Daniel Cormier sits down with ONE Championship's Angela Lee as she talks about her battle with mental health. In this conversation, Angela discusses her own personal life events as well as the loss of her sister, Victoria, and how these moments in her life led to the creation of FightStory.

The story about Angela and Victoria is truly devastating. The Lee family and one lost something special. Important topic society is afraid to address 😢
Victoria Lee passing away was a gigantic shock. If it shocked us fans, imagine how brutal it must have felt for her family. She wasn't even out of High School yet. I hope and pray the family can live life without any emotional pain.

Respect to Angela for coming out and speaking about her sister's suicide and her own suicide attempt. I have no doubt that her efforts will encourage more kids and adults to try and reach out to a friend or a psychologist for help and support a lot of humans in taking that first step to finding a way out of the pain and suffering they're handling alone.
All the assumptions must've forced her... many thought covid and the vax killed her.

Same story with my father ,I was only 11 years old.
Well I'm sure your father never gave interviews like Victoria where for the past few years she has publicly globally expressed her age and medical concerns in a manner that would not anger upset or make those closest to her feel guilty for their lack of care. Because at the same time she clearly demonstrated a purely loving desire to live life to its fullest extent by expressing physical freedom each and every day all year long in the way of martial arts. So the question is why did your father not teach you how to recognize such aspects of life and death. Another question if you truly care why don't you want to see a police report here the tape of the 911 call or a criminal forensic scientist study. Because when a person truly cares the go above and beyond never overlooking anything. You fools are ready to forgive and forget MoveOn without knowing the situation in its entirety. Because you don't care about yourself or anyone else even though you falsely convince yourself otherwise. So at this point if you truly care you may wish or pray for Victoria's much-needed spiritually sought after soul and spirit to transcend through and within time similar to if she had got to live out all her life's dreams to the fullest extent may be beyond. Then simpleton was you need to do is live in accordance to validate such a confession of love for anything less is useless and therefore of no true value.
It's so sad to see Angela deal with so much pain and tragic loss. DC as well. Nothing but strength and prayers for their families, hope for healing for Angela now in her grief.
Your sympathy and level of care concern is idiotic. Because if you truly cared about Victoria you'd be asking about a police report a criminal forensic scientists study something that was suggest that whoever proclaims to care had went above and beyond leaving nothing overlooked.

I was always in such awe of Victoria Lee as a fighter and her skill level and how young she was plus I was born and raised in Hawaii and you always root for people for Hawaii no matter what. I was also extremely shocked to hear of her passing away that day, it was so shocking. Her life and death has such a strange pull on my heart that I cannot explain. I guess you just see the infinite potential in someone young but with that skill. Life sometimes hits hard like a brick wall, emotions are soo soo heavy/dense. May she rest in peace, I’m so sorry for the loss.

This interview had me in tears because I know what she’s going through. I truly hope that she finds a way to forgive herself and be able to find peace. It will be a long journey but eventually I hope to see her enjoy what you loved to do and start training again.

It's apparent that Angela is still very fragile after everything that has happened. While her suicide awareness project is admirable and a feel good story, I hope she and others don't put added pressure on her that could negatively affect her. I would like to see Angela focus all of her energy on getting herself well first above anything else, including her career. I am disappointed that Daniel Cormier didn't ask her about whether she is receiving professional couseling or if she has joined any suicide survivor groups. It would also be helpful if the producers of the video had provided information of various suicide hotlines/resources in the video description, since this whole segement is about pursuading people who are mentally struggling to get help.
Wow. I appreciate the deep conversation. I can relate. I had a step-father who died. I though I dealt with it, but each time I brought him up to my wife, I started crying. Nowdays I think I talked enough about him because I don't cry no more.
If you ever feel suicidal, remember your younger-self and know that is who is worth fighting out of the darkness for. Storms will always pass 🙏

I am not having a good day today at all. I’ve been through a lot in my life. And hearing this interview is giving me more hope. I always try to be better but like she said it’s hard man. But the hope of helping others really makes me want to keep going. Thank you Angela, really

