I think this had way more to do with it being playoff drivers. And, I don’t like lumping Blaney at the Glen into the mix, because Blaney could drive, he just couldn’t steer. Thats a MUCH different issue that I don’t know if they’re even allowed to repair, and if they could, if they could’ve done it without the DVP window anyways. I mean, Harrison Burton had his steering rack replaced at Bristol and it cost him like 70 laps, which is over 10 minutes, and that car was in the garage area with “all hands on deck” and not on pit lane with a max of 6(?) crew guys working on it.
It’s also because of teams openly displaying frustration about the rule and it clearly showing that it isn’t effective in its current form. So it was changed
For me, SS racing was it's greatest during the tandem era. Lead changes every other lap and many tight and exciting finishes. For the most part, that age just lacked the big crashes. Which, to be blunt, is why fans called for changes which eventually brought back the massive pack.
Eric, Your take on Super speedway racing is correct. What NASCAR is trying to sell us is just not that good. That doesn’t just apply to the big tracks either.
Harrison Burton always runs well at the super speedways. Some of these teams who are looking to run an extra car at a few of these races, should get Harrison Burton for 2025 at Daytona and Talladega.
It seemed that the aero upgrades did a good job. There were several moments where a car could have flipped and they didn’t. Cincdrics rear tires came up and went right back down
Racing’s still been fantastic on the 1.5’s and Superspeedways too. Road Courses are a hit or miss and yeah short tracks still do suck but people act like everything about this car is horrible, yet this year has been phenomenal
@@JackLikesTrackhouseNo matter HOW this car is made, it's a JOKE that has independent rear Suspension, this is Nascar NOT IMSA, its not suppose to be great at road courses, and no so great at short track. And it's all because the junk transaxle transmission, they should of NEVER gave the down force to COME FROM UNDERNEATH the car, it should be American car designs. And like the Camaros , the mustangs , it should STILL have a manual H Pattern transmutation and a rear end that has worked for 70 years, so my point is , rear defusers and a transaxle thats a transmittion an rear end as 1 unit is a horrible design flaw !!! , it should still have a rear end like the Xfinity series and truck series , it's a BAD design of a car, and it don't MATTER the car, there the best drivers in the world of stock car racing, they will have great finishes inna go cart race. But that doesn't n mean the car is good. It ABSOLUTELY NOT HAVE independent rear Suspension on a transaxle, that's not made to go in circles , it is good for left and right turns , but Nascar turns left in 98% of all laps , just stating a massive design flaw, and the sad part is THEY COULD FIX THIS, but there to prideful to show they made a mistake !!! Again the drivers out there could give the fans AWESOME races on LAWNMOWERS, IMHO ,
I honestly think Brad is free from blame in this one. The shot you show at 9:58 shows the entire bottom line skewed trying to make up for the lap car. It’s likely all of those pushes were off center, culminating at Brad. I think if Cindric wasn’t there, Brad gets loose and wrecks.
16:24 I appreciate you bringing that up and agree with the take, yeah the 4 wide was awesome, but the booth was also fairly quiet about them being a second and a half off the pace. They were running 51.50's saving fuel 4 wide, and as soon as they gunned it and started running flat 50's, the outside lanes dissolved. It's cool to see 4 wide, but it felt artificial. I hope we continue to work on this car to improve our most unique product. It still was an awesome race, and was cool to see so many green flag laps without incident. I just hope we can work to get a package that can form a new line and power to the front.
It feels like more than ever that it is extremely hard to make moves. Stenhouse and Keselowski started overtime 1st/2nd and finished there. Kyle Busch tried to make a move and plummeted to 19th.
Love how Chase and Chase was allowed to continue racing after being towed to pits. Love how caution flag came back out after red flag and no one moved except pit crews working on their cars for minute or two 🤣
Missed most of this race due to a family emergency but from what I saw from the highlights it had everything you would expect at Talladega definitely will enjoy watching this one.
