Could you do a video on what to do if your dog slipped there leash
In the other cargo pocket Carry a gun or two, I would suggest old school Marine Corp, Colt 45, at least one for each hand and twenty spare large capacity magazines, or just duct tape two magazines back to back

I was walking my dog yesterday and a large dog was loose and barking. His fur on his back was standing up and he started to cross the street to get to us. I was really fortunate that all I had to do was stand and walk towards him and yell, “No!! Go back home!!” and point to his house and he backed off. I was so relieved when it actually worked. Lol!

Don’t walk aggressive dogs in parks. Even on a leash they can seriously harm small children who don’t understand. It’s probably best to put large aggressive dogs down before they kill someone.
I can appreciate your perspective. No one wants to see children injured. It seems you think that dogs that are aggressive shouldn’t be rehabilitated.
Well yeah but also people should educate their chlidren not to chuck at unknown dogs without their owners permission because all the dogs must go out for a walk somewhere and its something nobody can control

Thank you for this video! I live in a city where people walk their dogs off leash all the time. The excuse is always the same, “But my dog is friendly!” Okay, well, my dachshund hates everyone, so....🤷♀️
It's my pleasure. I am glad that it helped. I'd also encourage you to help your dog know that they don't have to like other dogs but they do have to tolerate them and act calmly when they are with you. This way, you give yourself and your dog the best chance at having a good time together.

I had to do the same! And I also have a dachshund. She gets very skittish when big dogs come up to her without warning. I ended up yelling at a dog and telling them no and that seemed to work. Is so frustrating that people just let their dogs walk off leash.
This JUST happened to me. A very large dog came out of nowhere and was trying to attack my very nervous little dog. Snarling and growling. My dog is tiny, 11 lbs, and she was leashed but running around me to avoid being attacked while I stood between it and this big dog. I finally got the chance to pick her up and the owner came out & totally unapologetically called her dog in. Unbelievable! If you have a large potentially aggressive dog NEVER let it run free in a neighborhood where many other people walk their dogs! It’s hugely irresponsible and it was terrifying! Absolutely terrifying! It could of and wanted to kill my dog! 😖
I Wish there could be stricter laws regarding letting dogs loose
Happened to me the other day with my small cocker spaniel, attacked by an off-leash German shepherd. The owner said it was my fault?! 😂 People can be so ignorant.
“You might have to say some nasty things to the owner”… thank you for saying this. I have no more tolerance for off leash dogs and I have gone off on so many people whose dog was off leash and come running up to me and the dog I’m walking. They tell me to calm down or relax, but where I live if the dog on leash is aggressive and attacks the dog off leash then it is the owner of the unleashed dog at faul and they are responsible for all financials. When I tell them about that law and that I’m wearing a body cam and that I could report them, they look at me in horror and leash their dog and quickly walk away 🙄 please please please, before you ever get a dog read the leash laws and all animal control/transportation laws for your area/region/county. Stay safe and be responsible.
I carry a stick because I’ve been in that situation before.
Justin Moore it’s just a difficult circumstance and we have to be prepared to advocate for our dogs. The stick can be useful but I just wish I didn’t have to use it.

It happened to me very recently. My Belgian malinois and I were walking in the street. I had my dog on leash and an off leash pitbull attacked us from behind. The first thing I did was let me dog go so that she can protect herself and I helped her instead of stopping the fight. I got bit in the process on my hand by the pitbull but I had to help my dog who had not done anything wrong. Poeple, if an off-leash dog attacks you and your dog, please don't try to hold your dog back and let the leash go so that your dog can protect itself. I see people holding their dogs back and drag them around through their leash, it's as if you are helping the attacker injure or even kill your dog. Give your dog a chance for the defense.
I’m sorry this happened to you and your dog. I’m glad you did what you did. Who knows how this would have turned out otherwise…
Get some Pepper spray and a Teaser ! Also get your dog a spike collar when walking! The spike collar will prevent your dog from neck bites! Most dogs are scared by the spark and sound of a teaser! Also Pepper spray takes the fight out of them real quick!
Not all dog can defend themselves - breed and sizewise.
This is an interesting series of question, I have a big reactive dog which I can handle with all my human strength, but it goes very weird when an off leash equally big dog is trying to challenge/charge each other.. the second slip leash is also not going to help, should I quickly tie my dog on a pole and then get ready with my extra slip for the monster running towards me and is almost halfway now..
If I let my dogo argentino defend himself, he gonna kill that poor pit or random stray, so can’t really do that too.. any help is appreciated
I have taken a random stray to the hospital, got him fixed coz he charged at my dog and it was the last time I let my dog defend himself..
I had two dogs run up to me yesterday, I put my dog to the sit position an grabbed my pepper spray which is attached to my wrist via the company that sells this pepper spray includes this. I barely hit the dogs with pepper spray, an they both left, I carry three forms of protection an hope never to have to use the last two. But mydog an my health will always be first.

