2). How can an unknown thing be studied, and how can scientists develop countermeasures against it?

I'm a Malaysian and I can say - "No, we not preparing anything officially". There are no talks of any steps to prevent sickness from spreading like what happened in December 2019/January 2020. Furthermore, Chinese new Year starts on the 10th of February, 2024 which means that by beginning of February (end of January), you can expect a lot of tourists and visitors from mainland China and I have no seen any steps from the government to prevent another lockdown.