I don’t see any fault for that last crash. The bottom line got disorganized and, similar to earlier with Blaney, the two had no momentum with a car coming right at him and Brad was being pushed by Joey who was being pushed.
I was there. Ive attended every Talladega race since 1998. Never fails to amaze. Stenhouse ran upfront pretty much all day so all you so called know it all couch rider crew chief owners keep watching it on television. The dude is great at Superspeedway races. Well done Stenhouse. Dude knocked down Kyle and later on in the season, knocked down a winners trophy and checkered flag before Kyle Busch has😅
As a Chase Elliott fan, I don't even know what to feel today. 29th place finish, but he gained 9 points on the cutline heading to one of his best tracks. I was there in person, but let's just say I don't have the sharpest memory of what exactly happened today.
I was impressed by Cindric today; one of the best superspeedway drivers all year and right up until the Big One happened, he felt like a legit Round of 8 upset. As for the aero, perhaps they should bring back the roof spoilers from '01.
I was there. I was watching on the big screen when the wreck happened and saw smoke coming from turn 3. It was massive and it took a while for them to get all the cars out of the grass. Thankfully, all three of my guys (Bell, Bubba and Jones) made it through and all finished in the top 10.
I’m did not see Ricky win but that wreck help him and did anyone see how the 2 had one tire off the ground and if he didn’t hit Joey or Elliott probably would be flipped
@@shaheerahmed5134 It's Superspeedway racing. That's the nature of it. No guarantees. I felt sorry for Cindric. He was driving a great race up to the crash.
I wouldn't put the wreck squarely on Brad-K. He got a hard push from behind as Cindric ran out of momentum. Short of riding his brake hard, there's not much Brad could do to avoid contact with the Cindric.
The real question I have is whoever designed these tires are stupid for not having inner liners. Literally every other motorsport and cars have inner liners on their tires, and you're not beached. I don't understand why they didn't test that
As a Denny fan I was hoping that this race didn’t end like the spring where they went 2x2 all the way to the Tri oval and then wrecked when most could make it to the line. To go from -17 to +30 in 1 lap has to be the biggest 1 lap gain in nascar history, aside from wins of course. Dennis lookin like a genius now
Eric I understand what you said about brad and causing wrecks but I can recall this is the 8th time where either brad is getting pushed by Logano and a huge wreck happens or vice versa. It’s literally always those two together and they get stacked up and cause a huge one. 2020 500, 2021 500, 2021 Talladega fall x2 I could go on and on how many times they do it but it’s just the 22 and 6 and sometimes used to be Almirola too.
I did not expect you of all people to put the majority of that crash on Brads hands. Considering he was being shoved how many cars deep AND was on the brakes. It's not like Brad really had much of a choice in that scenario and was likely trying all he could to square up with the 2 while trying to also maintain control of his own car. Idk how much time you've had the chance to spend on the sim, or any NASCAR game for that matter, but pushing the brakes while being pushed causes the car to become upset. All those other instances you've mentioned I completely agree, Kes is not someone I'd be too excited to have behind me either, but this wreck was not on Brad.
I’m 79 years old and have watched NASCAR telecasts since the early 60s and this is by far the worst I have ever seen, the crash was bad but the spotter gibberish was 10 times worse. What the hell was that? Who the hell wants to hear that, it’s specific to one car and means nothing to a fan and they did it 3 times.WTH.
Eric did you know in 2003 there were 20 drivers that won or eventually won in Cup were in it that day over 21 years later the Biggest one yesterday, over 20 drivers had won in Cup at least once were apart of the pile up. Fans had fun for sure unless their guy was in it. Third Turn said 7 were in the first one, so technically we had the Double Big One, The like the 500 the 2nd one was the biggest one and left quite a mess.
To blame Brad Keselowski for what happened is ignorant. He had nowhere to go. He got a huge shot in the back from Logano and Cindric lost too much momentum. Even the broadcasters said that it wasn't Keselowski's fault. Even Logano said it wasn't Keselowski's fault. I don't what race you were watching but that's a really bad take on your part.
