- Uncle Charlie purchased a new MX6000 during Covid and found out that the rear hydraulic multipliers were on back order indefinitely. (Kubota is still back ordered.) After some digging he found a company called Summit Hydraulics that had add on kits with electronic solenoids to do the same job. The flail mower was purchased from Messicks last fall do do along the creek, roads, and hard to reach places that its not safe to use a zero turn, or the brush hog wasn’t practical.
Per Charlie: The kit works great, costing about $1000 for it and the lines, but I’m not super fond that I have to switch between switches and use a lever. I wish I could retrofit some sort of lever for each one - but maybe I’ll get my hands on the OEM ones in the future which have the levers.
The Multiplier added 3 pairs of ports to the rear of the tractor connected to the rear main remote.

I took the same mower against some of my 8-foot-tall grass out in the back last weekend. The clippings lay on the ground a foot deep, which held the mower up off the ground. The slotted top-link connection point on the mower's hitch liked ejecting the lynch pin, so there are two top-link pins out there on the ground somewhere. I eventually put a 3/4-inch fender washer under the lynch pin, and so far the third top-link pin hasn't been lost. If you try cutting brush with the mower vertical, drive forward -- not reverse -- because the uncut limbs will offer some protection from the ejecta from the ones you are cutting.
Thanks for the tips here! We will keep those in mind so we dont lose lynch pins. Thanks for watching the video!
What style and size female coupler was compatible with the Del Marino and where did you source them…I plan to go either with a coupler to my existing 3 port spool or a “t “ to a second spool .and have separate levers for all …top and tilt and offset and rotate……what parts were leaking….?
The leak was from using the fittings that came with the multiplier to the primary rear. Switching to the ones that came with the tractor fixed the leaking.
I actually feel for this one expecting to see some actual footage of mowing grass. All I got was a lecture from jimbob Jones on how to do mechanics on a mower thanks for nothing
Hey there. Sorry this wasn’t what you were looking for. We tried to be clear with the title and description identifying that this was an installation video. There are more brush clearing videos coming as I’m clearing nearly every weekend.
Hydraulic what?
I see no practical use in the flail mower other than very steep banks. I would choose a brush hog.
Between the brush hog on the L, and the flail on the MX - I much prefer the Flail. It really cuts things up nicely almost mulching it.
We purchased it for handling ditches, creek side, etc but have been using it to really clear all the brush.
I’ve been contemplating getting a 84” flail mower to replace the bushhog.
Got a ditch bank and a brush hog. Brush hog lays useless in a heap when you have both.
