    One big thing you forgot: stamina management.
    In 6:46 you have just enough stamina left to do your chain bash. But you don't have enough left to feint into a guard break. If the LB were smart, he would've dodge bashed you and put you oos, knowing that there's nothing you can do about it, after that he would have a 50/50 with his unblockable that would most likely kill you.

    Quick tip 90% of the time openers (first swing into mix up) will be a light so knowing that just be quick on reaction an get that light parry. If they have a bash then you should be ready to dodge or expect light opener. Other than that you just gotta put time in an get brutally destroyed until you figure it out we’ve all been there it sucks lol also that you that Kensi conditioned into dodging after heavy

      Because all their lights get parried. All their "ctrl + c, ctrl + v Leigon Kicks" get dodged. All their moves get interrupted.
      And worst of all, they have the reading skills of a toddler and the self-control/restraint of one.

  • @ek35rock84
    @ek35rock84 Год назад +11

    This is a lot of good advice, however, I would like to note that there may have been better choices for demonstrating the 'good 'defense' aspect of this video other than Conq. Again, this is not to diminish the overall solid advice. I would suggest using a character that doesn't have as many options as Conq does throughout his chain or for his openers.He is very safe to play offensively with due to his innate properties and how much damage he can get off with a fast, simply animated bash that also has a very fast recovery. As well as easy-access unblockables that force the opponent into moving without much risk to the Conq.
    Personally, I think Warden, LB, Kensei or WL would have been a bit more effective in communicating those points due to their simpler, less protective kit, forcing the player (especially in a duel setting) to get creative with how they play and initiate/continue offense. These characters would also open up the floor to talk directly about how punishes work and what different kinds there are (wallsplat, knockdown, OOS, OOS knockdown, etc.).
    It's good that you went into how reads work, maybe if you make another one of these tips videos for the reads section, you could talk about how even certain characters have specific patterns. Like how a lot of LBs with throw a top light as an opener or bash. Or Cents usually only doing a jump, kick, or getting close and throwing a light.
    Overall, good video, by no means perfect, but it is definitely the start of something good. I'm looking forward to seeing more. :)

    If like to say that it’s good to notice what way they throw after an attack. If they ex. Throw top attack then right or left attack over and over you can pretty much rule out that they going to do top attack twice.
    This is especially useful against conq, aramusha and medjay who all have a infinite chain attack

  • @bingus3671
    @bingus3671 Год назад +6

    I only have 1 issue with this, and it was your first point. The game is becoming more about reading than reacting. If you play based on reaction, you’re going to end up eating a lot of attacks. All of the most recent buffs and new heros also make it much harder to play reaction based. You gotta find the sweet spot in the middle where you react when needed and read when needed. Everything else is great, good advice for new or returning players. Well done 😄

    Hey! This popped up in my recommended. Even though im also a veteran player (i have around 1200hrs+) this guide is really well made. Super good information on how to read, how to counter spam and general good tips!
    Just wanted to add that not every hero is designed to perform exceptionally well in every game mode.
    Picking your hero is also very important and team composition is really important too, especially in dominion and breach modes. You can't have a team full of duelists and expect to win against 2 shugokis and 2 raiders. Obviously you can, but what im trying to say is that there are heroes who specialize in ganking and have amazing ganking tools and there are heroes who are better in 1v1's and you should pick a hero that is more proper for the type of game mode you're playing.
    Heroes that are good for dominion and breach usually have big attack hitboxes, good feats, hyper armor and a lot of health.
    Heroes that are better for 1v1's usually have a lot of mixups, fast lights and bash mixups.
    Unless you're repping up a specific character, then by all means go ahead and grind those armor sets!

    Secret tip for the PC players, look after your physical and mental well-being (console players can do this too ig...)
    Take a quick break to play a high reaction intensity game (osu, aim trainer’s, reflex games)
    Put some practice into learning animations and shit
    And then just react to more or less everything the opponent does (in duels) and win

  • @Integer_Overload
    @Integer_Overload Год назад +2

    Coming from a rep 10 here, I'm gonna expand on the "learning heroes" tip. it's my experience that most players(at least in my current skill level) Meta-game to hell and back, meaning they use the internet to find a specific hero's most damaging punishes and best combos, which can be very annoying to deal with. You can counter this by doing the same thing, but learning said combos to counter them. Take Jormungander right now. There's Jorge's all over the place doing the exact same chain of hits bevause it's a pretty great combo, but because I know it, I'm ready to deal with it. You don't HAVE to meta-game to win games, but it definitely helps to understand your opponent's biggest strengths and how to react to them. You don't have to be a light-parry reaction god if you know what they're most likely to do before they even push a button

