I have to hand it to you, Meg and the boys in cleaning up that garbage dump they left not only in the yard , trees, farm house, barn and the mobile home etc. that was a lot of work. Most people would never have bought the place seeing what needed to be done, but you & Meg went nah, piece of cake😜. Seriously though, you've made a wonderful homestead for your family in just a few short years. Looking forward to the greenhouse build. Blessings to you all. 😊🇺🇲

    My Husband's favorite.

I use to make it at least once a week, when our house was filled with little feet, but as the kids grew, I decided to stop working out of our home. I had did home license day care for children, for many years in my home . So I got out into the World to working I got into caregiving for the elderly Memory, care. and Assistant living.
I will be Retiring soon at 66 years young. So now my husband will get a meat loaf, and mashed potatoes and string beans and gravy, homemade bread.
Believe me he will be a happy camper. He has been retired for quit a while. With
No more kids at home I just gave up making these kind of meals, I thought we didn't need it anymore.
    But seeing Meg's cooking !
Is Telling me get back into that kitchen .

I have followed Ben and Meg practically from day 1 and here is what I Love about these 2 youngsters. They have stayed true to themselves, they still film as much as they did when they have started this journey.
Far too many of them once they have reached 100,000 subscribers have lessened the videos they put out,it’s like they pay attention to the views they get and that is good enough for them.
One couple that I literally followed from their very beginning now has like 102 million subscribers and they only post maybe 2 times a week and that is all.
But not Meg and Ben. They still post 5 - 6 days per week. I know I sound like I am rambling and am jealous but I’m just stating why I Like them so much..
Keep up the good work and thank you.

You can never go wrong with meatloaf and mash potatoes. My wife makes the same recipe that my grandmother did and it is just so very good. Meg is always cooking up something that will feed a hungry family. You two are such a blessing to watch because of the way you have raised you children and to continue to do so. Thanks so much for all the fun and helpful videos each week. Have a wonderful week and God Bless.

Watching you clean up the trash makes me think about the fact that there is no such place as "away". You can't throw things "away". They just go live on someone else's land. Forever.
Which usually inspires me to buy less stuff that is going to have to be thrown away eventually.

Meg, you could always can preserve meat and get more room in your freezer. Plus, if electric goes off for an extended time, you are not going to lose a lot of frozen food. I do stew beef chunks, ground burger (after cooking) boneless chicken, BBQ chicken and pork, and sausage balls (all meat, not fillers). Your yard/property clearing out trash looks great. WTG! Excited about your high tunnel.

Wow, that's a foggy morning Ben! I like the concrete statue by the spigot. Did you find that on the property? Nice milking routine! It's good you got your greenhouse now instead of a long time from now. Now you can put it up when things are done. Yes, I've been clearing out my freezer for my expected meat bird butchering in about a month. You have pigs to get in the freezer! I have tons of tomatoes but they are still all green! My pumpkins are starting to turn orange. Yum, mashed potatoes and gravy and meatloaf! Wow Meg, having to regrind your ground beef! So much you have to do! You must love using the tractor Ben. Nice place to put Bubbles and Lambchop. Thanks for showing us you using the tractor and cleaning up that junk pile! Thanks for this Hollars!

Congrats on the greenhouse!! Having it will make a big difference with growing stuff😊
    I'm so excited for y'all.
Getting rid of the garbage from the previous home owner is a good thing. Now you have the new space for the pigs. We have a space way out back where our previous home owner threw all his metal. We haven't targeted it yet. We eventually will, then we'll go to the metal place and sell rhem the metal. Might as well make a little money from it.
We've finally been getting rain, this makes me happy. The grass doesn't look so dead.
Meg, have you started your seed order yet for spring planting? I'm working on ours. I did get my flower order done, sent in, and have received those seeds.

From watching other homesteaders, when you put your green house up, i would recommend putting down good weed fabric beyond the width of your greenhouse so you don't tear up the plastic when trimming, and it will make it easier to mow around it.

(I know there are lots of recipes on the internet and cook books, I would love to try yours) I can understand if you say, it is a recipe that stays in the family (some people do not want to share, as it was great grandmothers or grannies recipe) I have had people tell me this on occasions, so I can understand. I am so glad Ben you have that tractor now to help with all your big heavy chores on the homestead. Greetings from the UK.

Your cookbook is writing itself here! Guessing those two recipes might be written down by now. lol Complete with cute story! Matter of fact, I do not have a meatloaf recipe at all.
My mom's was kinda meh (she avoided fat back then so that probably didn't help, and now avoids bread crumbs), and I wasn't ever a fan of ketchup. I bet yours would be rather helpful, because if I was going to try making one, it would probably end up as meatballs. Then buried in a sauce. Which I think is what happened the last two times I set out with the idea of making meatloaf. ;)

We got a greenhouse last year and I love it, I tell my kids I'm going to my happy place and they know exactly where to find me, loved having a nice warm place to work when it was snowing outside!

The nice thing if you get the greenhouse up before the winter, is you will have a quiet place out of the weather. Sometimes you just need a bit of space. Especially in bad weather. I can see your older boys, old enough to appreciate it also. Oh, I just split some wood, but I want to stay outside a little longer. ....

Megan! Tell us your secret, do! How you keep your hands un-chaffed and raw with all the hand washing of dishes you do without gloves!
Do you smother them in petroleum jelly at night and wear cotton gloves? ❤️

My favorite meal was meatloaf and baked potatoes. That was as a kid with 9 in the family. No one liked peeling potatoes. Now it's mashed potatoes!

Poor a little of the mixture in the meat pat out to a loaf then place the rest of the mixture on top. 350. For 1 he or more. Enjoy!

I have started to save all the videos that have Megs recipes. It will do until we all convince Meg to do her cookbook 😁

Just an Idea to float by you. If you put the Green house in another location, you can still grow Tomato's and such on your current suspension system. You will double your space for growing, I do not know if you are market farming but this could help you jump into it. I like to watch this guy FarmerDre on youtube as well. That is what he does, grows in Greenhouse's to get a jump on the season. Outside he runs a you pick strawberry farm, as well as Blackberry.

I have not committed since you journey to Carolinas but I would like to give a suggestion about your greenhouse build. I'm in Pennsylvania so we get a bit of snow, it made it hard to open the door on the greenhouse until we used 2x12x16 boards around the bottom frame to raise it up so snow didn't block the door on the out side. This also made it nice on the inside. We added re-bar pipe in double rows along the sides and back. Then put slab wood in-between the re-bar to make removable rised beds for the winter. In spring we pull up the re-bar, remove the slabs, hook the greenhouse to the riding lawnmower and move the greenhouse. That way during the winter it's closer to the house and will get more sun in the cold months and in the spring closer to the garden.

A movable greenhouse. Is this along the lines of the Elliot Coleman moveable greenhouse? Cool idea.👍

Not sure will have to look it up. We move it to get more sun in the winter and make it easier for me to get to. The soil gets moved and refreshed each move also. If we ever go solar the panels would also need to rotate seasonally.
