      I am a fan of this podcast - I like and support you on RUclips but I want to point out that that most of the major World Tour events are geo-blocked on GCN+ in the US. TdF, Paris Roubaix, Flanders World Champs and lots of others are all blocked in the US. I subscribe to GCN+ but, because I live in the US, I only get to watch a few of the major events - really only MSR and the Giro. Everything else is not available. You should point this out - to be fair to your viewers - of which I am one.

    After all our expectations had been built up in the lead-up to LBL, they were immediately shattered with the news about Pog's abandonment. Nevertheless, Remco rode an excellent race well supported by his team and was a deserved winner, though obviously we never got to see the big battle with Pog that we had anticipated. Let's hope that Pog recovers quickly and is back to his best in time for the TdF. In three one-day races with Remco (SSC, WC and LBL), Pog for one reason or the other has always come out second best and I hope that he is able to turn the tide at this year's WC as well as Il Lombardia.

    Velasco was strong. In the breakaway all day, only one able to stay with Tratnik, caught before Remco attacked and still finished 19th, 2:13 down, only 50sec behind 5th place.

    The scaphoid is a special of the wrist bones because the blood supply is in reverse. I was only a Junior Doctor in surgery but remember that from anatomy lessons. Think standard management of a broken collarbone is to do nothing. Might have changed since I last did orthopaedics though. So you wouldn’t typically have surgery anyway. Old people that have hip surgery can often walk around the next day. How quickly they can use the arm depends on what exactly is done for the surgery. Also you can cycle on a trainer with an arm in a sling.
    Incidentally, the injuries cyclists pick up are often the result of falling badly. They should have a World Tour League in Rugby Union so they learn not to stick their arms out.

    I don't really get why everyone is so shocked by Quickstep's classic seasons these past two years, then acts like Remco's LBL wins were necessary to save them. The current incarnation of this team is basically a climby/GC team built around Remco, so I don't see why people still treat them like the Tom Boonen classic specialist-style team and expect them to win Roubaix or whatever.
    Anyways, we missed an epic showdown between Pogy and White Bibs Remco, but maybe it will pan out in the world champs!

    I can agree that expecting QST to beat Pog, VDP and VA with this classics team isn't realistic, but these are still the same riders that did well in past classic seasons 2-3 years ago, so they should at least be fighting for the win in races without those 3 and top 5 with those 3 (or podium if only one is present). So they really underperformed compared to the riders they had (and not bringing Schmid to the cobbles was a mistake, but what if Schmid himself doesn't like them?).
    Apparently Asgreen's preparation still wasn't optimal due to his injuries from last year and some others struggles with illness or injuries. But that still doesn't explain enough imo.
    Anyway, I do think QST wants to evolve to a GC AND classics team, and not just switch to GC. So the explanation for the bad classics season being the switch just doesn't sit right for me.

    This result does not really “save” Soudal-Quick-Step’s spring classics season, although Benji will have to tell us about how Belgian cycling media react to it, maybe it leaves a less bitter pill to swallow. The worst thing that could come from victory in LBL in my opinion is that people start to think of Quick-Step as a classics team again.

    Can someone explain to me why I Ineos Grenadier‘s helped Soudal quickstep. Their shutting down of the break made no sense.
    If you know that Pidcock doesn’t have his endurance why would you burn up the race?

    • @rulifaller8474
      @rulifaller8474 Год назад

      Yeah they should have had someone up there with Tratnik instead of just riding as if the favorite was in there team like in some long ago past. The problem IMO is that Pidcock and his entourage clearly believe that he is on the level of the Galacticos, and he just isn’t. He just cannot beat any of them in a straight fight. Not on the road, not in cyclocross. Only in MTB he is really the elite himself, on all other terrain he is just below. Better for Ineos to accept that for now rather than constantly hyping him up.

    • @skippypicasso
      @skippypicasso Год назад

      @@rulifaller8474 I came here to say this. I don’t dislike Pidcock at all, but even fans have to admit that outside of MTB his big wins come mainly from a reduction in competition. He’s got some great attributes from attitude to bike handling, and at another time he might have been among the greats, but as of now he’s kind of “the best of the rest.”

    • @durbz6657
      @durbz6657 Год назад

      Ineos like to up the pace before a climb for better positioning. They do that everywhere, and more often than not, their leader blows up on the actual climb.

  • @durbz6657

    Hot take. Pogacar abandoned intentionally because he did not want to get dropped by Remco with Remco just doing his normal pull (like what happened to Pidcock) 😉

  • @jademermaidmusic
    @jademermaidmusic Год назад +2

    Your take on the contract situation is ill informed. It doesn’t matter if Remco’s contract has a penalty clause or not. It’s a contract in the European Union and it would be illegal to lock anyone for the duration of the contract. If a penalty is not explicitly defined in a clause the law likely provides calculation mechanisms based on Remco’s salary if he decides to leave (another team would pay)
