done correctly you can get great sound. I have a 04 chrysler 300m. I just took out the rear seats and the trunk is bare. Time to sound deaden everything in the rear then I'll start on the doors. I have yet to pick speakers dsp and amp. Thanks 👍 for all the videos.
Glad I found your channel, you remind me of Mark, although you're the better European version(more profeessional), since i was looking for info on the Helix DSP pro, and you had a system built around it.
Hi Peter. Can you please explain a little why there are no dash/pilars installs that are aiming directly to the driver's and pasager's ears? Midrange/widebands/tweeters. All installs i have seen are pointed upward, some more..some less. But all pointing to the roof, not the human head. Why don't is taking into consideration the seat head rest as a point of aiming? Like in home audio i supose the best sound comes right from in front of you (in your face likewise) this way i think will also sound a bit louder, the sound wave will hit you directly and also will be a shorter distamce to travel for the sound wave. Maybe you will do a video of this topic if you consider interesting enough to share. Thanks ✌
Very appreciated to watch all these SQ tips and guidelines. Notice also there are pictures of two different cars installed the hybrid audio mid bass with IB style, does this means this mid bass qts is designed only for free air application?
Not sure if anyone else has noticed it but at 7:14 there's like a portrait of a woman in that unfinished kick panel pod, not sure if it's coincidence or was intentional.
Hi Peter. I can't understand all of your words because i'm italian so... i want to ask you... You raccomended a sealed doors panel for a single 16 cm woofer at 80hz? (Hertz mlp165.3) I watch your sub in doors and i'm love it but i want a woofer in my doors just for have a controlled bass and quality at discrete pressure level when i listen my music. Now i have 2 woofer in door and 3 layers of stp gold but i want a single 16 in sealed. Do you raccomended this things? For 3 way (mid e tweet in pillar) bi ampli (Ml power 4 and h604) all at 4 ohm with helix dsp.3 processor. Thank you for all your amazing video. I hope one day i can understand all of your explication in your videos. Enis, from pssou... ah... sorry! 😂 Enis, from Italy!
Enis Ben Slama unfortunately it’s always about the T/S parameters of the speakers and i’m not familiar with that Hertz midbass speaker, but more than likely that it would require more air, like a door application, so it could struggle in a smaller sealed box.
Good day to you Peter. The best of health to you and your family; one quick question could coaxial drivers in the dash work well or would it work better with a separate tweeter?
Dave Widebands, coaxials, yeah, sure, why not? Only weak link in most coax speakers is the quality of the tweeter and that most of them are passive, but if you have a good one, that can be run active too, then even better! 👌
Your english has a nordic ring to it, where are you from😀 really enjoy your videos👌🏼😌. Insanely cool builds. I had a sql setup in my mk4 golf. Sq in cars is a challenge for sure. The last 10% requiers extreme effort😅
Knut Roald I was born in Hungary, but have lived in South UK in the last 9years. 🤷🏻♂️😃 That 10% percent can mean all the difference! When a system is done well, most people can’t even process what’s really happening as they have never experienced anything like that! 😃
Great video peter like always! Im planning on building kick enclosures problem is every driver has a different diameter so how could you build an enclosure without being sure what driver your using?
the drivers Ive been mostly thinking about are silver flute 6.5"s ported, silver flute 8s sealed, and I own 2 pairs of JL audio ZR800s. I really want to make a kick enclosure since I have ZR800s in my doors they play low and the output is impressive but have massive dips in response from 120-200hz and rattles when cranked up.
Always great information Peter!! Thanks too you ;-), I am now building my forth A-pillar open-air pod/mount for the 3" and tweeter for the Jeep Wrangler: Q-1). With an open-air pod/mount, should the surface behind the mid be as smooth as possible with as little intrusions or deflections, does this effect the speakers performance? Q-2) If the pod/mount has formed a tunnel/pathway into the dash, and the factory dash hole is much smaller in diameter will that effect performance? P.S. from the previous video I am know debating which amplifier(s) to get next......Helix or Zapco....thanks!! :-)
Len Silvester both 1-2 are point that now many people have really tested, although there proven tests for rear baffle chamfering, so if physics works the same way, then you must keep the rear as free flow as possible. How narrow it is down to the dash is something you can not really change without cutting the shit out of the dash, so it is what it is! 😃 Rest is gonna be DSP magic! 🤘💪👌

Richard R What year in your Jeep? I just bought a 2020 a couple days ago and am about to sound deadening the vehicle and run all the wires. I’ll do the products last.

I have a question, I have a 12inch directed comp x subwoofer, its an sq subwoofer from back in the days , in the 90s, it's a frame they used on the cdt audio sq, now can I use that woofer in my 2017 prius v in the spare wheel area in an infinite baffle, can I do some small holes and still get a good effect
Appreciate the thoughts and video! Question though, for someone who is using 2-way, and only has the option of factory positions in doors... what can be done? My stupid car even has plastic mount (2021 Hyundai i30). I fear there's not much I can do...
