  • We started off with a beautiful home grown meal as a family. Ended up having to take it picnic style on the bridge in Willow AK.
Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. We also built an amazing and beautiful wood shed. We have great big garden planes for the future. Join us as we dream big dreams and live everyday working hard to accomplish them.

Thank you for feeding the people that help make our roads safer! My dad worked road construction for many many years and I remember driving two hours to bring him a sandwich for lunch and to say hi. He was working on the road just passed hope junction. I was little but remember it clearly. The food looked amazing. Those grillo pickles are awesome and my kids go through them quickly. We even get the big bag of grillo pickle chips from Costco lol

You are making amazing memories. I can relate to the smoke alarm. I keep a fan in my pantry for those occasions that I need HOT!. Just plug it in point it at the smoke detector and it does the trick. How wonderful to see Wyatt doing so well. Great reminder for us all to be cautious in construction areas and with any response personnel we encounter in our travels. God bless y’all!

I harvested my rhubarb 4 days ago. Made double batches of strawberry rhubarb jam and raspberry rhubarb jam. Lastly made a strawberry rhubarb crisp last night, no more rhubarb😊 that's about all that is ready and I had the strawberries and raspberries in my freezer from last year because there are no raspberries ready yet this year. Called the U pick farms in Palmer and nothing is ready as yet. Weird year for sure everything is late.

Yes that’s true. But keep in mind most eggs in the store by the time they get to you are months old. Farm fresh act just a little different in water. I don’t know 109% why. It’s crazy you can’t peel a hard boiled fresh eggs. I like to let them go at least a month before I hard boil them.
