Love your demo videos. I like that you keep it simple and use basic tools and compromise wherever you can get away with it, ie cutting your sleepers between two bags. What also impressed me is that you did a lot of the work yourself without help and wasn't phased when it came to using heavy equipment like a concrete breaker, which I would have thought twice about! I love DIY but since my partner passed away 7 years ago, I have felt less confident. I put this down to my age (70 now) and my arthritis. Your video has given me the confidence to try again. There is so much I need to do in the garden and with paid help being unaffordable and no family around to help, I have no option but to DIM. Your video has inspired me to try again. All I need is enough dry weather to get through the task so I don't lose momentum which, when lost, is difficult to work up again! I live on the east coast of Ireland. As we share a similar weather pattern Im sure you'll understand what I'm saying! Thank you for all the work you put into sharing your skills with us.❤
Two months ago I was quoted £1200 - £1500 to replace the old sagging bitumen sheets with box-profile metal sheets on my 7x2.5 meter garage. Last week I did it all by myself over two days for under £250 including cutting tools, inspired by your "let's have a go" attitude on a cold, grey, damp morning. I'd much preferred to have payed around £600 helping an honest roofer make a living out of doing what they're good at, but sadly these individuals are a little hard to come by nowadays.
Thanks for the informative videos. Making raised beds. My tip for increasing the life of the sleepers is 1) Lay a course of bricks underneath the sleeper so that the sleeper is not directly on the soil. This is to allow water to drain away and the sleeper is not sat on water over it's lifetime. 2) Using a conrete posts for the corners, using COACH BOLTS pre drill the correct size of holes for the bolts 1 on each side of post at different heights then dig out the holes I use a few 1/4 bricks for the holes for added stability & sink the post in the holes at the corner aligning with the post and secure with the coach bolts and then add the postfix and water at 1 bag per hole. 3) Once secure and set add a membrane inside the sleeper (to again add extra life to the sleeper) and fill with soil/ compost tucking in the membrane against the sleeper so it is hidden from view. Hope these tips are useful in giving longer life to raised beds. Garden Solutions / Robert from Manchester
When you want to say YOU ARE more quickly it contracts (becomes shorter) to YOU'RE. The apostrophe shows the omission (missing out) of the A in ARE. YOUR is possessive and refers to something belonging to you. This really isn't difficult.
Hi Vikkie...really nice job and its coming along really good. You are so hard working, I am proud of you but, you deserve a rest lass :) Have a Merry Xmas and All the Best for 2018
Path Edgings... thought you were saying pathogens. Was like wtf is she talking about lol. Good on you for getting out there and getting dirty, hard work pays off.
Its always good to soak the base of those concrete gutter curbs in water if you are going to cement them in.the bond is better and they actually stick to the mortar.
Been watching some more of your videos today Vicki, curiously wondering why you seem so familiar, then I found out roughly where you're from (where your Dad's place is) & it turns out that's why you're so familiar..... It's not far from me & your accent is same as mine Lol 😋
Thanks +NASH, my back was fine. If it starts to ache at any point, I stop and stretch my back the opposite way. It's a Robin McKenzie exercise I picked up from a running injury.

Eric Corse not sure. She said they were new. I think the equivalent here in the states would be like a 4x8 pressure treated landscape timber. I’ve seen them used in the UK and Australia
Yes they are new +StreetMachine18. We can buy old ones for an aged look but I prefer new ones in case I got bad ones. They're usually for railway tracks.
Thanks for another video. Merry Christmas. When I first heard you say "put the path edgings in the ground" my feeble brain heard "put the pathogens in the ground."

You're such an inspiration to amateurs in showing how it's done with enough self determination.
Thanks :) Hopefully we'll all be saving money between us :D

You're very welcome +Quinten Dewit 😀
Looks lovely, but do you plan on keeping those stumps there??
+Jack we plan to the stumps to the height or slightly lower than the soil. Any tips of something better is welcome 😊
Why don't you dig them up then?
Hello, how did you mix your mortor for the edging stones at the front of your drive? Great video :D
Its always good to soak the base of those concrete gutter curbs in water if you are going to cement them in.the bond is better and they actually stick to the mortar.

+Bazza B 😄 thanks 😀
Where do you get the "Road pins" from for securing the sleepers? I can't find them anywhere under that name.
