The album artwork looks like they're trolling.
There are existing copies of an album called Magnum Opus Of The Inglorious Kind vinyl sleeves floating about, possibly leaked by the band themselves.
So here's what I think: Father Of All Motherfuckers will be released on February 7th and the next album Magnum Opus Of The Inglorious Kind will also be released in February 2020 released on Jingle Town Records.

It's a troll album though. They're releasing it to get out of their contract with Warner. Their "real" album is coming out afterwards. That's why Billie Joe touches upon it in this interview. He knows this upcoming album is going to be abysmal and that's the very point of it.

*FOAM* is an album Green Day have made to simply finish up their contract with Warner. They were contractually obliged to release one more album, so they rushed together this.
They're already working on an entirely different album, which is why Billie Joe mentioned it in passing stating
"We'll probably have another album out next year." FOAM is a joke and it's at the expense of Warner.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Green Day is my all time favorite band. I've been listening since the Dookie days. When I heard the new single, at first I thought ah man, is this gonna sound unrecognizable compared to all their other records? Then I quickly realized, even if it does, I know I'll still love it. It is a good song. I was just a little surprised, because it sounds different from most of their stuff. However, it's not the first time, they've put out a song that's a little different. Songs like Bang Bang, Kill The DJ, Peacemaker, and Misery, just to name a few, were all different from what we're used to, and they're all great. They could put out a record of nothing but grunts and yells, and I'd still buy it. Plus it's good to branch out, and add more variety and really re-invent themselves. I know that the new record will be great. Even if it sounds totally different. I know it will still have some of that vintage Green Day sound, we all love. Probably with some new flavor to mix with it. Every time they release a new record, I'm nervous, antsy, intrigued, excited, happy, and well if you're a fan like me, you know exactly what I mean. For me February 7th can't come soon enough.
Angels and airwaves have been pumping out some good stuff. It may not be rock resurgence, but its some of their best work

I am so happy that Green Day is back from the age of 5 till now they are my fave band and I am 23 so to have weezer and fall out boy on tour with them is a dream I love I am loving this new song I am loving how it’s different it’s something that makes u want to mosh around this new album is going to kick ass thank u Kevin and bean for this great interview

Not sure they were throwing shade at Blink with that comment but if they were I don't understand why. Their pop disaster tour was so good. That is two band that need to go on concert together again.
As for the way Blink sounds I just listed to their new song and they sound just like the old Blink which is awesome. They also sound very simular to FOB so if they were to throw shade at Blink sounding the way they do then they don't really know what FOB sounds like.

According to wikipedia, the Whisky has a capacity of 500. I'm guessing just family, friends and local peers of the 3 bands are close to 500 people. Can you imagine how legendary this show had to have been? A stadium Hella Mega line up in a dive bar?

am i the only one who feels like they're saying one thing and doing another. don't get me wrong i enjoy the new song and am cautiously optimistic for the new album, but calling it a kick in the ass for rock and roll seems pretty out of the question especially when listening to they're old music.
I agree, but see it just as advertisment. They know very well it's not their "hardest hitting" song, but when the time comes and they have to promote the new material it's not a surprise that the go to line is: "rock is becoming weak, so we are bringing back the attitude". In the music industry today that approach seems to be rock only selling point
Billie Joe talks around stuff. What they are doing is changing over the years to stay relevant. They pick up new fans and drop fans but keep on a trucking. The new song doesnt do it for me at all. Green Day used to speak to me but when he said people are trying to write the feel good songs, its like wtf billie, thats you to a T nowdays. I like the guy but god he is a hypocrite a lot of times.

On the other hand there are bands who in my opinion deserve to have more light shown on them and it would be nice to hear some new fresh bands on mainstream radio.

So what I want to know, is why they used the American idiot album cover. But they said it wasn't going to be political and if they wanted a teen rebel type of album then why not use the revolution radio album cover. or just make a more original album cover
Because it’s like Disney and Star Wars they want to appeal to the new kids these days but know it will lose the old fans and the new stuff at least imo isn’t as good. If you want new Rock And Roll Look at my Band Good Whales, and look at another local band in my area Plastic Otters. My Band Good Whales bring back the vibe man. We bring back that Psychedelic noise.

Even if they play the entire new album in concert (highly unlikely), and it isn't great, it is only 26 minutes long, so plenty of time for them to play their classics.