Bending down to at least act like you picked up a rock, rare back and pump your arm like you are aiming at his face... I've never had a charging dog not change it's mind. A walking stick is always nice to have though.
I usually Stomp once and puff my chest and yell "get back" in a loud deep voice. That usually works for me
That's what sucks about off leash dogs and your walking a dog aggressive dog. I adopted a shepherd (no idea of temperament because she was depressed at the time). I dont want to get her in the back yard all the time so I take her to the park or just walk around the neighborhood. I have a collar, harness, and sometimes a gentle lead on because I know she's dog aggressive that way I have more control of her and keep her by my side. Just sucks if she bites another dog whose off leash it's still my/my dogs fault despite having multiple things on her.
Kierra Woodard I know exactly how you feel. I would just avoid walking in the areas where there’s too many off leash dogs.

Well, I always yell to the owner " MY DOG BITES " so they know it's not my fault if your dog gets bitten and you're not obeying the law by keeping your dog on a leash!
I think having your dog on a lead is being responsible and anyone that doesn’t do that is just simply ignorant. Use a extending lead so you can give freedom but with safety ? People adopt animals with different backgrounds and needs and as dog owners you should understand how sensitive they can be. Just be mindful and stop letting your dog run wild 🙌👊
This happened to me this morning - I have a dog-reactive dog who I have done extensive training with to curb this. We have come SO FAR with his training, but a single bad interaction can set us back so far. We were walking this morning on leash and an off leash dog came running up barking non-stop, the owner very far away. I put my dog behind me and hissed and kicked the air to keep it back. Its frustrating because the owner kept saying "he's a puppy, he's friendly" and telling me to stop yelling at her dog and to calm down. My dog is now friendly to calm, polite dogs, but has no patience for rude, barking puppies. I was so frustrated. This is the second time I have dealt with this owner in my neighborhood - next time I will not have very kind words.
I carry a switchblade pocketknife and pepper spray: the knife is for any off-leash dog that attacks mine on-leash, the pepper spray is for a potentially irate owner.
I sure hope that you never have to use them and you can just enjoy your walks with your dog.
Hate to see your first line of defense is a knife, I carry one too but it’s 4th in line of defense.....

Discharge the teaser they are scared of the sound and the visual effects they make! Pepper spray is an awsome backup! Today I repelled a pitbull discharging my teaser! Both the teaser and the Pepper spray was recommended by a police officer! Keep the tools and have more then one back up!
I’ve had to do the puffed up super aggressive “GET” at dogs at least half dozen. It has worked so far. Most dogs are like “Oh #! I’ve gone messed with the wrong lady!” I’m not naïve to think it will work every time or that I won’t eventually have a dog attack me. It gets us out of some potentially dangerous situations, but my over the top reaction to keep us safe also affects how my dog feels. Unfortunately it’s gotten to the point where it seems like we can’t walk anywhere anymore without someone being an idiot. We literally had a dog jump out of the back of truck passing by come after us. No matter how responsible I am I can’t possibly control crap like that. It’s actually caused a lot of mental anguish cause I just want to provide my dog some enrichment and exercise in peace.

Not just walking dogs. If you are active outside at all, you will run into bad/ignorant dog owners often. It’s sad really.
This happened to me and my 9 week old puppy yesterday. I’m terrified of dogs so my fear ignited the situation. I spent 20 mins fighting for my dog to be released and a man just walked right past us, with no hesitation to help. Awful experience!
I think owners should get bigger fines for dogs not on leash

