Hey friends, thank you so much for watching! Hopefully you've already downloaded the free guide in the description to solidify your theory knowledge...right?? :D In any case, here's my brand new analysis on the first DLC Booster Pass!! ruclips.net/video/ptVqbGk2OP8/видео.html
I wish the sound effects were quieter or the music was louder. You can’t hear the cool stuff happening outside of the main melody a lot of the time because they’re quiet outside of the in game audio.
love how you had to use an emulator to get footage for the super circuit main theme lmao also i absolutely loved this, when i searched up "mk8 main theme analysis" i didn't expect to find this great of a video thank you :)
This is SO good! I can tell you out so much effort into making this and I enjoyed every second of it! It’s crazy how music can even sound this good. My mind is blown
Mario Kart 8 is the first game to _not_ use midi instruments. Many of the people Nintendo hired for the music have been long time fans of the Mario Kart series and probably know the music better than Nintendo themselves. So when Nintendo asks them to recreate a song for a retro track, they dont just remake it, they go ABOVE AND BEYOND 😂 and that's why this will forever be the best game.
This analysis is great!! By the way, a while ago I found that the GBA Mario Circuit theme had a beta version with a beginning similar to that of the remake. If you search for it, you can find the original one. My theory is that, when remaking the theme, they either unknowlingly or not, used the beta theme as a reference instead of the actual one.
There's also a "frontrunning" sound when you're in first place that adds a prominent snare and hi-hat beat that, in my opinion, really emphasizes and elevates the mood in a lot of the songs in this game! Probably one of my top 5 game soundtracks of all time.
One part of Mount Wario's music that I absolutely love is how the lap 2 jingle masks the transition between different parts of the music (and the lap 3 jingle completely replaces it), it feels like the absolute pinnacle of making the music fit the gameplay. (Also at 20:08 that boomerang went RIDICULOUSLY far, this is why it's good to perfect your aim with it)
Hi Chris, I have never analyzed the music of Mario 8 while playing, but now i can't play anymore without listening more to it :) Thank you for this excellent analysis of everything. Am I right, that this is the first Mario Cart with "real" music instead of chiptune? Did you already win a 200ccm cup?
From computerized chip tune to live performance, the revamped and remixed music from the classic courses of earlier games comes to vibrant life in Mario Kart 8.
I’ve only just found your videos, but I really enjoy the analysis you give! The music teams at Nintendo always surpass my expectations, and the Mario Kart soundtracks are incredible! Thank you for videos (it was really cute how you matched the drivers and vehicles to the racetracks you were referencing in the footage)! And I can’t thank you enough for your music theory guidebook, as someone who is trying to create my own music after being inspired by the songs I heard from the Nintendo music teams, I hope I can understand music more!
0:59 The little cymbal bit timed with a little glare on the "8" on the MK8(&dx) logo along with the appearance of "Press L R to Start" seems like a bit of extra effort they put in to make the game a bit more exciting. 7.Jun.2023
Cheeseland is my favorite stage in the game and that's mostly because of the theme song. I really love the base and the part where the trumpets seem to rise, for the lack of a better word. It makes you feel powerful.
The Mario Kart Super Circuit remix is actually derived from an unfinished build of the game, which featured different mixing to the final, pretty interesting!
I dont know if you said this in the video because i skipped to the part where you talked about mount wario, but the music gets more drums and percussion and other fun stuff when you reach first place meaning the song can sound different if you are in 1st place or last place. In my opinion, it’s most noticable on mount wario and warios gold mine.
some things i'd like to point out 1: there is no SMK motif in MKSC 2: the full saxophone part sadly does not play in Dolphin Shoals 3: that is a fiddle in the woods section, not a violin
Using a piece of video game music for an alarm? What kind of tragic nerd would do such a thing... (Studiopolis Act 1 from Sonic Mania is thoroughly burned into my mind from my last year of university)

I can’t believe he didn’t talk about Big Blue!!! that soundtrack is a masterpiece
I mean, to be fair, it doesn’t originate from Mario Kart. It’s an F-Zero tune.
@@PianistTanooki He did include Animal Crossing though...
yeah what the hell?! it's the best track of them all and the Mario Kart version easily deserves its own review
To be fair everyone already knows how good it is, even since the wiiu days
I wish the sound effects were quieter or the music was louder. You can’t hear the cool stuff happening outside of the main melody a lot of the time because they’re quiet outside of the in game audio.
I don't know, the music in this game is quite loud in comparison to the gameplay, when comparing it to other Mario kart games if I'm not mistaken
Yeah, I wish I could turn off the engines' sounds
I think it’s just the extra beat in 1st that makes it seem like that.
They should add audio options.

Haha thanks!

Thank you so much Noah!
I’m two minutes in. When does the effort start to show up?
Mario Galaxy vid looks better so far.
There is a guy drinking out of a cup in the background at 28:21, I don't know why this caught my eye over the bass player. Cool video as well
This is such a good analysis. More people should watch this underrated video.
Haha thanks so much!

Nice exploration and analysis! I’ve spent many, many, hours in this game. Also, great job assembling the video and narration!
Thank you Chip! Much appreciated :D I've already started working on the next one!

