How I treated Juniors Coccidia Diagnosis

- Junior was diagnosed with Coccidia. This is a parasitic type of infection that most commonly causes watery, mucus-based diarrhea in dogs. It is caused by stress, as from moving, travel and weather changes, and being in an environment with other infected animals are the most common causes of this parasitic infection to develop. It is spread through fecal matter, and is most commonly found in puppies that have contracted the parasite from an adult dogs' feces. The coccidiosis infection is of particular danger for young dogs, since their immune systems are still underdeveloped.
He is being treated with oral medication called Albon and he will be on it for 14 days.
Day 3 of the medicine and he is already having firm stools and feeling much better, very playful a little different than before...
I am also worming him with RFD Liquid Wormer (Pyranthal Pamoate) I bought at Tractor Supply for around 15 dollars. I have him on the worming schedule of 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 13 weeks of age... The recommended worming age is at 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks of age. Since we got him at 5 weeks of age and no one wormed him, we had to start now and do it this way.. This wormer is considered one of the safest wormers out there, made by Pfizer Animal Health. He licked it alone so it must taste yummy... But I did feed him right after...
Junior is our now 6 week old American Pitbull Terrier. He is a Chocolate Red Nose APBT from the Danger Zone and Boogie Man bloodlines... Halo is our 3 1/2 yr old adult Pitbull, she is a Blue Nose APBT from the Colby and Watchdog bloodlines...

My Himalayan kittens have been getting coccydia and I’ve lost most . Many tears are shed .
Does the coccidia live on home surfaces ? Because my dog has coccidia & he’s taking Albon as well

My 15 year old male cockapoo started squirting out brown water instead of poop. His appetite disappeared. I took him to the vet. They never ran a stool sample test. Claimed it was upset stomach and gave him Pepto. His appetite has yet to return 10 days later. I am sure this is what my dog has and the vet failed to test for it. How can I provide a stool sample when is all brown water coming out?

I'm so glad he's doing better. I bought a puppy about 8 months ago and he started having diarrhea at about 3 months old and I thought he was just a sick pup and give him back to the breeder and got another healthy puppy and then 3 days in he started having diarrhea. Found out it was coccidia in the first one and I've had a mess of it in my yard. Apparently from the first one and still trying to rid it as best I can in order to be able to get another dog. It's terrible....

Coccidia found in dogs doesn't affect humans.

My 9 week Cane Corso is going through deworming now and Coccidia treatment Day 5. His poop went from chocolate moose to ice cream to smoothie to yoohoo to hershey squirts explosive last night! i even cried i'm so tired and worn down from not sleeping lol. My pup has also been vomiting. Gonna call the vet today

Please tell me how you cleaned your house I’m really stressed out because I live in a two bedroom apartment that’s honestly fairly bigger than I thought and I am so stressed My vet told me to use bleach but I’m reading online that it’s highly resistant to that disinfectant and now I’m stressed out because I used it all over my carpet and I can’t use an ammonia-based now because it will create toxic gas I feel like I’m really out of my league right now please help me

My puppy had coccidia and hypoglycemia, idk how this happened but she passed away a few days ago. It was the most heartbreaking feeling ever. I hope she's doing better now.
Hopefully it's not too late for you to answer this since this videos been up a while but my puppy was diagnosed with coccidia yesterday and we started the medicine today. I originally took him to the vet because he wasn't eating and had diarrhea then while we're waiting for the results which mine it took a day to get results they told me to give him pedialyte. So now today starting him on the Albon should I still give him the pedialyte I don't know how the two mix together.
I would only give him the pedialyte if he is not eating or drinking...

Corid works. Its the only over the counter available now since they took Alberon (spelling?) off. You have to do some math because it is for cows but its not that hard. The puppies hate the taste of it. But it does work. You can pick it up at your local feed store.

