There are some people who think Mitoma isn't as good as he used to be because he isn't scoring or assisting as much but I feel like his impact is still more or less the same. He's still an amazing player in my opinion.
I think the rest of the league now know just how dangerous he is, so he gets a similar treatment to Arsenal's Saka: double up on him so he can't take on his defender and show his quality. I agree with you that he's adapted really well to this challenge too

What makes him great is the accuracy of his situational judgment and his touch on the ball. His decisions on whether to dribble or pass are outstanding. The reason we don't see many mistakes from him is because he always makes decisions without losing the ball, and he always makes rational decisions. His touch on the ball is also superb, and there are many scenes where he switches places with an opponent with one touch or leaves them behind, and he always tries to dribble with the minimum number of touches. He is not an old-fashioned dribbler, but a modern one.

In my opinion, Brighton needs to build around him. Mitoma needs more unselfish player around him, like Welbeck for example… and he needs to be closer to the goal.
