What a sweet ride the M600 is. Just Perfect. Piper is a great company. If you ever get the chance, you should visit the factory in Fla. Thanks for the vid.. and PLEASE.. more!
Thank you great video and thanks for not using any music - the curse of many other aviation vids. We all like to hear the real sounds of flight and the comms!
@@ronjay1209 not yet but getting close. I hope to take checkride in the next few months. My instructor flies professionally and has trips. Plus he is extremely tough on me,lol. But that’s a good thing. Thank you for asking. I appreciate it
The M600 is what I always wanted Piper to build. I flew the Meridian, but it just did not have the range. The longer legs on the M600 make it much more practical.
Steering this aircraft on the ground is by using the rudder which is also linked to the front gear as well as differential braking on the main gear. Handles fairly nicely on the ground, but is no BMW ;-)
I was in awe watching this video. What an amazing flight with my absolute favorite airplane! I’d love to get my hands on a piper meridian someday. I’m about to finish my commercial multi certificate at cornerstone aviation at OGD. Iv seen your plane taxi by a couple of times while flying around. Maybe I’ll see your plane taxi by again sometime :) This video was a good pick me up to stay motivated, so thanks!
Thanks! I love talking to as many pilots as I can! I’m always looking for new professional aviation connections to mentor me and help me grow as a pilot. If you ever need a safety pilot or want to talk flying. I’d love to get in touch with you!
I'm intrigued what your thoughts would be on a constant 3-degree descent profile from TOD, through the approach, to landing. Flying RPT in Australia, at least with my employer, we're required to do this for pax comfort and fuel efficiency purposes, but it's not something I see much of on American youtube flights. Is "dive and drive" the norm? Genuinely curious.
These M600's have been awesome for us. We are on our second one, and have been from Mexico to Alaska and all 4 corners of the lower 48, and have just loved it. Comfortable, efficient, capable and lots of range. Can do Anchorage to Salt Lake City 1900 nm non-stop with a light tail wind. No complaints so far :-)
@@alpenpilot2429 thanks so much for the reply. It certainly seem an extremely versatile aircraft with great reliability and presurisation from the turbine and none of the disadvantages/costs of a twin. Having it built and supported by a main manufacturer instead being a conversion would be for me at least be a major plus. 👍👍
So cool! So when you are in IMC with a glass cockpit, do you not really have to “scan your gauges” any more? Don’t you just fly the little fake video game airplane in the PFD? I mean at least most of the time?
You really just have a slight different scan. All the 6-pack information is there, in a slightly different format. Should also periodically cross check against the other primary flight display and backup instruments. When the workload is high though, yeah, it is kind of like looking at a video game ;-)
Actually no hardwired gear information. However the gear can be displayed on any of the 3, 12 inch displays, which are on separate busses, so would be extremely unlikely to get a 3 screen failure. If in doubt, you could always do an emergency gear extension, and assume that you get 3 down and locked. Bad day if you lose all the primary screens ;-)
Going up, we had some pretty vicious headwinds, so if I recall we did about 3 hour legs. Stops in Bellingham, Yakutat, and Anchorage. Coming back we had a little bit of a tail wind, so made it nonstop just under 1900 nautical miles in if I recall six hours and 45 minutes. No bathroom on board, just little chemical travel John’s. Those come in handy when necessary
Highway in the sky below 18,000'. It is formed by an outbound radial (magnetic course) from one navigation aid and then an inbound radial to the next one.
We had 60-80 knots on the nose for around half the flight on the way up which really slowed us down, so we made a stop in Bellingham WA and Yakutat AK, overflying Canada so we didn't have to clear customs. On the way back with a little push we went Anchorage all the way back to Ogden non-stop. 1865 nm in 6:45. Being a single engine we followed the coastline around instead of direct over the ocean.
@@alpenpilot2429 I stopped in Yakutat in my Lake amphib one day for fuel when northbound in 2001. About 400 and a mile at the time. Stayed and caught silver salmon until weather improved.
After I finish flight school, maybe my dad will buy me a Piper M600. He’s a very successful business man, he has the money. No reason for my dad’s money go to waste. I know some people will say I’am spoiled little rich kid.

Wow 🤩 I was on this plane several times. But your route is great 👍
amazing flight, on the bucket list to fly that plane that route!

As a pilot (working on instrument rating) I would love to just fly right seat someday. I'd pay for it,lol. Such a beautiful plane. A pilot's plane!
Carmen did you ever get your rating?

range is always a factor of how far you can go before you have to go to the bathroom (in plane with no bathroom)
That is why a pc 12 can be your choice and if you ve got more money . A pc 24 super versatile jet thqt can take off on grass on unpaved runaways
Not a pilot, but, love the plane and video. Great camera angle.

Great video. Would be a little nicer with a camera in the middle to see the instruments better.
Okay about the mic its nice to hear the engine
great video. greta piloting. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful airplane there and great video. So when you landed did the airport diagram automatically pop up in your PFD?
BRO! How did you set refresh rate on the camera, i always have the lines on g3000 with a go pro:D on my m600
I was curious as to why were you still holding the yoke in ap? other than to talk.
I meant during flight b4 the approach sequence began.

you burned up like 18 seconds of runway lol
Let me know if you ever need a copilot. Student at CSA and almost finished with my ME Commercial.
Beautiful.
Awesome video guys, how do you rate the m600 as a single pilot long distance cruiser?

Don't scan in IMC because of digital format?
What do you recommend, keep eyes out the window lmao 🤣🤣
It sucks that you can’t hear the engine at all
Is there any steering wheel for ground movement on this plane? This maybe a dumb question, but I am not a pilot.
You use the same “wheel” you’d use in the air
@@walrusbfv6862 you use the rudder on the ground
Is there no hardwired backup for the gear indicator lights?

How long did it take to fly? Is there a bathroom aboard? Thx

Great video. How many fuel stops and flight time to reach your destination in AK? Aaron from KOGD.

Why are you flying from the right seat?

260 MPH inground speed? What was your TAS..
260mph is 226knots, whether he was displaying TAS or GS i don't knot but the conversion from one to the other idicates as such.
Hi alpenpilot
What year is your piper? It’s a beauty. I will keep watchin’ if you keep postin’ them vids.

what speed gain and other advantages did you achieve with the 5 prop blade?
wow
Nice flight but so bad and boring view.
