By far the most influential skater in my life. I wore out this tape when I was 15 years old. I started wearing Sal's barefoot, got an army t shirt, and tried to emulate his skating style as best I could. Grew up skating in Chicago, in the city, and walking up to that Amoco Gap (that he did the frontside 180 over) blew our minds. There is almost no run-up and its is HUGE. Every time I watch this part it gets me in the feels.
When the song kicks in and Jamie backside 180's the gap, and the dude says "Oh shit!" The hairs on the back of my neck would stand up. If you were skating back when this video came out, you couldn't watch this part and not want to immediately go skate after watching it.... and skate bigger than you've ever skated before.
Truth! Made you want to throw yourself down the biggest gaps you could find. Sure made a big difference from all the pressure flips that came before it.
Went to the Iron Maiden concert last night in Nashville, and couldn't help but think of this whole part as they played Hallowed be thy Name! Legendary!
That song choice deeply affected me. The best part is, when I became an ESL/TEFL teacher, I played this for my advanced students. The other thing this JT TM WTH part did was continue with helping my karaoke. I'm no actual singer or musician, but I do enjoy the challenge of singing different songs, hip hop, classic rock, metal, Maiden included!
I'm 34 years old. I watched this slow mo a million times thank you for this memory. Wish I had that tape still. What video does he kickflip a motorcycle.
@@Osiris3657 his part is out on yt. It half of the shortys videos and they re filmed some stuff cause ed and Jamie wouldnt sell him some of the footage back.
I remember watching this every day before hitting the streets in downtown Dallas. I was scared that I’d wear out that vhs and not find another copy. Thank you RUclips.
Yep sal 23s and the koston ones best fucken shoes ever. I dont know wtf the deal is these days lol. I had homies who loved the osiris d3s damn moon boots. I was like naw ill keep my sals
dude i love how he tweaks everything, like the ollie over the gap in the line with the lipslide on a car and the tre flip yo manual, who twekas a tre into manual? damn gnarly.
This was the first video on my VHS full of like 8 skate videos. My mom used to make me skate video mixes on VHS. Watched this one the most by far. This and FUlfill the dream i could tell you every trick from every skater.
I'd bet this part (and the rest of the vid) would have the world record of most number of destroyed vhs tapes and players due to repeated rewinds... ever... if there was a way to tell.
It's so neat these days... to just press the left cursor button on the keyboard to rewind, and changing playback speed, without fear of breaking something... I do miss the frame forward button on pause though.
Wow i remember watching this as a kid I saw this for the first time brings back so many memories. The whole video was amazing to watch again but the part where Jamie is 50/50 one footed on the long rail literally flashed me back in time and wished I could go back in time 90’s and early 2000’s and enjoy life on a skateboard. Crazy he was the master of fundamentals! 🔥
For me this part put to bed the era of triple kick flips and manuals. There was no other pro doing rails and sets like this at the time. To kick flip a motorcycle …
+crb129_ Nice brow! I start in skateboard because welcome to hell, and stop for 6 years and come back in the past for months im almost 30 and felt so happy to be able to skate again! Nice to meet you brow and cheers for your job and skate lol!
Haha Jamie Thomas in B A L D mode! I remember reading in an interview with Jamie Thomas that it was a pizza delivery guys car and he was delivering pizza to them and asked if Jamie Thomas could do something on his car.
I was 14 when this came i out and it made me wanna grind the biggest rails ever. The pizza guys car, no shoes, etc theist goes on jamie DESTROYED THIS PART
I feel like in a sense JT ruined skating forever for all the groms behind him. I remember when they filmed WTH, Toy Machine came to our park to get footage, minus JT, and we took them to skate a handrail at the school across the street. I think I avoided watching JT’s part because it was like the first time, for me as a kid, that I thought maybe skating wasn’t tangible anymore. It was like a dream killer. Going from learning all the flip tricks to skating in a park, to being forced to think about being destroyed, literally, on, gnarly rails and giant gaps, was huge to swallow for an underdeveloped pre-teen kid with weak legs; the world just seemed bigger as a kid, so too the gaps and rails!! But it was like F, I have to give this shit a go to keep up at all, or the dream is over. But prior to JT normalizing this approach, skating still appeared tangible. JT definitely opened the door of skating to The world of evil Knievel. JT made skating like that Simpson’s episode where Bart is going to jump the Springfield gorge. 🙄🙄

Exactly! He's always been my favorite skater. Did you see his "Damn it all" part? It was pretty sick.
100% every part was a banger from Satva to Elissa
Truth! Made you want to throw yourself down the biggest gaps you could find. Sure made a big difference from all the pressure flips that came before it.
Exatcly 💯
Perfectly stated.
This video defined my teenage years.
me too bro. i still have the vhs
Mine too man... JT is a legend.
Mine too.. I saw it so many times the vhs finally broke
Same here i was 15 when this came out, still have it to this day.. jamie thomas's part got me so hyped to skate everyday
Went to the Iron Maiden concert last night in Nashville, and couldn't help but think of this whole part as they played Hallowed be thy Name! Legendary!
This isn't the Trooper, dude. It is Hallowed be thy Name.
@@michaelr.4878 You're right haha my bad
That was a great slap of nostalgia! Now, off to enjoy a well-overdue Jamie Thomas video binge.
I can still name every song in this video. Evey single day this played in my house.
awesome music choice... up the Irons!