Eric, I would love for you to do a breakdown of the total cost of that crash and how it affects teams and suppliers. Engines at 28 cars, we will go with $80,000 per engine (I've seen prices all over the place) that's $2.2 million just for engines, WOW
@@rocksreviewsreactions337the difference is what was wrong. Blaney had a broken steering column, and they weren’t gonna be able to fix that on pit road within the DVP anyways. Obviously they were able to get Elliot back out in track
Now that Blaney owes Bowman a payback, I don't like the 48 cars chances of finishing the ROVAL race. No way Bowman advances to the round of eight...as long as Blaney has anything to say about it.
I was pretty much hoping Chase would get going again when that wreck happened. Damaged looked worse on the outside than the inside so very glad he got running again after that amazing run up until that point.
I get what you're saying. My guess is that Brad is known for being aggressive and guilty of being the participant of many speedway wrecks. Hard to break a bad reputation regardless of intent. Public opinion kinda thing. I believe comparing the 2, generally speaking, drivers may feel better, when it comes down to it, having Bowman behind them instead of Brad. 🤷♂️😇. Not a fan of either, but recognizing their skill
@@AR_420 that's stupid, but probably right. Just like most of life it's not whats actually right or wrong it's who we like more or what feels better that determines what's right and wrong. Yes that looked bad at first. But loved the shot when Ross was in the lead alone and behind him 4 rows side by side. That was amazing! Too bad Ross fired too late in the season!
Keslowski has been like this dating back to when he was a youngster. His aggressive driving has caused numerous crashes. One that always comes to mind is Carl Edward’s at Talladega. He is one of the best on super speedways. It’s just his driving nature. Some are very aggressive where others are a little more cautious
With the current stage format, it's not necessary to run a 500 miler. You can just run three 15 lap stages with mandatory pit stop and the result would be the same. Cars go all together in stage 1 and stage 2, some cautions happen if there's a mistake, then in the final laps we've got a massive pileup and overtime and then one random guy wins the race. For me, the only way to give meaning to all those 188 laps is to not throw the caution at the end of stages and get rid of the double file restarts and the wave around rule, in order to make difficult to unlap yourself and keep high the attention when there are green flag stops, because everyone can loose the draft. Right now, if you loose the draft and/or make a bad pit stop, just wait for the next stage yellow or the final carnage. I've just watched the 2007 Daytona 500 and it was awesome not because they were passing all the way around (there were few lead lap changes), but because the tension was high and the climax raising. Nowadays, if you're car is bad, just wait the others to wreck each other or bump a random car just to get an overtime restart.

Fewer survivors in that crash than Bengals losses. Also shoutout to Daniel Hemric for ARCA. breaking
Yeah wtf with him Days of Thundering it through a 27 car wreck.
Cincdrics rear tires came up and went right back down
Everyone wants to complain about this car but they ignore all the great finishes we’ve been granted.
With the DVP and the fuel saving, This is one of the reasons why NASCAR is being sued. They don't know what they're doing!
Those things have basically nothing to do with that
These things have been in nascar for a while lil bro
Dude knocked down Kyle and later on in the season, knocked down a winners trophy and checkered flag before Kyle Busch has😅
when they were 4 wide i was waiting for someone to do their best 2012 stewart impression
As a Chase Elliott fan, I don't even know what to feel today. 29th place finish, but he gained 9 points on the cutline heading to one of his best tracks. I was there in person, but let's just say I don't have the sharpest memory of what exactly happened today.
As a Kyle Larson fan, I’m still trying to figure out how he managed to dodge a big wreck. HE FINISHED TOP 5!!!!!
I know this is great!
As an Elliott fan, this round has been rough, but we’re still +13 going into arguably his best track, so I’m feeling pretty good all things considered
Bowman did lifted but he was already getting shoved by Larson plus Blaney got hung out
yeah, I don't understand what Bowman was supposed to do there, especially with Larson up his butt.
