    Terry I think I enjoyed the slightly warmer sound of your ST 7 in your video. Yes my ST 70 sounds great to, less warm maybe a little cleaner. Both great!

    Good job!! I would also measure those Carbon Comp Resistors, especially the Grid Resistors. Carbon Comp's tend to drift and increase in resistance. Great condition under the hood. Thanks for sharing. Lovely amp.

    I've learned how to safely replace the caps, re-solder the tube sockets, and fix broken solder joiints to revive the tank reverb and overdrive channel in my Hot Rod Deluxe here in the recent past...many, MANY thanks for your expertise!!!...I just picked up another Hot Rod Deluxe and all it does is hiss...no output...would you think to replace the output transformer first? New tubes, powers on, not blowing fuses...thoughts Sir? thanks...

    I have a Dynaco amp and pre-amp my Step dad made I think in 57-62??? That has 12ax7 Telefunkens in it and a Mullard rect Tube and Mullard EL34's .. all original and worked flawlessly until it was upgraded with modern stuff but it is in primo condition. The Dynaco preamp is a PAS 1 I think.. There gonna be for sale soon along with a vintage Thorens TD 121 that worked perfect too the last time it was used..

    New to the channel your knowledge is unbelievable, I'm redoing a 9s 262 zenith console where can I buy an assortment of capacitors to do the job or should I buy them individually.

    Thanks D-Lab. This is my current project but I decided to go with new PCB's and all new components. The old PCB is just to fragile with it's lifting traces and all. What became of that choke. Did it check out OK?

    Hi,
    Putting new power cord on ST-70. Using modern day polarized plug. One wire lead goes to on/off switch and other to the fuse. Where should I have the hot lead connect? Some say the switch so chassis isn't energized when the switch is off, other say hot lead to the fuse.
    Also what Caps/sourcing did you use on the PC board? Can't wait to get this up an running! Many Thanks!

    Hi Terry, did you replace the selenium

    • @geraldschrader8511
      @geraldschrader8511 4 года назад +2

      All the underneath the chassis shots show the selenium rectifier still in place. It really should be replaced with a diode!

      I personally replaced them just because but make sure you put a resistor because the negative bias will need to be checked to specs

    I have a dozen of them I need to bring back to life...any suggestions on replacements for the 7199? I have no problem with rewiring the board although I would like to keep a couple units stock...maybe I'll find a few good 7199s in the set that I have.

  • @bootstrapjesse

    I'm pretty sure that not a pre-amp. Since it's a power amp, I don't think it has a preamp. Dynaco refers to it as a "Driver board." Could be wrong though...

    El sonido es bastante bueno , pero hay que considerar , que la fuente de sonido proviene de una fuente digitalizada tratada con equipos transistorizados. Lo ideal, seria probar con una tornamesa y un preamplificador valvular.

    Don't know if you are aware of this vintage fact about Dynaco wanting to team up with Avel a transformer builder in Great Britain in the early 1960s, Avel made toroidal transformers and in the mid 1980s I managed to acquire a prototype from a retired Avel engineer, the duo project never got off the ground as far as I know as the Avel transformers were to expensive for the Dynaco retail market.
