- Welcome to our Summer Movie Rewind mini-series where I'll revisit nostalgic summer movies to share with you on the podcast! We're kicking it off with a '90s twin double feature including the 1995 movie It Takes Two starring the Olsen twins and the 1998 movie The Parent Trap starring Lindsay Lohan. I discuss the movie's many similarities and differences, my memories of watching them, some of my favorite moments, and some fun trivia facts about each one that you may not have known before.

If I had a nickel for every time there was a movie in the 90s about two girls who tried to set up their parents by switching places, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t very much, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
It Takes Two and The Parent Trap are so similar to each other, definitely movie sisters haha. The Parent Trap was my favourite film as a kid. I still love watching it even now at 28. It’s a real family film, so funny, definitely not just for kids. Growing up is realising the parents were the real villains for keeping the twins apart 😂 the Meredith scenes are the best, Elaine Hendrix is such an icon in that film.
I'm from Australia and I can't tell you how accurate this movie culture was for me! We don't have 'Summer Camp' here, but those movies made me want to go to one sooo bad!! As an adult, I still contemplate getting to, in some way, experience it by working at one but I know it wouldn't be the same because the world has changed so much.

I love both movies but The Parent Trap holds a special place in my heart! It's just so nostalgic.💗💗💗 Although I quote both all the time! 😂
Also fun fact- Meredith's mother (in the 90's version of the movie) is actually the woman that played Meredith in the original!
I first saw It Takes Two last year and have seen Parent Trap many times. I like Parent Trap way better. Mary Kate and Ashley and Lindsay Lohan are the same ages & let us not forget Meredith was in Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion!

I know a family where the parents divorced and each parent had full custody of one child. It was sad but it can happen.

Ugh i LOVE these movies and they were childhood faves. I love it takes two just a little more. I was such an olsen twins fan and had every film and detective episode on vhs haha I also loved the original parent trap with haley mills. I only had the original on vhs so when linsdey lohan parent trap was on abc family, i was stoked!!

I just saw something about Full House, which other than the obvious Olsen twin connection, feels like another kid focused show of the late 80s/early 90s, kind of like Home Alone. All so good!! 😊
Nick Parker clearly didn’t file charges after Elizabeth threw a hair dryer at him cuz I can’t see her getting custody of shit with that on her record 😂
