Heart breaking!!! The divine, the brilliant, the never to be forgotten Linda Smith. The funniest person ever - sorry Paul - you’re definitely second though. X
Thanks for the uploads, str1tsa. It's interesting to see which clips have been chosen for each series' 'Best Bits'. Some of the picture gags and introductory jokes about the guests are definitely worthy of some inclusion too!
A couple of legendary and quick-witted lines from William Hague: 1. "Listen, just because I tell jokes doesn't mean you should have political opinions." 2. I H: "Can you kill people with your bare hands?" W H: "Yes. But only one editor at a time." 😂🤣😂
38:12, if I recall, Paul made a joke about it losing contact as it crashed into the surface of Mars, due to a calculation error, Beagle 2 did smash flat into the surface of Mars. seems some of the calculations were not done in metric.
"The Beagle 2's fate remained a mystery until January 2015 when it was located on the surface of Mars in a series of images from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter HiRISE camera. The images suggest that it landed safely, but two of the spacecraft's four solar panels failed to deploy, blocking the spacecraft's communications antenna."
Watching this really proves how much better the show used to be. I still love watching it, however they put a lot more effort into the production and the gags back then. maybe it's just because they were younger and it was more effortless but i do think that at the very least that Paul has because seems to just be going through the motions these days.
Not really, does it make sense to tell someone not to have political opinions, when Paul lives within a democracy and is literally paid for twenty weeks of the year to have political opinions. Other than that flawless, although maybe he didn't so much tell jokes, as read them.
@@lizziebkennedy7505it would be funny if pulling at a thread of truth. There wasn't any irony or wit in telling Paul he shouldn't have political opinions, it's funny until you stop to think about what a precedent that sets. It's funny until you remind yourself it came from the mouth of the former leader of the Tory party, Hague was on fire during the episode, but that one retort, in that moment, he was baring his teeth, not being jovial, the truth is that the Tory party would dearly love the vast majority of us to avoid having political opinions. Therefore it isn't funny and instead rather dystopian and terrifying.
Really embarrassing for Ian his childish attacks on Mark Steel who didn't get a chance to express his valid points (dunno what's been edited out). Takes a new light given the Brexit nonsense.

Yes, Richard Blackwood knew nothing about anything many years ago when he was on- but he was a panellist. When the host knows nothing and wants to prove that she doesn't give a sh!t- that's ten times worse.
I used to watch and enjoy HIGNFY .... but no more .... I see smug, tired, smart arse "comedians" following the BBC agenda and taking cheap shots ..... ENOUGH
Yeah, dead right, bloody political correctness, BBC bias, how DARE they criticise my own personal POINT of view while I desperately ignore THE fact that they also CRITICISE the opposite point of view, liberal wishy WASHY, a disgrace, I don’t pay my LICENCE FEE for this, mostly because I LIVE in another COUNTRY, but all the same IT’s disgusting....
Give how well private eye has sold under his leadership, and how often those in power sue him and lose, I’d say his relevance is central. You just don’t like it.
The episode with Bruce Forsyth is a moment of absolute TV gold, loved every minute, especially "play your Iraqi cards right"! XD
Watching old eps of HIGNFY is like taking a journey back in time, remebering so many events I have vague memories of from my childhood.
Lynda was a wonderful person and comedian miss her.
Yes ! She was great
definitely.
That's SARS bit feels a bit different now
Same thought here ... : /
So that's Charolet Church. She is freakin adorable. The only other time I've seen her is on Hignfy, 20 years later.
The look on Paul Merton’s face during “play your Iraqi cards right” was pure joy.
& to think they were going to call it
Play your “Curds” right

I love how excited Paul was to have Brucie on

44:10 Everyone ❤️‘s the Bruce Episode but I like the fact Paul Merton is having the time of his life.

Must've been 20 years since I last saw The Generation Game..
Lynda was wonderful x
Charlotte Church was all the rage of the lads in my school
Men of culture.
Thanks for posting.
“So what are Britney’s management trying to do with her at the moment?” “Kill her” probs not far off in 2021
Never gets old
Brucie was such a good sport!
"Look at all the piss we got out of this fish" lmfao
Cheers for this.
I think Brucie outclassed the rest of them !
Linda Smith was gone far too soon.
Excellent. Many high points for Ian.
That picture round on episode 1 is on par with Eddie Izzard''s death star canteen.
yes.
Bruce the legend.
So, did Ian go to Brussels? I think we should be told.

Clarkson on SARS sounds like Trump on COVID-19......the big difference is, Clarkson wasn’t the leader of a bloody major country. 😮🤔😱😑🇨🇦
Yes but the difference is, Clarkson is joking.
And Clarkson is good
He wasn't joking and Clarkson is a wanker.
Love jez
Covid is SARS, its SARS-cov-2 so his comments are still relevant

Or maybe you just assume your sense of humour to be some universal measure. I think they’re vastly better now.
19.38 General Studies is the best A-Level in my opinion; it's the only one you can't plan for. I got a 'B'.
Lord Strapon was also there playing cards.
He goes by Lord Mandelson now.

William Hague actually seems quite genuine for a slippery lying BSing politician.
You need to see a doctor thinking Hague looks quite genuine.
To me he just looks like a giant baby
These SARS jokes didn’t age well at all did they
I miss Linda Smith.
"Ock and Shaw"
SARS bants not aged well
20:00. Cycling proficiency is very important and should not be underrated. :)
Nor surprised Martin Freeman was only on this once
Did he actually say anything? 😂
thank u mr str1tsaman
I've never understood the appeal of Bruce Forsythe.

That "Listen just because I tell jokes doesnt mean you should have political opinions" Is utterly fucking golden, and so true! lol

The episode with Charlotte church is cringe worth

Hague absolutely destroyed Paul Merton at 9:49 hahaha
Nope.
He did. Then Merton had to come back with some lame remark. He can’t stand being one-upped. He tramples all over other peoples jokes.
