As much as I like El-P's production the RJD2 re-mix hands down captured the mood & emotion this song was truly trying to convey, there is no competition the re-mix tops the original in this case.
yes people. Lets all appreciate and feel the realness and the depth of this one. Its times like this I am just astounded by how music is just like something I need to breathe and feel
I love both versions, but I think the original beat is more abstract and discordant. This is much more dulcet and easier to get into, I'd probably use this version to get friends into the album. More accessible version I'd say.
As a non native speaker I am really glad I found this version first. The remix made it more accessible - like you said - and therefore made me listen to the lyrics. The original would have been (like many great songs) something I'd might have had experienced years later or maybe wouldn't have at all, lyrically. All in all I couldn't tell which version I like better, they both have their individual styles which make them unique. Funfact: Even though I now do speak English and am able to experience rap on another level than before I still listen to Eminem the way I did 20 years ago - for 90% of his songs I have no idea what it's about since it's too hard to catch without genius :D
I retract, bc I’m sitting here buzzed and listening. I will always love the original bc it’s home base but hearing this in the state of mind I’m in now makes me see that this version is the equal opposite It depends on the observer and the observers perception in that moment. Two sides of the same coin. But one side is original

One of the best songs ever made here
I totally have to agree, I used to have the cd of this mix (Yes cd) and it's so much more on point than El-p's, sorry el-p!
Have to disagree, respectively..
Completely surpasses the original
nah the original shits all over this
this mix is fire..vast aire plus rjd2 is puremagic
One of the greatest HIP HOP Tracks of all time!! 🔥🔥🔥
Definately one of the dopest rap songs I ever heard. So much truth in each part.
yes people. Lets all appreciate and feel the realness and the depth of this one. Its times like this I am just astounded by how music is just like something I need to breathe and feel
Even years later Vast still reminds me what hip hop can truly be....
Cannibal Ox is something what hip hop can truly be
Vast Aire will always be in my top 10 MC's ever! That guy was outta this world bro. High school days fam!
Cannot forget this song! 2021 heads what up!
Man. This is definitely one of RJ's best tracks.
rjd2 took a good track and elevated it to infinity and beyond
There are few hip-hop songs that impact me quite like F Word, but this RJD2 track is fucking boss.
What're the others? This shit is Oh my God
"This is more than just a song and when he's treating you wrong I'm more than just a shoulder to cry on...the F-Word!!"
I love both versions, but I think the original beat is more abstract and discordant. This is much more dulcet and easier to get into, I'd probably use this version to get friends into the album. More accessible version I'd say.
nice
What you wrote is pretty succinct. I like the original better now, exactly cause it is more abstract and discordant. But I got into it via RJD2

I cant fully agree but I must say I enjoy how this instrumental has a subtler tone and allows the verses to flow through on their own
Underrated & Undervalued REMIX here...
I prefer the original El-P beat, but when the chorus comes in on this song...HOLY SHIT!
agreed, el-p's production on cold vein was so cohesive with vordul, but especially vast's vocals and lyricism so well
it's like i can just keep liking the song each time i play it!
I'm caught in between future's fantasies and memories I played back.
The perfect example of beats and lyrics coming together.
been looking for this one .. this never gets old
this is one of the best mashups ive ever heard tbh

Better than the original.

Still nice though

@Jinrikishaa the f word in this song = friends ... listen to the lyrics man, don't be deaf to the genius that is Cannibal Ox
Fuck all that bullshit bro. This is the best remix of all time! Any genre! Vast Aire is like "HOLY SHIT!" when you hear his voice!
Shout out to the true hip hop heads
RJ’s remix suits the track better.
Who delivers better punchline raps than Vast in quantity with quality?
word.....awesome shit
who the fuck are the 3 people who disliked this need to learn
Damn...
hip hop is not dead. vaste air justput it to bed in the song. no one else even needs to make music anymore after this album
epic
girl I see you
It's a good song, but it definitely isn't better than the original. Cannibal Ox is perfection.
this is fucking sick
@Jinrikishaa Friendship...as in the Friendzone
When the guitar picks up at 2:00...
Think you mean your welcome!
@bazeebaz tnx...:)
You are stressing my nerves!!!!!!
both versions Droga
Id tattoo this song on my body!! Thats how important it is!
Stilllfire
I think a lot of us prefer this song to the original :P
I sharted in my hand and slapped myself in the face once. Ended up with conjunctivitis.
Sick ass moth.comfuckin remix takes the song to the next level
debatable i suppose
Not being stupid ... but what is the f word? Friendship? Or the swear word? Lol there needs to be a def jux school for ill lyricism.
Jinrikishaa I always thought it stood for multiple words. Flirting, Feelings, Fucking, Friends, Forever, Forgotten
nah.
I love RJD2, but the original is far better.
Nah, this is nice but the original beat is sparse and sad, like the words in the song.
Maybe I'm biased, but I think the original is a lot better.
agreed
