"Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомёт" means Handheld Anti-tank Propelled Grenade. The Cyrillic alphabet first letters would sound like R, P, & H; although the second word starts sounding like 'proto', it means against/anti- ....the last word alludes to grenade (under propulsion).
RPG quite fittingly stands for Rocket Propelled Grenade.
Your interview of Dr. Thompson is about as good as it gets. I also appreciate your other excellent interviews; to include "Tilt".
The book, that first got me fired-up about all the Viet Nam history, was by a Huey crew chief serving SOG missions. His name is Roger Lockshier, and the book, "Saving SOG Souls". Since that book (read & re-read several times), I've discovered JOCKO as being a formidable contributing facilitator, to all matters of respecting Life, Liberty, and what America's Forefathers cherished as greatness. Someone to've been honored to serve under.

@@ThePresentation010 really has nothing to do with subject, but since you are on the subject, some veterans and others want to be homeless by choice, I worked with veterans post military service, and yes those purple hearts, earned you respect of your brothers' in arms, which many of us got a job because of our deeds in military service, because we earned respect, I was hired, 2x purple hearts without ever applying for a job while in service, no interview, nothing same with my father. In military, we take care of each other, in and out of service, the "Brotherhood", post military service we look for this but it can not be found. No matter who is pushing the buttons, it has little to do with your life, compared to those that are part of circle of your life, those have the real influence in and out of life. Dick Thompson is my favorite Jocko Podcast guest, so please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think there's anything funny about a bunch of Orangutans getting eviscerated by a Spectre gunship...They were non-combatants, definitely a tragedy. They have been observed using tools (there's video of it), and obviously as Dick mentioned they would run off with your gear. So they aren't just mindless automatons like a bunch of bacteria, they lie somewhere on the sentience spectrum and are a lot closer to us than bacteria in terms of sentience. I don't think you would find it funny if a gunship accidentally eviscerated a bunch of dogs or cats, would you? Then why would it be funny for a bunch of Orangutans to be torn up?

@@PhillyEaglesFanatic Sorry, there are some of us who may disagree. SO, you are out there fighting the enemy, and you have to contend with these big critters who will assault you and take your gear. Not cool. Besides, it was an accident. The military had good reason to suspect that these were the (human) enemy. And in sense, they were...the enemy. A family member worked in research, and they hate monkeys. One spit in the face of a research handler and she died of Herpes B, even after following protocols; only takes one drop. (Elizabeth Griffin, 22, Emory U., Atlanta, Dec. 1997)They will sh!t in their hand and throw it at you. They are like humans with absolutely no principles whatsoever, unless they are trained. And even then, a serious risk. Remember the lady who got her face ripped off by a PET monkey? Nope, wouldn't want to deal with an army of these savages on a mission. Cute is framed, but is not reality, esp in the wild.

You know I know it's amazing to hear these stories of stuff but it definitely feels your assistant in my heart for the ones that sat behind them desk and push our people around like the little ponds and don't even know what their life value is and like the extreme of what war really does and I don't know because I've never been involved but I tell you now what it does to my heart when I hear these stories that it definitely brings a lot of pain but then a lot of resentment for the military in the United States of America people that like just push these ponds around like they're just a number you know the way it sounds it's like maybe one out of 10 kernels or captains or whatever care about these young men that are coming in there and maybe I'll completely wrong but it just kills me when I heard that young boy say you know 21 years and a folded flag you know I'm probably speaking out of emotions because like I love people and I love the fact that people get to be dads and people get to be bombs and experience what it is that little touch of God in that moment and to have that all ripped away from you because you know and I don't know the background I don't know the story about trying to stop you know a bunch of people from trying to push a communist world

This is such a valuable podcast. Not just for the cool war stories. Dick Thompson is a bit like Victor Frankl in that he could provide an analysis of his responses to his high stress experience. I highly recommend his book 'The Stress Effect: Why Smart Leaders Make Dumb Decisions - And What to Do About It' for anybody in a first responder role.
