Decent effort in adding in more bus routes. Here is what i would change.
1 - Add in stops at major demand areas such as main train station and University by route extensions, currently served by 1 route each.
2 - Current cable car placement is poor, can be achieved by a path, need cable car to go over highway to station.
3- Route 17 is great idea, needs extension to Uni at newport end and stop at station in belmont and extended to housing area between freeway and highway down to river in belmont.
4- Route 13, i would have go around and serve all area of underhill and make the underhill to belmont part a tram line, which is a extension of the existing line that loops in underhill.
5 - Route 19 extend to university, and have it parallel the metro line one block above, not along metro line, like you have.
6 - Route 12 and 15 extend to central station.
Loved the bus ride, would love to see it for all routes. Awesome job adding in Route map at the start of each route you do on the video, makes it way easier to follow. Can you add the bus map and the map you used to create it to the discord please.

I think in the next episodes after the downtown is done, you should look to expand out similar to how you have done with port surrepo or maybe even revisit the farm town for an episode to switch it up

    1. Make the green line stop/end at the university train station.
    2. Connect up the highway over the river with an interchange to the other highway, to alleviate some of the heavy traffic problems on the highway.
    3. Develop Anchor Arrows and the space between hillside hill. Kind of completing/connecting up the city.
    4. Please lover the quay along Aster Park. It is waaaaay to tall and makes the water/harbour inaccessible to everyone. It is kind of unrealistic.
    5. Also fix the tunnel entrance for the metro by the central station. Remove the huge unnecessary car park and let it gradually descent from bridge to tunnel. Put some commercial or offices around it :)
Love your content man so engaging and you are so thorough and think everything well through! CAn never wait to watch your videos! Keep it up!

Hi ... so there is light and there is shadow.
First of all, you are not using a huge grid pattern - that means you do not need a transit line in every single street. Line 12 could easily be a shuttle looping around the block on each end - I'd even say the clockwise line is mirroring itself in a decent way.
#12 is also the better alternative to the downtown metro spur and a candidate to merge (long curve on a new road or tram-only bridge) with the Newport part of Line 17 to become a tram shuttle, even to be extended further South to end somewhere above the campus train station with stairs (steep path) down to the station. The terminus near the river could feature a pedestrian bridge to the stadium train station, which might hook into whole bridge system in stadium district.
#13 Good route through Underhill, but a little bit surprising how few stops the tram has. One in each corner of the rectangle would be great - the one where the tram enters/exits the district being mirrored. 7:45 The two stops at the station cause the line to loop around some random block. Just give the loop a stop - it would add coverage without causing the bus driver to drive even an extra inch. 8:19 A vehicle restricted bus-only one-way between the two skyscrapers would shorten the route and would stop the bus from turning around in the station parking lot.
#15 Now this bus line will hurt the neighbouring tram lines - it is fixing something that is not broken. The area is well served and transit means collective traffic. This bus line is over-individualizing the routes. The city should invest the money in improving the headways of 1st and 3rd St tram lines and 14:25 "being a bit more frequent with the stops" can also happen on the existing tram lines.
#17 OK, the Newport part already got a lot of appreciation with my tram suggestion. 17:27 For a second you hesitate with the mouse and the algorithm suggests a loop around the block in northeastern Belmont. I think an additional stop there or even further North would be great, covering a cul-de-sac hard to cover by an extra line. From the station I'd just mirror the stops.
Cable Car - 33:00 I'd build that a tiny bit further North but the Underhill Station is OK. 34:02 The best location for the Belmont station would be at the bottom center of the screen - right above the currency sign infront of your 1.4 millions. There is a gap between railway station and road bridge. It would offer easy transfers to the trains a currently 2 bus lines - you already gave hints to a third one.
#19 Again the Line 15 issue. This time your victim is a metro line. There is no real addition to the system. The areas of effect of the metro lines already cover the area. 36:02 562! This number is insane - these are people waiting for a bus to Newport - look 0:49 at the Newport branch, you cannot tell me that the visible metro stations have a coverage gap worth >500 passengers. These are mainly redirected metro passengers - and they are redirected by a problematic pedestrian/passenger routing algorithm. By the way, I think there are not tons of people arriving with Newport to Central Station busses on the other side of the street. Without a pedestrian crossing in front of Central Station the bus service seems less appealing and I guess the metro service has a higher ridership in the other direction.
#21 Sorry, but this is another line with problematic effects. This time against 7th Ave tram (the part with the upgrade of the one-way street) and the metro spur (Uptown) ... This line could be reduced to become a Campus Main Build - Aster Park 25:21 shuttle, connecting the campus closer to the metro and 7th Ave tram. The rest of the line is running so close to other services ... another shuttle could run from the main building to the campus railway station and 1:18 further into your new triangular area which might have a metro station at the tip of the triangle.
19:26 Wait, what do I see there? Next to the highway bridge ... the highway-parallel street has straight-on-only lane connectors? why? And 19:33 you draw red lane-connectors for a combined left+straight lane ... conventional wisdom says: if you have 3 directions but only 2 lanes, left should usually get the own lane because is needs to cross traffic and is the most complicated direction. And you do not have a situation (like a severely backing up cargo terminal) that defies that rule.