Just came across your videos .. Yesterday I bought a pitbull from a guy on craigslist he said she was 2 months and in the pictures she looked so. When I saw her to purchase she was the same size as junior but obviously he didn't know anything about puppies or pitbull pups. The first couple times she pooped it was "pudding" poo and not solid or hard I assume it was because he was giving her soft food but got curious so looked for videos of 5-6 week old pitbull pups. Idk if Nala my female black American Staffordshire Terrier has coccidia (sorry if spelt wrong) can you help me please? I really don't want to lose her!
you need to take a sample of her stool into a vet. they will test for it... if she has it they will give you the meds... luckily the vet let me do that instead of paying for a full visit... call around and see if someone will do that... just tell them you have a puppy with the symptoms and you would like to bring in a sample. it's very common, it is passed thru the mothers milk.... good luck...
took her to the vet not to long ago. He did a examine and took a sample of her stool, came back that she had worms payed for a full visit and her first shots and deworming. when i first got her i was told she got her shots and dewormed but i guess i was lied to. good thing i went in. Nala is doing good now shes grown alot and her coat is better than ever :) but still look forward to my other vet visits
this is why you don't buy dogs off craigslist or puppy mills, etc. ADOPT from a reputable rescue or shelter.
chiqichiqi1 they can still have coccidia from a shelter or rescue or any other worm or disease.. the symptoms show up randomly. craigslist dogs need rescued as well
I this this is happening to my 6 year old dog it just started last night I'm taking him tomorrow to the vet. I just want to know how much was everything? it would mean so much if I can get a response thank you.

Albon liquid form is usually around 22.00 for a 2 oz bottle and 110.00 for a 16 oz. Albon also comes in pill form which is cheaper. (Albon is a Prescription medication).
Hey, our puppy has Coccidia. She’s bout 4 months. Came from Mexico I guess got her off Craigslist. Few vet trips. Got her meds. She’s not eating but feeding her high calorie thru syringe doc gave us. She’s having hard time standing and falls over. She still drinks water fine. She’s down to her bones pretty much. Any advice? Maybe give some pedialite?

If it's severe yes blood will be in the stool, the stool is very watery.
my puppy has it im.scared and now in treatment for 29 days doesnt want to eat or drink i dint want to loose her 😭

legally you shouldn't be able to get a pup at 5 weeks
who would let you even take him at 5 weeks that's just rediculas. . that's way way to young to be taken away from his mother. . who ever you got this pup from was irrasponsiable.. pups aren't saposse to leave mom tull at least 8-9 weeks.. no wonder you had so much trouble with him..

That's horrible I'm sorry for this no puppy sould be breed for money... yes I just had a pet parent call me that there little one has this now I am having my whole litter inspected tomorrow. . And let me just tell u I'm am worried to death about them I have never Herd of this befor. .. and I've been doing some research on the subject and it's very confusing. . I just hope this doesn't hurt my pups chances of getting adopted and finding loving homes...We have been doing everything threw a vet and I'm saprissed he never mentioned this if it was so common... i hope that your pet as well as mine are ok.. I'm so worried about them
Diane Holl sorry to hear that about your puppies!! you are right I hated where he came from but I was never going to leave him there with those disgusting people! they just wanted rid of all of them.... coccidia is very common like I said it is passed thru the mothers milk... they will take a stool sample and if it's positive then they will need to be treated and then its done! no more issues, it should never effect the adoption. a lot of times the mother will have it and never show any symptoms and when it's passed on to the puppy they have weak underdeveloped immune systems so they will show signs early like explosive diarrhea and puddling stools, etc... that's why I did a video on it... they can become dehydrated very quickly so you need to be on top of it... no worries if this is what your puppies have it's very treatable... good luck!! ♥

+Heidi Fox Im so sorry to hear that... You need to get him some Pedialyte ASAP! You have to buy the clear one only. they cannot have the colored ones. use a syringe and get it down his throat how ever you have to do it. Puppies can die very quickly from dehyrdration and if he's not eating and drinking he is feeling very bad. also I hope he is on medication as well.. and if he is and he's still not feeling well after a few days you need to call the vet but for sure right now get him on some clear pedialyte. good luck!!

My puppy’s are 7 weeks old and have it . Should I not let my kids touch them? Does coccida come back over time ? I heard it does
It's best to not let your kids touch them as coccidia spreads and can reinfect your puppies.
