As an artist, I watched through the entire three-part series thinking to myself, 'Wow, this artist is a genius.' Your whole process from start to finish is so thorough, and very inspiring to me. I'm not a beginner but this video series gave me more of a glimpse of what it's like to pursue mastery. I respect your work, process, and mind an insane amount thanks to these videos, and appreciate works like yours a whole lot.

I have been working as an illustrator and graphic designer for 15 years now, but only last month started to learn how to paint with oil. I already have gained so much understanding for my digital painting as well. The fact that you mix digital and classic painting is what makes this my favorite RUclips artist channel. You checklist in this video = awesome insight into your process!

I'm so happy more artists are working in both traditional and digital. There are still so many people who disregard digital entirely.

Awesome, one if not the best series of videos on RUclips.
I like the feel of this painting and comp better but I did like the stylized look of slice in the first better

I really appreciate the honest answers and information you give in these videos. Your work is very inspiring. Thank you for including your older art. I think some artists would shy away from their earlier art, but it really helps to see improvements over time. The original piece was pretty good but I think you blew it out of the water with the new one. Thank you for sharing!

I still remember when you told us you didn't know your first video with oils was so relevant for some people, and we have been reaching this point. I absolutely loved this process. One could say that with some years we get better at technique, but you point to the brain work like the star, and let me totally thinking. The artistic process is so important. Thank you so much for this video . sorry for my english tho, I speak spanish.

Cynthia, thank you for this series! It was so good to learn about the planning phase and how critical it can be to the overall success of the piece. The composition and story of the final is so intriguing.

This a great series of videos going over process. Really liked your thoughts on intention & caring about areas when evaluating a painting. Something I need to do more in my work. Up to this point most of my criteria for if a piece was finished or not revolved around technique & whether or not the image would serve my client the best it could. I like how going back to one's intention & caring as an artist makes it more personal.

Truly mesmerizing, both digitally and traditionally. I am so glad to have found your work, since you embody everything I aspire to be one day. Mastering color and light to tell stories, with intriguing characters.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the digital vs traditional debate. In general, watching and listening to people who do different styles or mediums is very useful. They all have different insights and even if they're not all applicable to your style you can glean a lot of helpful stuff from them

Great video series - I loved it and learned a ton. There is so much amazing information from these videos that I have to watch them again. There's a lot to chew on and digest here. I loved what you said about learning from different mediums. I don't really see myself doing digital art, but I find it fascinating. Art is art - meaning, the basics are the same; values scales, color choices, light and dark, light sources, etc. I would love to hear what you've learned from one medium that helps you in another (specifically, digital to oil and vise versa). Awesome video - amazing art! Thank you!

I just found this channel and this might be one of my favorite channels ever. Please make more videos like this!! I would love to see them. I struggle a lot with starting out composition for my paintings, and being an art student usually we get asked for a lot of refined ones that you can make some sense of. I was wondering if you could make some videos on how you go about compositing your pieces, figuring out if they're good enough to start painting, etc? Thank you!

Nice work! & I guessed 40hr so I was pleased to be correct lol. Seriously though I can only do 1 illustration this complex per week, either traditional or digital, with traditional being longer or shorter depending on size & medium. Ironically, digital used to take me longer bc I zoom in and get mentally lost & then realize 2hr passed. So I set a timer to stop every 40m during the rendering painting. This also forces u to get up & stretch. I do wish I could thumbnail like u bc I hate it & feel like I'm being tortured when the AD wants a bunch of comps
