    As a neutral rugby fan, after this game i thought the ABs - Boks rivalry had been lost forever. The gulf in class was monstrous and I thought that All Black walkovers would become the norm. Then Rassie came in and the Springboks got their old swagger and mongrel back. The rivalry over the last 3 years has been back to what it used to be which is fantastic for the international game. In the last 6 matches the biggest winning margin has been 10 points and many games like the two in 2021 have been decided on the hooter. What a difference one coaching change can make. After this game if someone would’ve predicted the Boks to win the RWC in 2019 they would have been called an idiot.

      Everywhere. The quota system was already in force when Jake White was in charge, a good 12 years before this. Furthermore, the quota system was not the issue in 2017; we suffered from a combination of our rugby being left in tatters by Heyneke Meyer when all of the veterans he insisted on playing all retired concurrently, and the fact that Allister Coetzee was not good enough to grow it from there - in fact, he was not good enough to coach the side, period.
      It was a lot more complex than that, so this is the simple version.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. The ABS for me were just clinical and out performed this Boks team...secondly the Boks players started strong, but after the ABs started scoring everything fell for them. Their line outs were bad, they made too many miss tackles etc.(theres other things but can't be bother to say).
    Even with the new coach, they still couldn't beat the ABs during their RWC 2919 match.

    Am on the 25th minute. so far the boks are actually playing really well. i think they actually left two tries unscored already. two mistakes and a less than effective defence than now in 2021 was their only problem. but you cant blame them yet for aron smith quick thinking for that first try. although comared to the 2021 springboks they would have been focused enough in their defence .to stop that. i wonder what went wrong after this. because these boys so far are playing really well. even on attack we have broken many times already

    40th minute. just before half time the Boks are attacking like the Allblacks. compared to the 2021 Boks this Boks side has attacked better. In this first half i think they have had 4 breaks through awesome attacking play with awesome offloads. i would say the 2021 Boks which is 60% of this team can actually attack. Now that they have sorted their defence and set pieces then they need to bring this attack back in their game. that will make them invisible like the crusaders.

    Kitshoff, PSDT, De Allende, De Jager and Pollard all on the bench. Shows just how clueless A Coetzee really was

    • @Karma-qt4ji
      @Karma-qt4ji 3 года назад +1

      The only one that surprises me there is Kitshoff. If memory serves me correctly...:
      Damian was recently back from injury and not in the same form he had been in 2015. Serf in the starting line up was not a bad option at all.
      Pollard was also recently back from injury and even in the return game in CT, was not deemed fit enough to start so came on as a replacement again.
      PSDT was still pretty kak lol. He was still battling with the move to flank and Coetzee even had to defend his selection in that opinion a month or so later. PSDT only really took to that role when Rassie stepped in. All hail mighty Rassie!!!! XD
      De Jager on bench with Etzebeth and Mostert starting? Meh, could happily accept any of those three starting and the third on the bench. Not much in it really.
      By the way, you know how you think that Coetzee was really clueless? Actually, he was worse than that!!! But the selections mentioned were okay in my books. Maybe because he was not the lead selector at the time?

    Now this is how you beat the Springboks. Attack their set pieces, dominate them physically in the rucks and mauls, play with flair and guile, and force them into making mistakes and punish them for it. Both teams are very different nowadays but this is the template to follow. The Lions failed by trying to play the Boks at their own game and lost badly.

    • @Karma-qt4ji
      @Karma-qt4ji 3 года назад

      Everyone knows exactly how the Boks are going to play, but not many teams can actually stop them from doing that. All Blacks are probably the only ones at this stage, but you won't be getting 3 free intercept tries and you can't afford to give us 7 tries like you did against the Aussies. I think the All Blacks might have the edge here but I doubt it will be a blow out like this game.

      Talking crap! Alistair was appointed because SA Rugby wanted a coach that was going to move the Boks away from their traditional style and into the expensive, running the rugby the ABs used to win the WC in 2015. At the time they believed if Meyer couldn’t win the WC with physicality then we needed to start running the ball. Alistair was successful with it at the stormers and in Japan hence they picked him over Rassie.
      That is why we shouldn’t be tricked back to that nonsense 7s rugby and stay true to our traditional ways.