I didn't get what your trying to say. If your dog is already on a leash what's the extra leash for? Is it to give away to the person without a leash? Is it to swing around to scare the other dog? The answer wasn't clear to me?
A pitbull just attacked my jack Russell corgi mix. He is alive thank god!!! Received several sets of staples.. however it’s my neighbors dog so god forbid another attack. So I need to know how to protect my pup,
I’m so very sorry this happened to you. In the end, using your personal strength and and tools you have at hand to defend your dog is the solution I can see.
This happened today. A small mixed breed charged my two black Labs. My dogs warned it, but it continued to charge and tried to bite. I had no other protection other than the leashes. The other owner ran and was able to get her little dog. I am now looking at getting a taser, and a handgun. It could happen at night too.
Today was the first time I dealt with a charging dog. Walking my 7lb dog I saw two girls with a dog 3x bigger than mine some how that dog got loose from their grip, ran across a busy street to get to my dog. Everything happened so fast I ended up on the ground trying to separate the two while the girls were circling around us half ass when finally I got my dog. I told them to hold their damn leash and for them to get their dog away from mine as they’re defending themselves saying oh she’s just a puppy and super friendly…fuck that!! I’m surprised I didn’t react more aggressively than i did…luckily no injuries but now I’m gonna take these measures into consideration. My dog was on a collar leash so I know now I gotta have her on harness to pull her up if god forbid this happens
I had an off leash Shepard type dog charge at my 8 month old puppy and she got scared and yelped really loud. I don’t think the other dog was being aggressive?? I also didn’t want it to get close enough to us to find out. It charged at her REALLY FAST and I didn’t know what to do because I’ve never been in that situation and she’s my first dog. It was our first experience being charged like that. I’ll be sure to carry pepper spray with me going forward.
I've had an experience where a pit bull came running and started attacking my dog and me damn I still remember it so clearly like I had so many injuries....tbh I don't blame the dog I blame the owner it wasn't even on a dog park or something it was on a freaking road
I have a Miniature Poodle and a 12-week old AussieDoodle, I walk them together every day. Last night as we came around a corner a German Shepherd came running at us wide open, wasn't growling but scared our puppy really bad. She was screaming. I had never heard a dog do that before. Just a side note the owners came out and got the dog quickly. The owner's attitude was worse than the dogs, they didn't even come back out to see if we were alright. I did yell at the dog and I had a whistle but with two dogs at my feet and this dog coming at me I was feeling pretty helpless. I went back to their house to ask if their dog was current on its shots because it scratched my hand. I see your recommendations but when I'm walking two dogs at the same time it's hard. Also, now that my puppy has been terrified of a big dog, what's the best thing to do for her?
Gwen Westhoff I’m so sorry that this happened to you. It’s a difficult situation for sure. If I’m walking two dogs together, then they both have enough obedience that I could drop the leashes and still have control and then deal with the charging dog myself. If I can’t do that, then I don’t walk two dogs together. I know that doesn’t help much but now but perhaps now walking your dog together until you get to this point. There are several things that your puppy is going to need to overcome this and you for sure are going to have to deploy patience and diligence. Here is what I suggest. 1. In every way that you know how begin to reinforce on a daily basis the importance of being behind the front of your body, on your left hand side with the leash 100% slack. I think you should work your puppy for its meals for the next 30 days like this. 2. Teach your dog how to follow you on a slack leash. This is easier said then done but I’ll get you some help here. 3. When the dog has learned these 2 things, then its time to show your puppy that when they are there, you can send “scary” stuff away and that they should remain calm. This will build trust and help ease your dogs mind. If you need help with any of these, shot me a quick text and I’ll recommend some videos that will help you get this going. Good luck. Thank you really helpful video my dog was just attaked by a off lease spanual (sorry for spelling) and was then biiten and thrown aroung as he's only a small jack Russel so I just kicked the other as hard as possible and have worryed that I'm I the wrong but this makes me realise that WE were being attacked

This is scary. This morning this thing happens to us when we were walking. But thank god I always have this expandable flag pole to scary another unleash dog away. And no where to find it’s owner. Probably he let the dog walk around in front of his house area :( my pup is 6 months. And she doesn’t know better , but yes I’m training her everyday )
I was just walking my dog this morning and we saw a big pitbull. He gave my dog a deathly stare. I guess the dog got off the leash because about 3 minutes later the dog comes charging at us. Starting at my dog, again with a deathly stare. I got between them and started yelling at the dog and stomping at him. Then the owner finally comes. What a scary experience. That pitbull was huge and my chihuahua is only 6 pounds.
What leash is going to do, carry a pepper spray and spray the dogs eyes or carry a stick, but I feel pepper spray is better.
I am lucky. This happened to my GS and me the other day...a crazy poodle after the 88 lb GS. Thank dog came barreling down the road at us with it's poor very elderly owner running behind yelling to us. Lucille, my dogs name, just stopped dead in her tracks never looking back only looking forward. When monster poodle arrived, no time to notice if my heart was beating hard or not, she stood there and let him just sniff her. When he got to us no aggression just sniffing her all over and then moved on to the mailbox next to us. When the older woman reached us she told me that her poodle didn't have any teeth. I almost wonder if she understood his barking and why she just stood there the way she did. We will never know but there are lots of dogs in this neighborhood in Florida where I just bought a house. There are multiple items in the back yard that I will use as an obstacle course for her instead. At least I'm going to try as she's very smart. Safer in our yard than walking around here. And when I walk? Pepper spray for me, just in case any crazy animal comes after me.
Kh Bowman I’m so glad that things turned out the way they did and you just encountered an excited poodle and not an aggressive one. It’s a good idea to carry your pepper spray. Sadly, you just never know when you might need it.
@@AltheDogTrainer and will carry for my own walking now. Going to see if you have any training which would work in our backyard. She already has all the basics down, all the way to playing dead but with open eyes. I thought about training her to run in patterns though the tree and shrubs in the back yard. She does this when we play catch anyway. With both my GS' its called catch and run from mom! Haha!

