This is the second episode of our Rajasthan road trip of 2500 Kms and the second city we visited is the Famous Bikaner which is covered in this video.
We Reached Bikaner by driving straight about 200 Kms from Mandawa, Jhunjhunu. We first went to visit the most important and most visited place of the city, The Junagarh Fort.
The Junagarh Fort is the main site to visit in Bikaner, you must visit if you go there. It is easily reachable by car or any of your personal vehicle, it has large parking space inside the fort itself. You can park your vehicle just opposite to the ticket counter and don’t have to walk a lot to reach there.
Parking fee is about 30 INR for car, Ticket price for adult is 100 per person, if you opt for personal guide then it costs you 350 INR but if you choose to go with the group guide, its completely free of cost. Carrying a camera will attract an additional charge of 150 INR.
This fort is one of the best forts of India, there are several mahals inside this fort where the old royal families used to live. The mahals are: Anoop Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Badal Mahal, Phool Mahal, Karan Mahal, Ganga Mahal, Deewan-e-Khaas. These are now converted to museum.
Other best places to visit in Bikaner include Karni Mata Mandir (Temple), Jain Temple, Lalgarh Fort, various eateries. And yes, one must try the authentic Bikaneri bhujia & other Bikaneri namkeens, snacks and sweets.
There are a variety of options to dine in, most of the restaurants are inside the Lalgarh Fort Campus, which also has many luxury hotels. Laxmi Niwas Palace is the main out of those. Budget stay is Hotel Sagar Palace, Lalgarh Fort Campus.
Best place to try for authentic Bikaneri snacks, namkeens and sweets is Bhikharam Chandmal Namkeens & Sweet Shop or Chhotu Motu Joshi Sweet Shop for sweets & breakfast options.