@@bakedalaskaxLarson backed off too I was on the camera view in the app it's called momentum in the draft
Love the shirt bite switch and the background.. impeccable
Byron has the most superspeedway wins in next gen, Stenhouse tied for 2nd with Logano
4:41 anything wrong ? They are the ones who consistently start wrecks and are never involved
2024 The Year of Photo Finish
I was at this race. The 4 wide 10 lanes deep was absolutely incredible. The croud was in awe around us.
Chase Elliott fan here, sweating bullets but confident about next weekend.
Same
I was impressed by Cindric today; one of the best superspeedway drivers all year and right up until the Big One happened, he felt like a legit Round of 8 upset.
As for the aero, perhaps they should bring back the roof spoilers from '01.
Talladega really was awesome today
I was thinking of playing Jaws music or even Thomas music when playing the Big One. They kept dancing until it broke. And they went Goodnight Gracie.
I’m still shocked that Elliott made minimum speed in time. 🎉
After letting him back out there and shouldn't have
the 4-wide marathon in stage 1 gave me so much anxiety because I just wanted Larson to have a clean day
Eric is confused that NASCAR is not consistent? Are you ten second Tom?
This was Chase Elliott they won’t tow him to the garage
I was there. I was watching on the big screen when the wreck happened and saw smoke coming from turn 3. It was massive and it took a while for them to get all the cars out of the grass. Thankfully, all three of my guys (Bell, Bubba and Jones) made it through and all finished in the top 10.
I’m did not see Ricky win but that wreck help him and did anyone see how the 2 had one tire off the ground and if he didn’t hit Joey or Elliott probably would be flipped
18:25 110% right on Eric. In stage 2 I called it, the bottom 2 lines took off once they stopped saving fuel
0:06 yes (Larson)
Still trying to figure out how he wasn’t caught up in that wreck. It’s almost a guarantee at this point that he’s in a wreck late at these places
Been waiting on this upload eric great job
Elliott did not derserve to be in the wreck if he doesnt make it in to the rnd of 8 i dont know what to do
So did all the other drivers deserve to be in the wreck? 🤔
@@brendancahill7328everyone else also didnt deserve to be in the wreck aswell
@@shaheerahmed5134 It's Superspeedway racing. That's the nature of it. No guarantees. I felt sorry for Cindric. He was driving a great race up to the crash.
@@brendancahill7328 yh i get you i also feel sorry for cindric running so good and then all hell breaks loose
I don't understand why they didn't test that
not the tire designer's fault, someone brain surgeon decided to go to a larger rim for bigger breaks and now there's no room for an inner liner
@@tyler7433They could put a liner in but they like the low profile look and it sucks these cars stink IROC on steroids
Not literally every stop exaggerating
@@charliewhite3992shut up
As a Denny fan I was hoping that this race didn’t end like the spring where they went 2x2 all the way to the Tri oval and then wrecked when most could make it to the line.
To go from -17 to +30 in 1 lap has to be the biggest 1 lap gain in nascar history, aside from wins of course.
Dennis lookin like a genius now
Where was that rules are rules talk from you after Indy🤔
Eric I understand what you said about brad and causing wrecks but I can recall this is the 8th time where either brad is getting pushed by Logano and a huge wreck happens or vice versa. It’s literally always those two together and they get stacked up and cause a huge one. 2020 500, 2021 500, 2021 Talladega fall x2 I could go on and on how many times they do it but it’s just the 22 and 6 and sometimes used to be Almirola too.
BOWMAN FINISHED LETS GOOOOOOO
Press F to pay respect for cindric man 😔
Shoutout to daily downforce for the turkey bites at ‘dega. Got me through the heat all weekend 😭
erik jones top 5 im happy 🥳🥳
I’m 79 years old and have watched NASCAR telecasts since the early 60s and this is by far the worst I have ever seen, the crash was bad but the spotter gibberish was 10 times worse. What the hell was that? Who the hell wants to hear that, it’s specific to one car and means nothing to a fan and they did it 3 times.WTH.