Hi I have a dog who when on the leash does not like to be approached by dogs off leash. Today we were approached by 3 happy clappy dogs ..just really friendly dogs who do not know that my dog is not friendly when approached.
So I am calling to the owners. Please call your dog as mine is in training. Boy its tedious and I become tense trying to shout at these friendly dogs to back off.
A couple of trainers have told me to kick the approaching dogs ..I just cant do that.
It’s a tough situation to find yourself in. Avoiding these areas may be the only comfortable solution for you. Is there anything else you’d be willing to do defend yourself and your dog? What training with your dog would you do to make the leash an ally instead of a vulnerability?
Kicking a dog in this situation is not a good solution. Dogs move extremely fast. When you try to kick you are on one foot and easily thrown off balance. I have instinctively tried to kick three times, and fallen down twice. Maybe if you are an athlete in your twenties you can pull this off, but if you are older and/or less agile, you are more likely to hurt yourself that the dog.
I wish a watched this before I started to walk my dog, because when a dog came up to me when I was walking my dog and went to run, and my dog bashed its leg into a stop sign and got very hurt. this is something that everyone needs to learn how to deal with
I work with dogs. If I get rushed, my dog is behind me and I shout an forceful NO. It’s worked every time so far.
Thank you for this useful video! The _get ready to fight_ is really true. I have a 14 weeks old Beagle puppy who always wagging her tails to everyone and every dogs. She just a curious happy creature who i will protect with my own body if there's an adult dog suddenly charge towards us. Even i'm living in a high security village with a private neighborhood with many clean parks, still some people here ignorantly doesn't put leash on their dogs.
Happened to me this morning. Absolutely terrifying! super reactive, off leash dog much much larger than my 25lb terrier charged at us. Had to get in between them and yell at the owner to come over and get her dog. She said “he wouldn’t hurt anyone”... how oblivious.
My dog is young but very social. He lived with 3 other dogs for a year before we moved into our new place. He’s not reactive at all. Even when the dog charged, he sat and waited because he loves meeting other dogs. I know playful and social interaction when I see it. This dog was barking in a low range and cornering my dog. I was outraged that the owner was so dismissive. I picked up my dog and walked away, I wouldn’t bring myself to speak to her because I would have gone off. Glad I was able to stop anything from happening, but we were both pretty shaken up.

Is it ok to beat the other dog up if it attacks even if owner claims is friendly ? Then duck the other owner they should know not to have it off leash.
@@161BMW Sure it is. It is like a human attacks you. You have the right to defend you and your dog. I had to kick a dominant Chowchow male into his ribs and I would have done more, if the owner would have not been already running after his dog and grabbed him. He is lucky I am a foreigner here, otherwise I would have slapped him for me having his dog kicked and almost having a dog fight going on. Because I know that it was the owners fault, not his dogs fault.
@@Duke49th what about if your walking with your dog an an off leash dog comes over wanting to play and not being aggressive but just won't stop circling us (and the owner won't come get there dog)
Happen to me today with my German Shepherd but luckily I was in my front yard. The other dog I think wanted to get her if you know what I mean. She wanted to attack him but I was worried for her cuz he was much bigger . I just tried to hurry her inside got ahold of water hose and sprayed him. And he took off . But it still scared me cuz he just didn't want to leave her alone .
Just chill out and the dog will sense ur chillness and not do anything

