I'd like to point out that hellfire arrows can be dropped from breaking the pots in hell. This means they're available pre-boss. They're incredibly viable against the brains creepers, as the area damage and knock back can keep them away, while dealing a large amount of damage.
tbh the hellfire arrows is a huge carry for pre hardmode archers and for early hardmode archer (it destroys the destroyer wheb paired with dael stormbow)
Hellwing bow with wooden is better becaus it clears out hungry and deals damage to boss becaus they pierce infinitly and a lot of hellfire ones will be stoped by hungry and just to clarify wooden arrows turn to helbats with this boss
One thing to note about Aerial bane and Pulse bow is that they turn ANY arrow into their respective special arrow, so you DON'T want wooden arrows with those. Venom arrows are much better for their superior damage. As for chlorophyte, remember that you can grow it by making simple farms underground. It doesn't completely negate that issue, but atleast they are technically unlimited. As for hellfire arrows, they have the highest base damage of all arrows in pre-hm, so they are great when paired with molten fury, especially against queen bee (splash even gets rid of her minions). They are also incredibly usefull in early hm, when you don't have any hm ammo yet (pretty sure they can deal some decent damage against the destroyer, if you can't or don't want to use holy arrows)
Chlorophyte actually is unlimited thanks to dirt bombs. If you throw a dirt bomb on a one-block space in the air, the bomb will give you more dirt than consumed, making dirt renewable. And through crafting, that makes mud renewable. Since chlorophyte turns mud into more chlorophyte, that makes chlorophyte entirely renewable so long as you're willing to spend the time to use this method.
That makes 0 sense when you claim they change every arrow no matter what. But then recommend using a specific arrow type for those bows. Shouldn't it not matter? Your comment really doesn't make sense with that wording. If it keeps arrow damage, that means the bows only change the appearance, and not the arrow base type

If you want better unicorn spawns: First maybe make your hallow a bit bigger so a part of it is offscreen on both sides. Now make it more flat it doesnt need to be Super flat just a bit atleast. And now stand in the middle of your flat hallow area and place a water candle. Make sure you do it when its Day time because at night time they wont spawn very often because of other enemies like gastropods. You can probably make it (kinda) afk by making a hole and putting lava there so they Fall into it. This wont make unicorns spawn like every second but they do spawn more frequently along side with pixies
Another plus for frost burn arrows is that the arrows and the effect doesn’t get extinguished underwater, so if you ever get stuck in water and can’t see anything because it’s dark, you can light up the water by shooting the arrows, and if an enemy has frostburn applied to it, the effect still remains even in the water.
Note, combining the pure dmg of Venom arrows with bows that shoot special property arrows usually results in an overall higher dps as the special arrows gain the dmg from venom, when used with something like eventide or Ariel bane it’s devastating
Hellfire arrows combined with a daedalus stormbow, make the pirate invasion a breeze. Just box yourself in and shoot at them. Even the captain ghost won't be able to do anything since the arrow knockback just stun-locks him.
The knock back of the hellfire arrows is actually very useful, especially on master mode. Because enemies hit very hard, the knockback can really save you in some situations. I recently started a master mode playthrough and the knockback and splash damage from the arrow saved my life in the dungeon multiple times.
When i saw that the chlorophyte arrows smart bounce, it reminded me of Revolver Ocelots unlockable revolver from MGSV, it's bullet can bounce and hit nearby enemies. both very helpful for hitting enemies from around cover or through small holes.
One feature that I think would be really cool would be the ability to select what arrows you want each bow to shoot. So you can maybe have one for ichor arrows and another for curses flames
That would open up great possibilities, you can use one bow for ichor arrows and then one for cursed arrows and you're not just reducing their defense, you're also dealing higher dps

It would’ve been cool if you talked more about the bows with special arrows, my 2 favourite ones are the ice bow that’s dropped from the ice biome mimics and the bow that’s dropped by the mini boss on the goblin army event, you can obtain them early hard mode and they are really good, the one the goblin mini boss drops inflicts a debuff similar to frost burn but way stronger and the arrows pierce enemies, while the ice bow shoots ice arrows that are really fast and do good damage, after I found the mage I bought him the magic ball and made the magic quiver. Those 2 bows carried me all the way to plantera on expert.
Hellfire arrows are very good early hardmode, as youll be walking prey for the enemies in hardmode, and the knockback means youre less likely to get swarmed by them
Just started a Ranger playthrough a couple days ago. This will be a great help in knowing which arrows to go for. I decided to model my character after Pathfinder from MapleStory, and name my world Maple Island
in my experience, hellfire arrows and to some extent, meteor shot, have issues regarding immunity frames. always hated using them due to some of the ammo doing nothing when a group of enemies or the same enemy is struck multiple times in quick succession
The only reason I even use hellfire arrows is cause there insane with the Daedalus storm bow in early hard mode and I use them to kill the mechs before my hallow gets big enough for stuff like unicorns to spawn
Thanks to this guide I have single handedly destroyed the lunatic cultist with jester arrows and killed the vortex and stardust pillers with a magic quiver.
The wof can be easily defeated with hellfire arrows, because they do a lot of damage with the explosion. Without any knockback they can be used to focus on mobility more that accuracy because if you hit your arena the wof will still take damage.