    • @olakpasa6486
      @olakpasa6486 Год назад +1

      ok , its not bad to use a strong hero , especially if they like the kit , and , just as you said , it annoying seeing people use the same exact combo in the same exact character over and over again , but that's how for honor works , every hero has its unique playstyle , thats why every player playing jorm tend to bash a lot , cause it's his main tool , with this said , as you start getting more experience in the game , you will notice little variations on how anyone plays their hero , one might like to feint a heavy into gb while other might like to feint into a light , one player might like to dodge more and other will try to catch the parry...
      Overall the new player experience sucks but you will start getting better matches eventually , hone your skills , get a grip of how do YOU like to play and forget about meta heroes (unless they are super broken, like the zhanhu dodge change some weeks ago) , overall , try to have fun and dont worry to much about people abusing broken tactics

    Brilliant vid man! On the off chance you read this, I’ve improved a lot since giving this vid a few watches and I’d consider myself ‘ok’ for my overalll rep (14, I started playing about a month ago). My only struggles I encounter is where I try parry/deflect a majority of the time (even during lights combos when it’s better to block) and ‘wind-up(???)’ heavies (which I parry/dodge too early on) which I’ll get noted down after more time. Love your stuff man, all the best for you!❤

    If y’all wanna know how to get good know ur heroes strengths and weaknesses and also ur opponents, what they can’t and can do so u can predict their next move instead of relying on reaction time parries majority of people who play the same hero play them the same and Stam management don’t get too greedy now, turtling is another thing you’ll have to do against some players as much as I hate it sometimes it’ll win you a game. it’s also ok to lose a round to get a better understanding of ur opponents play-style if they play unpredictable, just knowing what their character can do can put u in a better situation so if u miss the first parry or miss the dodge bash and you know there’s a follow up after you’ll kno bc of ur knowledge of the character

    what's really hard with low level gameplay is that when you're trying to mix up and feint your attacks, some opponent's will not even acknowledge it. you will legit feint the same shit 5 times in a row, and they'll parry you when you think "they'll expect it the 6th time" and don't feint.
    a classic for me is when i play warmonger into dodge attack spammers. i'll hit them with the same 2 hit pressure chain into undodgeable, and the one time i faint it, they are still dodge attacking.
    i guess that's why making reads is more important and has to precede mixups and feints.

    I just reached the 100th rep on my account with PS5 and I think there’s something really important to point out. Consoles reaction time is way lower than PCs. Basically when it comes to mouse vs joystick, there’s no real competition, mouse gives you an advantage. And it’s really frustrating because I always end up in servers of all PC players vs me with my PS5, that and also the rep level gap between me and my opponents (I usually play against rep 500th or higher, reaching even 1200th reps)

    Only thing left out is that you need to light parry, once you get to a certain point people will just light parry all your openers, second attacks, etc. Crazy

    One tip,tho tbh applies to basically every game, when you feel burned-out, take a pause of a few days. The frustration you can get from this game is.. Quiet a lot, and sometimes the Matchmaking is rather unga bunga,is better to call it a day

    Gaming really used to be fun for me, now I’m just angry with a side of depression, even with practice the game still works so hard against me (at least that’s how it feel). Every bit of damage I take in a multiplayer game tho it’s virtual, it feels like a literal real life slap to the face and like I said I’m practicing just to have no progression to the point where my days now feel some what ruined and to be perfectly honest I’m having really REALLY violent thoughts and feel really destructive. I like the animations of this game and customization and stuff but it’s like what’s the point of playing just to feel like a damn doormat for everyone else online, these thoughts and voices of people laughing at my failures won’t leave and it makes me SICK and yet I still get on the game to try to improve and yet I STILL SUCK (Inside and out). Feels like a never ending cycle and all I really want is just to enjoy video games the way I used to (among other things that made me happy) but sadly it seems I’m just not allowed to progress. Sorry for the paragraph, these are just my daily thoughts 😕

    SunTzu basicly preached all that already roundabout 2500 years ago. "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." Just to quote one of his. 😎👍

    Always start with a controller because once you go M&K you can't go back
    I started with controller, dropped the game for a few years, got back on with M&K, and now I can't use a controller. Maybe I need to practice more on the controller(used it for two days and it sucks) but yeah, it is very hard to go back.