I’ve been involved in dog attacks My cattle dog three incidents so far the last one was the most severe. Rounded a corner in my own neighborhood and someone had a guest over with a dog very large dog. My dog is 45 pounds this dog was 90+ pounds rounded the corner the fight ensued. The lady on the other end of the giant dog was in her 70’s and didn’t have the strength to hold it back. I started backpedaling like an MF to get away. When that dog went for my dogs neck. Because that’s what they do they go for the throat!! in one snap my girl could have been killed right before my eyes 😮 I threw myself into the actual dog fight !!! And made a clamshell move over my dog to shield her right next to a building, i was trapped there until this old lady could pull her effing dog away. The longest three minutes of my life horrified I had to protect her and screamed and yelled at the lady to get back!! Get back!!!! Threw myself into the cement both my knees bleeding, hurt, screaming at the top of my lungs to get that dog back lady !! my beautiful dog was not even punctured or hurt. I’m still recovering. thank God, could’ve been way worse way way, but I’ll be fine like the man says you’ll do what you have to do to save your dog. It was unplanned now I walk with my cross bag with a bat , mace. I’m ready. Not that I wanna be . I will still enjoy my walks and enjoy my beautiful dog as far as Offleash never go off leash. Unless your dog is trained to stop on a dime. The end and not effecting any human child, other animals or anything!!! that way your dog can enjoy itself, and you don’t have to worry about it peace and love to all beautiful dog owners. Don’t be scared be aware. ❤☮️🐶
I sprayed a pitbull mix in the eyes with mace to get him off my dog, it hardly phased him but I was able to get him off, I also got bit. $1500 in vet bills
I have a 3 kilo maltese and a big dog ran for us growling and had his hackles up. I am recovering from breast cancer surgery, my left arm was useless and I was holding the leash of my little dog with my right. I was lucky and a man came over and chased the dog away saying it had been around and causing problems for a couple of days. I walked my dog in a different more quiet area for a while after that but it scared us both. Now my dog while not aggressive reactive doesn’t want to meet other dogs, even little puppies, she wants me to pick her up. I don’t. Should I?
Just subscribed. Wish I subscribed a year ago then I would have know what to do when this German shepherd charged my dog who’s a little Boston terrier/Shih Tzu mix. It might have saved her being ripped up. Thanks for the sound advice 👍🏻
I have a very small dog. She’s a Yorkshire terrier and only weighs about 5 lbs. I have stopped walking her because of the pit bulldogs in our neighborhood that keep breaking off their chain. The last time I walked her I had to scoop her up and put her inside my shirt and yell for the dog to get back and go away but I was really scared... terrified really! The only thing that gave me the courage to keep that dog at bay was because I knew I had to protect the little furbaby in my shirt. Because I think one bite and shake from an aggressive dog could possibly kill her. Am I correct?
Anyway, The dog barked and growled a few more times but stopped coming towards us and I just walked kind of sideways until I got back to my house that luckily I was only 2 houses away. That was 5 months ago. I don’t think it’s fair that my dog and I can’t enjoy a walk because of all these crazy ass dogs around here and my Yorkie is super hyper energetic and really wants to go outside but I’m scared to death she’s gonna be attacked ... even in our fenced in backyard I won’t let her stay out there long unless I’m out there watching because I’ve seen dogs try to get in our fence. They have bent the metal with their teeth!😡

Happened to me yesterday. Same dog came up to my dog and started barking 3 times. Owner did not even leashed his dog after the dog did it the first time. I screamed and told owner to get his dog and then I told the dog to go away the 3rd time. Interesting that when my dog barks cause she is sometimes reactive, I get reaction like “oh my goodness”. But I have full control of my dog. I always have my dog on a leash. I am away from them. And yet they are okay with dog that not leashes who goes out to other dogs, invades their space and starts growling at dogs. I hate irresponsible dog owners
i was walking my 6month old pup in my lane when a dog started following us. He was trying to stop me but my pup barked at him . The dog howled,kicked the wall and walked away. I'm afraid that it wouldn't the same all the time. My pup may get injured someday.What can i do?
My dog is a mittelschnauzer, 5 years old, good with other dogs, overall kind but a bit skittish if the vibes are off. We have this guy with an akita in our neighborhood, who doesn't care for other's safety at all, he tends to let her go off the leash and she doesn't wear muzzle at all, which is prohibited by law here in Ukraine (Akita is listed as a dangerous breed). She attacked us 3 times already and gratefully we got out each time unharmed. I'm rather petite so I can't really scare or harm attacking dog to protect mine, what other options do I have? This Akita and her owner are the only problematic duo we meet, and that akita is just so sneaky - she practically jumped us every time so it's not like I can just shout her off...she was so fast. I've heard that stun guns are an option but idk.. After this 3d time I'll file police report but I doubt it will change anything about this situation...
I haven’t had a dog attack me directly but I’ve had quite a few dogs come up aggressively to my dogs when I’m walking them luckily my dogs have never been hurt tho
Lucky if you have an unreactive dog…. I wish mine was more aggressive.. he’s a whippet and all dogs go him…. He just stands there or goes between my legs.. I’ve had to literally punch a huge dog 4 times in the face that was coming at us.. so far I’ve had to fight off 5 dogs that have tried to kill him.. it’s always the people with big aggressive dogs who don’t put them on a lead .. just yesterday a shitzu attacked him and he just cowers… luckily the dog didn’t bite him but man… it’s this little tiny thing, he didn’t even growl. I think if he stood up for himself a little bit more the other dogs wouldn’t see him as weak.
ZAP STUN CANES and other stun devices will stun over and over again...dogs learn fast when they are stunned...stun them again before they get up..hold it on them 20 seconds they will learn to hate that sound..
ZAP STUN CANES can zap again and again over and over most dogs don't require that much teaching and later the sound of one will stop them at a distance...20 to 100 bucks...zap them and hold it on them fro 20 seconds at least again on their head , neck or groin area..
What is happening with us, in a high dog populated community, retractable leash owners are freeing up their dogs leash long enough to approach us without our readiness. ...almost like being unleashed...My dog has become defensive. We use a 4 foot stable leash so I believe she is feeling somewhat threatened now so has now become reactive.. The retractable leash owners , in any of these cases,, don't seem to get that they need to pull their dog back once there are signs of reactivity either. The dogs are allowed to stay on the longer free leash while I am trying to bring mine back into control and focus...3 strikes we're out. It has happened 3 times now and my girl has always been super friendly. I am feeling like we have to be anti social now for my girls protection🤷🏻♀️
We experienced this today my dog was bitten twice the owner didn't even try to get their dog quick enough my dog was on leash and growled at the other dog that was chasing him and bitting him the whole time while chasing him he did run straight home into our garage the owners said its just playing with out dog it was biting him so much he ran into our garage my neighbor grabbed him to keep him from getting hurt worse the owner traumatized not only me but my mom to today
I live in Albania and for 5 years see packs of 5 to 10 roaming the streets, especially at night. People here carry various things like an axe handle, or something that looks like a small axe on one end. I carry a 3 ft piece of wood with a screw through the end. I really like the suggestion of carrying an extra leash though as it doesn’t make me look so paranoid when I’m walking my sheep dog.
One other option is a belt with a good heavy buckle but when trouble starts it needs to be in your hand. My dog problems are always when I’m walking my own and others come charging at us, almost daily. Twice today….