Thanks JMWZ! You've got some good feedback here. Definitely can keep refining the bus network a bit more. Part of the duplicative lines for buses mirror metro and tram is intentional. Right now it is causing some issues with citizens preferring the bus lines but once the tram and metro lines cover much larger areas and the city grows, these lines will be more impactful for local travel. People can take a metro from far away and then transfer to the local bus routes to get around in the immediate area.
Love the recommendation for the cable car, I will absolutely be moving one station to the area near the train station. I also think that I can do some work on Route 19. Especially in front of the train station, I think you're right that it's too heavily victimizing the metro and has limited connectivity benefit because there's no crossing.

First of all, I only briefly mentioned the routing algorithm, sounding like a side aspect. I think it is mainly the algorithm's fault - in a real city with real people making smart decisions busses would do a better job serving as local services for metros. But the citizens in the simulation are dumb and having a 20 second shorter walk to the bus stop than to the metro platform is causing them to forget that the bus is much slower and really (over-)crowded. TMPE is giving us the better traffic AI 39:20 for the streets but there seems to be no mod solution to fix irrational passengers.
I understand the city growth point ... yes, once you extend the CS - Newport metro line further South the Newport - South part might have low ridership, while CS-Newport could have overcrowding issues. A targeted stealing of passengers away from the overcrowded section might be a solution. But right now there is no target, it is rather a blind guess and the thief line is too powerful - at least in one direction. My blind guess would be: extend the tram line I mention in the Line #12 paragraph to the new metro station I mention in the line #21 paragraph and also create easier transfers between the extended metro and 7th Ave tram. That way passengers from the metros Southern extension with a destination not directly in the metro corridor transfer to more eastern or more western lines before reaching the overcrowded section of the metro.
An alternative way of coping with overcrowding in the downtown section of a line could be copied from the Toronto Streetcar network and its lines 504A and 504B - along a A-B-C-D route one service is covering A-B-C, the other one B-C-D doubling the amount of trams in the busy B-C downtown section. In the game's metro network, B and C would be four platform stations with the terminating line on one of the center platforms, the other one on the outside platforms.
Ridership comparison: 2:43 metro 788 tram 452 residents; 37:04 down to 582 and 283 - the tram includes one line outside the downtown area, this can mean that the ridership of your downtown trams was probably cut in half. Metro ridership is surprisingly stable, I expected worse numbers.
So my final recommendations would be:
#12 tram upgrade incorporating the Newport part of line #17 while deleting the metro spur; possible extension of the tram service to the 1:18 new area and its new metro station
#15 complete removal while having shorter distances between stops on 1st and 3rd St tram lines (roughly 2 [mirrored] additional stops each)
#19 complete removal; maybe to Newport loop could be turned into an experimental "Newport paratransit" service: a one-way loop covering about 2x2 or 2x3 blocks stopping every second road segment and giving metro access for those who cannot walk to the station - few, tiny vehicles.
#21 replaced by two shuttle bus services; the one to the new area might cannibalize the #12/#17 tram extension, maybe it need to be redirected to the west ...