Chomp on this he kick flips a bike?
haha he kickflips a motorcycle in this video. around the 4:25 mark
I guess he does 2 …?
Awesome. hallowed be thy name is a great song for this video
Greatest song and part for skateboarding ever
still hard to believe Jamie Thomas and Chad muska were on toy machine.
I wish one day we could see the Muska part, it was apparently epic and the end part instead of Jamie's.
It was in the first Shortys video I believe.
isnt muskas part included on the welcome to hell dvd?
Yes it is!
4:04. Not a bigspin, but a 180 late shuv.
This got me so amped on skating again. I remember watching this for the first time when it came out all I wanted to do was smash rails.
Grew up watching this part and it’s still so sick. The back lip at 3:38 is so sick looking with the music edited to it and it still pumps me up.
aaah these were my days, I remember buying the VHS at my local skate shop.
Welcome to Hell and Misled Youth were my top Skate videos back in the day.
I think this video came out around 1997 or 98! Freaking legend
I remember the old Sal 23s. Had a pair. Best skate shoes ever.
Scott R the 1st koston’s were fire 🔥 too!
Yep sal 23s and the koston ones best fucken shoes ever. I dont know wtf the deal is these days lol. I had homies who loved the osiris d3s damn moon boots. I was like naw ill keep my sals
Damn I was in kindergarden when Thomas dropped this epic part, and it still unbelievable and motivates me
Best video part of that year and many more🙏🏻
dude i love how he tweaks everything, like the ollie over the gap in the line with the lipslide on a car and the tre flip yo manual, who twekas a tre into manual? damn gnarly.
Those sal babier 23 shoes were the best and the half cab of course :)
Line at 4:15 with the ollie onto the car is so good
What an iconic part.
one of the best videos - mid 90s
miss the old zero team
This was the first video on my VHS full of like 8 skate videos. My mom used to make me skate video mixes on VHS. Watched this one the most by far. This and FUlfill the dream i could tell you every trick from every skater.
Shoutout to the guy pissing in the foreground at 1:54
Classic is an understatement
Dude, he was skating literally everywhere, even at a spot next to my house.
Still the greatest section of all time
I wore this tape out. "BARLEY!" still rings in my head whenever I see something alley oop. Haha
This was the first skate video I saw that really got me motivated. Especially being from Alabama like Jamie.
Definitely in my opinion best skate video ever next to misled youth. I agree wit my man watched this vhs like atleast 4 times a week
This is from my all-time favorite skate vid. I grew up on this shit.
dood. how many stairs is the ender 50? like 20? F'in gnarly for 1990's
My mate had this on vid when it came out but his tape played slightly slower than it should. Made it even more epic
I'm deleting Instagram and just watching this part every day
I'd bet this part (and the rest of the vid) would have the world record of most number of destroyed vhs tapes and players due to repeated rewinds... ever... if there was a way to tell.

Can't go wrong with Maiden and back lips. Thomas was my first favorite skater.
those sal 23s were probably the best shoes of all time imo
The movie got me into misfits, Iron Maiden, and so so much more!!!!!
I miss this type of metal and punk in skate videos
Legendary footage!
4:09 - 4:15 Muska impression
These classics are the fucking best!
That roof-to-roof gap late shuv was fucking gnarly even for todays standards.
Best part ever and on in the 90's
The man had balls the size of dinner plates

Openening line was killer :)
For me this part put to bed the era of triple kick flips and manuals. There was no other pro doing rails and sets like this at the time. To kick flip a motorcycle …
It changed the way we all skated
Jamie Thomas is a great role model now but seeing him doing tricks on cars with a shaved head definitely led me down the wrong path lmao
watched it everyday.
holy shit I watched this on the religiously with my older brother back in the day!
Same history with me and my brother dude! cheers from Brazil!
+João Henrique Abbud Geraldo Hell yeah! Cheers to you also! I work for a Brazilian Company! Much love for Brazilans

That was great, love part and love Maiden
that part with e-mans intro and commentary is just priceless!!
Tre to manual was awesome. It is all pretty sick skating.
Freaking Iroc and Jamie Thomas symbolizes my childooh and adolescence in a capsule.
Thomas the best Ambassador of skateboarding
This video still kills it in 2023
nice 411VM VHS below the TV!
Anybody ever notice there was someone in the car in the later part of the video who sticks his head out after he ollies it?
it shows this is a first try line, guy has no chance to react it's Jamie Thomas in B A L D mode you would not mess with this
Haha Jamie Thomas in B A L D mode!
I remember reading in an interview with Jamie Thomas that it was a pizza delivery guys car and he was delivering pizza to them and asked if Jamie Thomas could do something on his car.
this is just now being recommended to me
