Only reason it was close was because alcaraz fell off the stairs in the Barcelona club just 10 mins before this match. Watch 2023 Barcelona open interview he says that it was very difficult for him to play this match .
I'm not making excuses on behalf of alcaraz . This is just what alcaraz said . And he has no reason to fabricate this story especially a year after the match happened.

Ha entrenado y competido en España, en Alicante, desde niño con jugadores, por ejemplo, como el hermano de Carlitos Alcaraz , Álvaro, y con todos los tenistas jóvenes actuales españoles. Al no tener cómo financiar su carrera, sus padres , cuando Alex tenía 12 años, solicitaron ayuda a la federación australiana, por tener Alex la doble nacionalidad. Y por eso se fueron a Australia...Aún así, siguió viviendo y entrenando en España. Es español; que nadie le dé más vueltas.

Why is Carlos Alcatraz jealous of Novak Djokovic just because he beat him fair and square his favorite surface which happens to be clay. Carlos himself was creating all the hype after beating Stefanos sitsipas talking about being the no1 player.he was given a reality check by him and now the former dismisses the latter about who he thinks are the better movers on Grass Courts.
