I made my first trip to Louisville in early October; I scheduled a tour at Angels Envy. I knew nothing about bourbon and can’t say I actually drank it before.( I know, hard to believe)
This experience was wonderful for me to start to learn. I really like this information, but for a beginner, I’d be lost in a room full of bottles with out any guidance or direction . Just st sharing my experience ( and looking forward to learning more!)

Great effort! Very useful videos. You asked if we knew of spots that may interest you. On a road trip last fall we spent a night in Elizabethtown and I discovered the Kroger Wine & Spirits shop there and, as you know, found a very nice selection and great pricing (for those with a Kroger card). We also scouted out a few other liquor stores in town and can suggest John O's as a place that stood out. Not sure I'd make a special trip from Cincinnati but, if you're headed that way, worth checking them out.

Recognized Evergreen from the thumbnail!!! Hands down my favorite spot in Louisville. Unassuming is exactly the right word. Great bartenders, great selection. I stop there every time I’m in Louisville. I’m in Columbus… recommendations- Middle West Spirits and their restaurant, Service Bar, are both outstanding. Watershed & High Bank are also great distilleries with good restaurants. A little north of CBus, in Delaware, is Opa! a Greek restaurant with probably the largest bourbon selection in Ohio. The owner is awesome.

In Columbus, or Ohio for that matter, you probably won't find anything just hopping around from store to store. This is because Ohio is state run with retail price control, and an up to date website. You'll have to find out what a particular store's delivery day is and wait in line, many times earlier than 7am. A lot of the stores have started to hold back allocations until Saturday mornings at 9am.

I just came from VA where that was the case as well. I now live in Louisville. Currently I’m missing being able to find allocated items like Eagle Rare at reasonable prices 😂. I used to buy a bottle for $38. Here the only time I see it is for more than double that. Trust me, there’s definitely pros and cons.

If you want to know torture, I live with it daily. I am the oldest grandchild of Arthur J. Cummins. If you want to read the history of a true Kentucky Bourbon family, Google " Cummins had Bourbon in their blood ". One of the great Pre Prohibition family distillers, my grandfather was a master distiller at 18, and running a distillery at 21. He got back to business with the Repeal and continued through troubles with Uncle Sam during WWII to be a prominent blender and private bottler until his untimely death in 1949.
The torture? Since I was 32 in 1984, I have been unable to drink Bourbon or any other alcoholic beverage due to a heart condition. Someone up there hates me.
Another fun fact, my great uncle's daughter, my grandfather's neice, married Fredi Heineken, yes that Heineken. Two great alcoholic beverage families joined.
