I think duration plays a role but also if there is a rain event before a freeze event increasing the chances of ice forming in the growing point causing damage, that makes things worse. This event is following a dry period and a windy day that largely dries out conditions, so that’s good. I suspect both Cordyline and Chamaerops will be fine if they are planted in the ground and dry before the freeze.