I lost a friend 4yrs ago. He was just 25yrs old. The loudest one and the happiest one. He made sure his friends mattered to him.
Me and my brother are jiu-jitsu partners we were in a band together and he ended his life in March this year. Ironically I tried to end my life by vehicle in 2018. When I heard victoria died on my bday I cried my tears out. When Angela revealed it was by suicide and her accident was an attempt as well. It's very enduring for me to hear her story. We literally going through the same phases in our lives at the same time.
Angela is a hero of mine. I don't want her to suffer this lost or deal with this mental battle but seeing her in the same place as me helps me feel like I'm not alone.
Thank you DC and Angela for speaking up about mental health. Life is hard and cruel at times. Sometimes that safe space seems so hard to achieve and it’s feels like there is no way out. It’s never easy to go through it or especially to watch someone you love so dearly suffer as you sometimes feel helpless. We all need to remember and remind others that this too shall pass. Things may not be fixed immediately but it will get better. It breaks my heart to hear the stories of lives that are loss to suicide. May they rest in eternal peace.
Thank you Angela for speaking on this matter. A lot of people speculated and said some pretty nasty and disrespectful things.
As someone who's lost loved one in sudden tragedy, I knew you and the family would speak when YOU were ready and able.

Thank you Mr. Cormier for this moment. As we were all shock upon Victoria's death, how could a young healthy person pass away with no explanation. The incredible courage for Angela to come out to explain her story gives light to what Victoria was going through. I felt you could have just as well have the same conversation with Victoria if she was still with us giver her side of the story.

Man props to you Angela for sharing your truths and condolences for your loss as well as you DC. I would always watch everyone of you ,Christian and Victorias fights as you all represented Hawaii. I tried to take my life back in 2013 and the worse thing for me was the words I received from my loved ones and to this day the quote from Keanu reeves when interviewed by Colbert on what happens when we die and he answered with “ the ones that love us will miss us and losing a loved one never goes away. I lost a son and it hurts me to this day and the only thing that got me through it was being blessed with my daughter a year later but that never goes away. Our minds, our pride and our egos can be the greatest threats to our wellbeing in moments of depression and being so overwhelmed. Thank you again for sharing your story to bring awareness to help those who are going through it to speak out so they can get the support they need to help them see brighter days. Condolences to you and your ‘ohana.
I really wish Angela would have fought in the UFC. She would have been a lot of fun at flyweight. I wish her all the best, losing your sister that early really sucks.
That's insane, ONE has way better competition and the fights she have had have been incredible. The way UFC treats its fighters is also not deserving of Angela.
the ufc doesn't have atomweight and she would be too small at strawweight

@@natemarx4999 unless the fighters actually compete together it's hard to determine just based on world rankings. Whatever skills gap exists are getting closer every year as the promotions develop their fighters.
It's not all about the fighters rankings, I prefer to watch ONE, has better promo value, fights are more fun, more knockouts, and more bonuses given out, plus you get Muay Thai, BJJ, and MMA. F UFC, boring promo@@natemarx4999

Around 10-14 yrs old, I often thought of suicide, I was young and let things that seem silly now bother me.
I'm 52 now, with a baby girl, and a great rewarding career in education. I'm also a black belt in jiu jitsu. I often think of those times now as my students are similar in age to me at that time.
may i ask at the time what was it that made u thinking of suicide?

People want to find a logical reason for things like this, and often want to assign blame, but very often it really makes no sense. The best thing is to realize that you're not thinking straight, and be able to reach out and find someone to help you find the sense and inner strength that is eluding you.
Understanding that you are not alone in this struggle is key, so what Angela is doing is so very important, and so very brave.

Man. Victoria’s passing was a massive shock. I used to think about killing myself everyday until I really started reading the Bible and truly trusting in Jesus. I know what its like to feel alone and when you do communicate it always ends in yelling and feeling like my family would be better off without me. Glory to God I never followed through with my fantasies of attempting it. It feels like no one really cares about me alot of times too but I know that is Satan trying to take out one of Gods children. Satan knows the stronger we become in Christ the harder we are to confuse. So He strikes when we are weak. Stay strong brothers and sisters of the most high God. ❤❤❤