I keep a knife with me, Ive had my old dog killed by a stray dog when I was younger, no matter what I did I was alone and couldn’t pull, punch or kick the dog off. I have scars on my arm from the stray dog. I love dogs but I will never lose another one if there’s something I can do about it. I watch for bad turns in body language, and if I so much as see the approaching dogs fur go up, I pull my knife out.
This happened to me yesterday a big Doberman attacked my dog to the point I fell and couldn’t stop it the owners just sat there and watch I’m 140 pounds on a good day I had to hit the dog bcuz it wouldn’t get off my dog or me I feel absolutely horrible for it

Really? I have a mini poodle and a Pit bull came off loose from this person. It ran at more than 100 miles per hour from the other side. I hade to grab my little poodle in the air and started kicking the pitbull. Yes I got bit really bad and ended up in the hospital. Luckly the owners roommate came to grab the pit bull because nothing was stopping him
This just happened to me 10 minutes ago my dogs leash slipped off his neck in the scuffle so I hit the other dog with the leash once and he backed off and the owner called him home and apologized I tried standing in between them but it didn't work much

I'm too scared to walk my dog alone due to constantly being rushed by off leash dogs. It's ruining my life. I hate the idiots who let their dogs do this and think nothing is wrong with it.

i walk on the beach a lot by myself and there are always unleashed dogs. sometimes i have been charged by a barking dog. twice i have been nipped at and this morning the dog stopped right before me. i am tired of my walk being ruined by these dogs. what is the best thing to do?
Guys plz definitely if u have smalls dogs plzzzz carry something for protection bear spray, or a taser or something that will definitely work against another dog I always carry a knife but I'm never to worried bcz I have a huge dog that can hold her own if anything happens and ik she can bcz when we first got her we introduced her to my pitbull and sometimes they would get crazy and he would try to attack her and she would just throw him on the floor and hold him

This is the best tip that I ever heard. Yes of course who ever wonder what does the is dog thinking when it approaches aggressively. And who ever want their dog to be in danger? Of course you should protect them actually.
If pepper spray is illegal in your country, small cans of spray eg perfume or deodorant works
When i was on a walk with my dog which passed away.. there were a pack of 20 dogs im not kidding, i counted. He went to them and tried to meet but i heard some growling as well and i jumped down the hill to take him. The scare was so big i couldn't stop crying after it happened.