Shout out to hocevar getting another top 15
I would be up for Carson Hocevar winning a race this year.
We’ve saw big 4 wide on the track, the big one strike, battle for the lead changes and I’ll give a 86.9% ratings
As a larson fan i’m astonished the biggest crash ever wasn’t caused my larson 😭🤦
Or wasn't caught up in it
Eric did you know in 2003 there were 20 drivers that won or eventually won in Cup were in it that day over 21 years later the Biggest one yesterday, over 20 drivers had won in Cup at least once were apart of the pile up.
I don't what race you were watching but that's a really bad take on your part.
keselowski even said on the radio something along the lines of "the 22 was shoving me into him, nothing i could do"
@@mateojohns05 Yeah straight up. I forgot about that good catch. If anything I blame Gilliland for not going middle and going low.
Eric, I would love for you to do a breakdown of the total cost of that crash and how it affects teams and suppliers. Engines at 28 cars, we will go with $80,000 per engine (I've seen prices all over the place) that's $2.2 million just for engines, WOW
Blew my mind chase Elliot was allowed to continue after hitting the wall hard. NASCAR needs golden boy
My thoughts as well.
Yeah, a little biased there. He was worse than Blaney in the road course, and he was on a more dangerous track.
@@rocksreviewsreactions337the difference is what was wrong. Blaney had a broken steering column, and they weren’t gonna be able to fix that on pit road within the DVP anyways. Obviously they were able to get Elliot back out in track
that whole pit road incident was a crazy thing... i was screaming at my tv.... logano said it perfect. '' it was a disaster down there''
Now that Blaney owes Bowman a payback, I don't like the 48 cars chances of finishing the ROVAL race. No way Bowman advances to the round of eight...as long as Blaney has anything to say about it.
I was pretty much hoping Chase would get going again when that wreck happened. Damaged looked worse on the outside than the inside so very glad he got running again after that amazing run up until that point.
Chastain wrecked by a Hendrick car again!!
the big one really saved Denny's playoff chances, he was doomed before it lol
48 gives bad push= not his fault just a racing thing.
6 gits shoved in to the 2 by the 22 = brads fault he should have slammed on his brakes.
The halo effect in full effect. When my friend dose it I can empathize and make excuses when some one else dose it thare is no empathy or understanding needed.
Bad push better watch again the 48 ran fight over him wanted the win that bad
@@raymondhoffman4371 wooooooooshhhhh
What a great race!! Bummed about Ross's day, but glad he came out unharmed
Was a bit concerned when he didn't put down the window net.
Yes that looked bad at first. But loved the shot when Ross was in the lead alone and behind him 4 rows side by side. That was amazing! Too bad Ross fired too late in the season!
I was holding my breath there too. Glad he’s ok and still smiling. 😁🍉
First
If your not first your last
Keslowski has been like this dating back to when he was a youngster. His aggressive driving has caused numerous crashes. One that always comes to mind is Carl Edward’s at Talladega. He is one of the best on super speedways. It’s just his driving nature. Some are very aggressive where others are a little more cautious
Keselowski and Logana are good pairing. That 2021 Daytona finish...
Now honestly, if this was Chastain or Stenhouse and they hit Larson and wrecked out the #5 and 24 you would be so upset calling them BONE HEADS.
Happy that the 22 and the 2 didn’t go up-side down W for NASCAR this time
If I wanted to watch a bunch of drivers racing to save fuel, I’d go sit out front of a Toyota dealer when there’s a year end sale on Prius
“We just witnessed the largest crash in NASCAR Cup Series history. Did your favorite driver get through?” YES! THANK YOU BUSCHY!!!
The biggest one! I heard DW describe it perfectly one time, "The world's fastest junk pile."
