Today you will find edits in pretty much every single part of the internet and they are extremely popular. So popular in fact that pretty much every song released has several different versions (slowed + reverb for ex.) released as well by others just so people can do edits. Back then, I remember when pretty much you would only find the nightcore versions which is only sped up. For some reason, editing too a massive step in popularity pretty much in 2021, when Phonk was also gaining popularity and the "sigma" meme was also getting popular. This pretty much kickstarted editing to be everywhere on RUclips and mostly on TikTok. it's very cool to see that peak quality editing of 2016 (this video) and peak today (2024) it's pretty much very similar which tells us that editing has only changed in terms of average editing but not in peak, because it pretty much can't get better than this. | | Average referring to the most commonly found edits. We need to bring back edits in bo6 create a new culture for RUclips in 2024 and show them that TikTok’s can actually take skill to make lol.
