A proper way to make a router ups is using 12xx series ICs. It will properly cut off power due to discharging. Otherwise the router keeps restarting. I've tried a few setups and found this solution as the best way. Thank you.
Very clean and I have designed my own similar system that uses a battery maintainer to keep the battery charged. Only problem with that ups board is during a power outage the relay switch takes a few milliseconds which is just enough time for the router to reset itself and not stay continuously on. I am going to experiment with some larger capacitors once they come in the mail and see if they will be enough to support the short transfer during the relay switch.
Were you able to maintain the continuous output during switching with the help of capacitors? I was thinking of the same but not sure if it will work. Please let me know if it works and also what size of capacitor did the work.
I hope it will work. I have Big Digital clock. it was on cell. I converted it to AC & Battery. At the beginning it was giving me the same problem. The watch was resetting it self in between changeover But as I added the capacitor the problem was solved.
Very great watching and it's nicely done. However in market for Rs.999 only we get handy UPS for wifi it includes battery inside gives 4 hr backup during power cuts

That automatic switching module (#0:52) just switch the connection. It can not charge the battery. Btw this video makes me realize that it is better to use 2 power supplies (1 for the battery, another for the router, or other things) in this type of circuit. Thank you for this video. 😇
Why did you use XL4015 5A Power Supply Step Down Module when the Power-OFF Protection Module Automatic Switching Module is capable of charging the battery?
I'm making similar box for my 9V router, but will use DC step-up for charging 12V battery from 9V power supply instead of Power-OFF Protection Module. That way 12V battery will be always automatically charged and ready.
be careful. you will want to use a protection circuit as to not overcharge the battery (or just use an off-the-shelf smart lead acid battery charger)... overheated lead acid batteries tend to boil internally & self-destruct (well not explode-explode but their case cracks & the acid goes everywhere)
@@tophlaw4274 not also ideal to always charge the lithuim cells to full. i also have a 8.4v ups pack boosted to 12v. after a few months one of the cell died. the method used in this video is much safer for batteries either lead acid or li-ion, you can swap batteries when needed. that way you can stack up some salvaged batteries and make a 2s or 3s with a parallel of 3 or more. the only issue is the switching of the relay has a delay of about 1 second. an electrolytic capacitor might make the handover seemless.
@@rosekreuze I never mentioned anything about charging to full... just that it's a bad idea to keep charging batteries constantly. Lithium batteries are a different story charge-wise as heat becomes a major factor (moreso than keeping them always topped off)... which the LahisTech's approach will actually do. Also, lithium batteries require a proper charge voltage that smart charging circuits will provide (including automatic cutoff to prevent overcharging as well as overdraining when it's unplugged) definitely a must have if you're planning to use LiPo/LiIon batteries.
If this board also delays the switch causing device to restart, then Switching can be done using a 12v relay and a Diode. No need for this complete module.
you need the yx850 that also charges the battery. its actually the same board but with a big diode in-line of both the positive input. or you can just add a diode yourself 😂
I have made a similar setup for my router, for daytime use case. I have two power sources, one js adapter & second is solar panel (18v 8A). I used a buck converter LM2596, a 12v relay and a Diode for reverse current protection. LM2596 for solar panel to step down from 18v to 12.8v. This works great. When adapter gives power, it is default power to the router. When adapter is off (electricity off) then auto switch to solar. However still there's a delay as this video shows.
Can u explain the reason why you used a step down module here ?? does Automatic switching modules itself not charging the battery if it is on main current ??
Just make battery voltage to adapter voltage. and put it parallel to chager output..thts all. Normally routers work 7-12.5 v. That means a parallel leadacid battery can give 1-2 -3-or 4 hr of uninterrupted power. Im using like this, now its 2 year 🎉 no problem.