Tonight I was hiking out of the woods in the dark when I ran into a woman with 2 large rotties. She asked if I'd seen anyone else on the trail and said she liked to come at night to let her dogs off leash because they're not the best around people and other dogs. As she told me this, her dogs became reactive, viciously barking and pulled the woman down on her face, dragging her 15 ft across the trail to get at us. She was trying to hold on to the lead (it connected her dogs together) while being dragged on her stomach, and she lost her grip. Her dogs charged us while mine stood still to let them sniff. I hoped nothing would happen, but her dogs both snapped and starting biting my dog from both ends. I tried to grab one of her dogs, almost got bit myself, while my dog was being bit and jumped on. I dropped my dog's lead so she could run away from them while trying to control her dogs. The lead she had on them tangled around my ankles, almost knocking me over, as they both broke free again trying to chase my dog down the trail. I ran after her dogs and grabbed their lead as she got to her feet. This woman screamed at me not to try and stop her dogs, that "it's fine", when it clearly wasn't. She had ZERO control of these dogs on leash and off. If I hadn't grabbed their leash they would have attacked again. My dog was upset with all the commotion and ran back to me, and one of her dogs jumped and started biting her again. She ran off again, and I told her to stay when she was far enough away.
I was very upset at this situation. This isn't the first time I've had an experience like this. I have worked on training my dog for years and it wasn't easy. She's also trained off leash to come/stay in case she ever broke free, because it's important to minimize dangerous situations. She has perfect recall. I was visibly shaken as well as concerned for my dog. It was dark and I couldn't see if she had any injuries. The woman grabbed her dogs and acted like nothing happened! She didn't ask if we were okay, didn't offer her info in case there was injuries, and didn't apologize! I told her she should never let her dogs off leash and she said they weren't. But she was intending on letting them off leash after passing us by, and told me she does it all the time if no one is around. If she can't control them on leash and knows they don't like other dogs, why be irresponsible and allow your dogs off leash? She said they were fine and I was overreacting. I flipped my lid, told her she needs to learn how to control her dogs and if she can't then she shouldn't be out where they can injure others. She tried to claim her dogs didn't attack us. I guess because I had no puncture wounds, it's supposed to be okay to have two 125 lb dogs charge me and my 50 lb dog. The callousness of this woman was unreal. I was so angry walking away. I told her she's delusional if she thought this wasn't a big deal, and is irresponsible because not only could they hurt a person or dog, but she was putting them at risk of being put down if they attacked and seriously hurt someone. I had to call the police because she didn't like me telling her that, and proceeded to follow me and my dog a quarter mile back to the parking lot in the dark with her crazy dogs pulling and barking behind me. The police showed up and filed a report. Although her losing control wasn't intentional, they agreed she was completely wrong how she handled it. It's unfortunate, because she refused to listen to me or the cops. I told her if I saw her again and her dogs attacked, I'd be pressing charges. Another hiker was carrying out his 10-pound dog while we were filing the report. If those dogs got a hold of that dog, it would have been dead. I realize accidents happen, but she acted like this wasn't a big deal and I should've just walk away. Why should anyone have their night ruined by someone who can't control their dogs? I don't know what else I could have done different in this situation. It seems like I run into people with untrained dogs on and off leash all the time, and I'm always the one getting control of their dog for them, while risking getting bit. Any advice would be appreciated.
I’m so very sorry that this happened to you and I don’t know if it could be handled any better than you did. Personally, I’d probably avoid going there but you do have the right to go back. If I was you and decided to go back, i would be ready for a serious confrontation. Also, get your dog a wide 2” to 3” collar to protect their neck. That could save your dogs life. I’d also have bear spray almond other things to but an end to the craziness.
Filing a report with the township responsible for overseeing the park could be an option. Why not report it to a local news source to create awareness. The irresponsible dog owner should be sued that is really the only way they are made to understand.
You sound like a very responsible dog owner. I’m sorry this happened to you. I’m sure it was truly terrifying, as what happened to me and my little dog, Greta. I’ve never heard a dog scream so loud, she’s only 22lb and this GSD was huge. I hate owners that think their dog is fine or pretend like nothing happened. Carry a big stick and spare lead like they said in video. Also something to protect dog neck. Owners like this have zero comeback if you injure their dog in self defence when they are in the wrong.
i just moved to a neighborhood where there are tons of loose dogs. people can't or won't keep them contained so when I go on walks, I'm always watching. luckily my dog is massive and super friendly, the other dogs usually dont want a fight, and I know not to be scared or flee. Usually we ignore them until they cross an invisible line. once they are too close and getting too aggressive, me and my dog will walk toward them together to intimidate them into backing off. it's worked so far . I always make sure to put myself in front tbh bc at least im taller , and i feel like dogs respect a scary , confident human more than a spoiled indoor dog.

I was reading how to protect your dogs on leash when a coyote approaches. It said to make yourself large while holding your dog's close to you. At the park several dogs belonging to an owner were off leash and charged my dogs. I used the same tactic with the those dogs and they backed off. Body language is the answer. Animals understand body language in the form of aggressive posturing. Make yourself a large and menacing while standing your ground and not running.

@@AltheDogTrainer yep. On a walk with my papillon puppy last week. My sister and her basenjis leading the way. Now my Dash (puppy) and I have had two run ins with small dogs coming at us. So I bought us a harness that I can literally pull him up off ground into arms very quickly. As the five of us are walking Jennifer (sister) spots unleashed beast ahead. I reel in Dash and put him in arms. The Beast charges. It’s a pit bull. Jennifer squares off with her senjis in front and yells and makes her 110# body look big. The pit stops and then charges again. Jennifer does it again. The stupid, no good, bleeping owners show up and corral their Beast.
I hazard to say this, but if I’d been alone, Dasher and I would’ve been seriously in peril. That pit would have knocked me down - I have osteoporosis in both hips and spine. So I went home and ordered the gel. I’d rather injure a Beast than see my Dash dead and me with a broken hip or worse.
It's happened to me multiple times. I have a 23 lb dog who's always on a harness leash so I just snatch up him like a football and start flipping out while being extremely loud lol. The stray dog, luckily, has always taken off. Worst case scenario, I always walk with a pocket knife at the very least.

