    Amazon Commercial 90DM610 is out now and seems to be an improved version over the 90DM600 as it has added temperature reading. The price on Amazon today is $42.80. I paid $35.40 for my 90DM600 but the price has gone up quite a bit - I assume because it is being replaced by the 90DM610.

    Thank you very much for all your really interesting videos. I've been slowly building a small lab, and I got a lot of inspiration from your equipment reviews, which is what brought me to your review of the Zotec. I found the test of the 20A function particularly interesting as well as the discovery of the resistance fluctuation with the leads.

      You are welcome Question Mark;) I appreciate your feedback and I'm happy to be helping. I notice some inexpensive leads come with a coating or some film on the metal. I tried different leads and the reading was solid. I bought some leads to do a review - I'll get that done for this weekend. There are some great inexpensive leads.

    This was a nice review! I like how you looked at areas a lot of multimeter reviews leave out, and the way you take a "for what it is" approach, aligning expectations with reality when looking at inexpensive multimeters. I've always had good luck with Zotek products, and they actually make my current favorite multimeter (Zotek VC17b+, usually in the $25 range), so it's especially nice to one of theirs reviewed here! :)

      Thanks Robin - I appreciate the great feedback! Since doing this channel, I have found that many of these low cost meters are actually very nice. I've become confident that there are many better choices than a Fluke. Even though I once thought that they were the best.

    Good review! Thanks for speeding up portions. I have three Zotec-made meters, two as Anene and a Kasuntest. Seems like a first generation where they were all light blue and a second generation in vermillion-red. The light blue surround on my meter of the same form factor is firm but had an unbearable chemical odor, took a couple years to fade. Biggest issue for me is low ohms readings, specifically, when measuring emitter resistor leads, I had poor repeatability of readings even using REL or just mentally zeroing. I was trying to determine how far off some 0.2 ohm resistors were, ended up replacing resistors unnecessarily. I found my little generic Capacitor ESR meter yielded much better results on fractional Ohm resistors. Blaming the test leads I thought I'd but another set of basic Muller test leads, the set I have are still good, a few decades old. But new ones cost more than these meters!

      Thanks for the feedback - and for reminding me of yet another great brand of leads (Muller). I agree, they are a bit on the higher price. I’ll have to investigate this low ohm measurement case - thanks!

    The CE mark is a rip off of the European CE mark. In Europe the CE mark indicates your product meets international standards and is independently tested and certified for sale across EU countries. The Chinese have been using the counterfeit CE symbol for year. Their products may be good value but their business practice is not.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  3 года назад

      Thank you for this feedback! When I worked in an industry where we were certified to test to UL, we could also self-certify and place the CE mark. The CE folks can come in and audit, but they allow the self certification. I would think that companies that don't want to get in trouble with placing the CE mark would have to comply. So, the larger name Chinese vendors, like Zotek, would have to comply to stay in good standing. Honestly, for categories up to CAT 3, I wouldn't think it would be that difficult.

    CE stands for Conformitè Europëenne with is French for if you want to sell electronics in the EA you need this mark.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for this feedback. Yes, but the CE is actually the least expensive mark to get as it is a self - certification. Yes, the CE folks can come audit you if their mark is used, but with other marks, like UL, VDE, or ETL, you have to send a number of units for testing (some of which is destructive), plus the fee for this testing is not trivial. When you can self test, you use your own labor and schedule, so cost is much lower. I once worked at a place that we had everything marked with just about every mark, and we were UL certified, so we could do our UL testing as well as place the CE mark (which was automatic really after doing our UL testing). I like the ETL giving UL competition;)

    Love you reviews Eddie, they are objective with friendly attitude :) I really don't understand why Chinese manufacturers faking CAT ratings, to be honest I would happily buy CAT II rated multimeter knowing that it is a real rating. I agree with Dave Jones on this. I'm not sure if the manufacturers of cheap meters realising, that they are potentially facing charges or lawsuit should injury happens???

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  3 года назад +1

      Thank you and I appreciate you! I agree and I think most of us only need CAT II. Actually anyone working CAT III or CAT IV are trained and know to buy a meeter with an agency approval, and not just go with CE. Anyone not trained testing in those Categories is taking a huge risk no matter the meter. I think most people and even most engineers probably don't even know what the CAT ratings are.

    • @MartenElectric
      @MartenElectric 3 года назад +1

      @@KissAnalog Well anyone who has common sense and working in industry will probably have fluke or other well known brands. Cat rating is well explained on fluke website or on eevblog forum. Maybe you could make a video about it?

    2:15 I think that many manyfacturers of the multimeters have lowered there current measurement from 20A to 10A for costsavings and more profit.
    For the adjustment is only a different current shunt (thinner) needed, (the first costsaving) and second,
    if the meter is only made for 10A, they must not provide testleads which are 20A rated (second costsaving) because the 10A testleads have less copper. In overall,the need less copper per the meter, and the meter will also have more chance to pass safety tests.

    Nice one, can do microvolt measurement pretty accurate, just a few count different from fluke 187.
    I use mine to measure contact resistance with 1A current and compare the result in microvolt to fluke 187/287.
    For input protection I'd add mov and a 100mA fuse in series to it (50mA would be better if you can find one) for volt/ohm/cap input port.
    It already have transistor/diode clamping for low voltage ohm input, but I wouldn't count on it; I bet it'll blow up the first chance you got a small transient.
    Should add a low voltage tvs as well for additional clamping protection.
    Microvolt a bit funny, they'd jump from 0uV straight to 5uV, but linearly afterwards, while flukes would show 1 or 2 uV (noise probably).
    In mV scale those ZT219 does have very high impedance compared to fluke's 10M Ohm.
    ZT219 does indeed looks similar to VC17b/VC15b, but it does a bit heavier.
    I'd do put some shieldings too on the back case near those chipset.

    • @budi0251
      @budi0251 3 года назад +1

      Read on the internet that you could upgrade those electrolytic capacitor into something like 1000uF 10v low ESR to improve noise suppression from voltage regulation into the IC, would improve measurement speed.
      Then there also a small voltage reference (TO-92) with small MLCC, suggested that you upgrade that too into at least 4.7uF as per-datasheet.
      Additional notes, adding a mov across COM & VOLT + a 100mA series fuse would add something like 20pF additional capacitance and ~3 ohms additional resistance across that ports.

    • @budi0251
      @budi0251 3 года назад +1

      Zt219 and zt109 is the cheapest dmm I can find that will do microvolt measurement.
      Accuracy wise, they're very close to my (rather expensive) fluke 287, just 2 or 3 uV differences.
      Maybe I'll sell those 287s.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  3 года назад

      Great feedback, but I’ll also bet when taking microvolt readings it is not in CAT III or CAT IV conditions so the spike protection provided by MOVs is of no concern.