Haha great to know!
Did you know when you got into the ELETRIC cloud in Cloudtop Cruise a ELETRIC guitar comes in?
There's also a "frontrunning" sound when you're in first place that adds a prominent snare and hi-hat beat that, in my opinion, really emphasizes and elevates the mood in a lot of the songs in this game! Probably one of my top 5 game soundtracks of all time.
Thank you for highlighting Super Bell Subway! That's been one of my favorite tracks since the DLC released but I never noticed the bass shift before!
One part of Mount Wario's music that I absolutely love is how the lap 2 jingle masks the transition between different parts of the music (and the lap 3 jingle completely replaces it), it feels like the absolute pinnacle of making the music fit the gameplay.

Yes, I believe so! What a difference, right? I don't have the game actually, I just really like the music :D
From computerized chip tune to live performance, the revamped and remixed music from the classic courses of earlier games comes to vibrant life in Mario Kart 8.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it! So glad you're enjoying the guide as well. More to come!
Please do more tutorials on how to write big band music, you're not the only one who loves that style ;)
I’ve got some stuff planned :)

21:07 i love how the boomerang came back with the music
28:24 love the guy in the reflection just drinking his coffee lol

You're a master of music! Love your job! 😍👏🏼
Haha it was so much fun making this! Thank you so much :D

LiionSL Wow. That’s beautiful!
This is awesome! How does one get to work on a soundtrack for one of these games? I like the funk jazz vibes.
Haha I wish I knew man!
Christopher Siu when you find out and need a keys player, let me know. Lol
@@dafingaz or you can look as well. They might only recruit if they like what they hear from you in other recordings.
@@harlowatkins6628 yep! Thanks Harlo!
The phrase "Quack all over the place" about Shy Guys was great! I'll always refer to shy guy sounds as quacks from now on!
the end of the credits always drives me wild. the sheer ENERGY!!!!
Great songs to showcase, i love your insight
The Mario Kart Super Circuit remix is actually derived from an unfinished build of the game, which featured different mixing to the final, pretty interesting!
Best part of Mario Kart Stadium is how the woodwind trill happens RIGHT as you hit the glide ramp
Could you do a follow up video once all the new DLC tracks are released?
Good idea :D
The music for Mario kart 8 is straight jazz!
Nice vid! tho it should have covered Dragon Driftway, Wild Woods, and Bone Dry Dunes. your choices were still great!
Yes, all awesome pieces. Perhaps for later!
They took all the classics Mario Kart and made a wonderful intro in Mario Kart 8 deluxe.❤
Absolutely!
Happy to stumble upon this, great narration
Thank you kindly!
0:55 “Electric guitar plays ridiculous riff that I love” *shows bass*
XD
Great video! I love this game so much
Thank you!
wanna let you know that this makes my heart happy. new sub 🙏🏽
Thanks Antonyo!
Could you analyze Game of Thrones music next? It has some serious masterpieces there. Love the Stark's theme.
I'll note it down, thanks!
@@ChristopherSiu I have to thank you :)
Such an amazing video!!! You deserve so much more subscribers! Great work!
Thanks so much!! More to come ☺️
I was really hoping for big blue or mute city, they weren’t there but at least dolphin shoals was there
I am so glad someone else loves the Mario Kart Stadium as much as I do. It's such an underrated track.

Ah yes I didn't mention that, but that's definitely a great touch!
great video! i love this soundtrack and your analysis was super interesting to listen to, keep up the great work!
Mount Wario is still my favorite vgm theme of all time, and, frankly, it isn't even close.
Fun Fact: at 1:55, even Mario Kart Tour's "theme" has the Super Mario kart melody ruclips.net/video/SvK8HTlgWHA/видео.html at 0:46
The music in this game is so diverse and will present a lot of nostalgic
AMAZING
some things i'd like to point out
1: there is no SMK motif in MKSC
2: the full saxophone part sadly does not play in Dolphin Shoals
3: that is a fiddle in the woods section, not a violin
Thanks for sharing! Just to clarify, a fiddle and violin are the same instrument, the name simply differs depending on the style being performed :)
Has he even implied 2?
28:22....that casual sip of coffee :')
XD
I love Cloudtop Cruise and Dolphin Shoals. They're my favorite tracks from this game.
This video deserves WAY more views!
Haha thank you!!
Would have liked to see some sheet music or at least written out chord progressions for the analysis
Very educational. Very fascinating.
Absolutely fantastic.
Amazing video! :)
Thank you! 😀
Love this! 👍🏼
Thank you!
Where did you find all this live studio footage?
Nintendo RUclips channel or some versions of MK8 that came with a disc showing live studio footage.
This is incredible please make more
13:01 the only reason im watching this video

The Mario Kart lick
Excellent video!
Fantastic video
Thanks! 😃
so cool!
Thanks!
You are the best !✌
Aw thank you!
Dolphin Shoals is gold
I love how the music from thwomp ruins references Apache
The Devil Went Down to Mt. Wario... and finished 12th.
Me who knows nothing about music theory
I like your funny words magic man
Épico
Is it me or does this game have a lot of guitars in it? I love it
Yep!
@@ChristopherSiu I love the addition of guitar and a more fun beat to the music in the entire game
For me, cheese land has the best music....
Using a piece of video game music for an alarm? What kind of tragic nerd would do such a thing...

ME
Me and my brothers played mario kart 8 so much that we broke the damn game. I'd probably still be playing it if it didn't unfortunately break
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the best music of any Mario Kart game
Agreed
could you talk more about the theory? rather than briefly going into it
There might be something coming up (hypothetically) in the near future with a special friend…
I seem to be the only person who doesnt like the Dolphin Shoals Solo.