I have 2 small shitzu dogs and I like to walk with them a lot. I have 1 with me at a time, and twice, I've passed my neighbors house and they always keep their giant black great Dane off leash. Both times, it ran to me and my dog, it was barking constantly and trying to get to my dog. I didnt know the other dogs intentions but I was scared. The first time, the owner was there and it backed off and I ran away. The second time, the dog didnt listen to the owner and my own dog slipped out of her collar and ran back to the house. I'm at my limit, I saw the dog without a leash again, thank god I wasnt walking my dog this time. What should I do??
I’m sorry that you are going through this and I know it is not easy. The easiest answer is to avoid walking by this home. That may be easier said than done. If that’s not possible, then preparing yourself for the ensuing confrontation will be necessary. Protect yourself and your dog at all costs. Perhaps carrying an extra leash could help you deal with the much larger dog.
My 5 month dog is just approached by 1 or 2 year German shepherd . She was barking at my dog. And my dog is realy fear od other dog.my dog just trying to chase her when she go away. There is no easy answer for these kinds of situations. For me, I walk my dog in places where this is highly unlikely to happen. Good luck!
You don't always get lucky and scare a dog off. I will do what I can to avoid the situation. If the dog attacks my dog, I positively will stab it and worry about the legal situation afterwards.

My wife was walking our little dog down the street and an elderly couple happened to be opening their door and their dog got out. The dog ran up to our dog and they got into a scrap. The other dog bit down on our dog and at first the bite seemed small but after a couple days it got more swollen and we had to take him to an emergency vet. Hoping he’s gonna be ok but the bite got infected and it’s gonna cost around 1000 dollars.
I hope you sued them for the medical expense. There should be some laws to back you up. Keep receipts and research.
And how would you do it the other way around? My dog off leash goes running to other dogs to play, and everything is fine, but there is one person in the neighborhood that is scared of any other dog so when my dog appears he screams like he saw a ghost, and then my dog starts barking at him. He tried to hit my dog and I’m scared then that the dog might defend himself
Sorry, although I definitely understand what you are saying, 99 percent of America has leash laws when in public or off your property, so as a judge told me with a big fine, I don't care how friendly your dog is, you broke the law

Today my small dog and I were walking in the neighborhood, when a large pit bull came running out of nowhere across the street towards us barking an in an aggressive matter. All I could think of to do was pick my dog up over my head and start yelling 'GIT, GIT, GIT!!!' to the dog. luckily he didn't attack me or try to get to my pup. This is the second time my sweet dog has had this happen to her, the first time two aggressive dogs came into my yard when I was out there with her, (that was before we moved and now have a fenced in yard). I did the same thing, picked her up over my head, but I was not fast enough and one dog got his teeth into her. Buying some pepper spray, so sick of irresponsible pet owners that can't keep their aggressive dogs fenced up and supervised!!!

One of my dogs was really lethargic this morning so I took my dogs on a really short looped trail and about halfway round I see two off leash dogs so I step off the path and low and behold they find us their owner was further down the trail and has 0 control they were very friendly and immediately started crowding and sniffing dogs in a rude and excitable manner I felt they was nothing I could do so i just held my dogs tight to sto them from biting the dogs and called out "get your dogs on a lead" the owner finally came, put his dogs on lead and said his dogs were friendly and what happened I replied yours might be friendly but mine aren't and walked off. I feel like such a bad dog owner for not protecting my dogs and a when we got back home I had a panic attack. From now on I will walk my dogs one at a time and step in front, stping my feet and shouting when an off leash dog runs up to us

My Boxer/mix has gotten charged by 3 other(off the leash) dogs in the neighborhood. She has never went after another dog, but she will stand her ground if a dog charges at her. She's such a great girl and I don't want her to become aggressive. I've decided to carry pepper spray and hope i can remember to move in front of her. She is very protective of us. @AJTheDogTrainer can you tell me why other Dogs seem to be challenging my Dog?
I was bring my dog outside to pee. And my neighbor doesn’t let their dog inside their house, that’s fine bc they have a dog house outside. And then their dog ran from their yard to my dog, he was still trying to find a spot to pee. My dog is a very nice dog he never attacks other dogs. But that neighbors dog started to attack my dog. My dog started to fight back. Since this never happened, my first thing to do was bring my dog back inside. So I had to drag my dog away. And the neighbors dog still was trying to attack my dog and I had to get inside quickly and shut the door so hard. My dog is okay, but the neighbors dog was trying to get inside my home to get my dog. They are both males, my dog was on a leash. And their dog wasn’t on a leash at all and they were gone.