I feel like everyone forgets the shotbow exists even though it is stupid OP regardless of what youre fighting. At the same time theres a weird purple bow thats still viable post golem despite being gotten at the start of the game.
I love that now the shimmer is in the game you can buy a chest full of arrows at the start of the game and upgrade all of them to your best type then when you are able to get new ones throw them in the shimmer

Daedalus plus hellfire is extraordinarily underrated. It shreds destroyer, and although holy arrows are probably better, hellfire arrows are much easier to get and are way more satisfying to use.
Two things about Hellfire arrows, 1) they’re technically obtainable pre boss and 2 they’re VERY good against WOF and Destroyer (along with BOC or EOW if you get them before)
After watching a similar video i finally upgraded my ranger set from hellfire arrows and tungsten bullets to venom arrows and high velocity bullets (This happened after i defeated plantera) Also if you want to play as a artillery cannon just craft a repeaters and few hellfire arrows and shoot up and you will eventually learn how to use it. It's not effective in combat but it's fun to use while you're doin something and there's enemies behind a wall.

If unicorns are scarce in your world, make two tall pillars of dirt in the hallow, make two lengths of platforms, (not too long, just enough so that the other side is not visible from the other end) and use a battle potion, water candle, and, if it's nighttime, use a bloody tear. I got six to ten horns each day with this. However, keep a chest nearby because your inventory will be stuffed with pixie dust.
A point for the hellfire arrow would be that u can dmg mobs throgh solid blocks. I personaly use that quiet often, because u can cheese some mobs with that (like the nymphe).
the stars from holy arrows deal half the damage of the arrow, which means holy arrows arent stronger when using a bow that shoots multiple arrows, in fact they are slightly better when using slow firing but high damage bows

The chlorophyte arrows act similarly to the crystal dart ammo. They both automatically target any nearby enemy after bouncing off a surface. Crystal darts are better, since they pierce more.
when you defeat alll celestial pillars shoot above yourself with a tsanmi bow + chlorophyte arrows to nearly oneshot the moon lord eye that does the big laser and its even better with the quiver and shroomite armor
i love upgrading to different weapons but i hate upgrading my ammo, so i always go from frostbite arrows, to jester arrows, then i flip a coin to use holy arrows or the given world evil arrows and use whatever the coin chooses for me, and depending on how i feel i may upgrade to chlorophyte ones. this means i upgrade like 3 times, maybe 4 times total. i dont ever see the need to upgrade to luminite ones since im practically done at that point, and i dont feel like grinding luminite for useless arrows
I just thought that deadolous stormbow + hell fire arrows may be good against destroyer, as the explosions can act as a small aoe and if the destroyer spawns its minions it might kill them
Talking about the thumbnail here. Hellfire Arrows can not be bad, because they make cool explosion sound on impact, and activate my few remaining happy chemicals.
Holy Arrows are actually better than before for the bosses except destroyer since the nerf removed the s and made it Single Target (So you wont miss damage) Also I just use Frostburn Arrows before BoC EoW, for BoC and EoW, I use Jester, after that I stick with Hellstone Arrows for queen bee and get Bee's Knees with Wooden Arrows for skeletron. After that I use Hellwing Bow with Wooden Arrows to defeat WoF For hardmode I use holy arrows until beating moonlord, after that I use the luminite arrows
Making the claim that luminite arrows are the best in the game is questionable. Their unique property is so niche that, oftentimes, you're better off just using chlorophyte or holy arrows. At least with them you have a higher likelihood to hit your opponents a second time.
I don’t bother use flame/frost arrows unless early game. As you said each type of arrows have the special time. I don’t use jester on a group of enemies. They quite expensive. So unholy/hell arrows are just renewable at any time from npc so they common use for me. Also holy is the best. Since you set up hallow afk farm. It good. Last thing hellstone arrows are just strong knockback so better be use with enemies with high k/r imo

If your lucky enough to find a unicorn statue then holy arrows aren't even a problem anymore
I don't know why but in every single my world they just spawn every where as long it was hallowed which is normally about 35% on my large world

I used the shot bow and the chloro arrows to shred golem. Indoors they are something else

I’d say that hellfire arrows are super strong since they drop from hellpots and are preboss and are super op against the evil boss

I like hellfire arrows, feels like shooting missiles with a bow. The knock back does wonders in early hard mode, keeping that every day enemy away from your squishy ass.
Hellfire arrows carry you against the wall of flesh with it's huge damage, they are a must have for fighting pre-hardcore bosses.
Just saying if your overwhelmed by spawn rates you just use some hellfire arrows for a “bit of space”

Hellfire arrows good for ice golem farming cause explosion deals damage through walls. Just build 2 high enough walls or box, wait for golem spawn, go inside and yes

The chlorophyte arrows act similarly to the crystal dart ammo. They both automatically target any nearby enemy after bouncing off a surface. Crystal darts are better, since they pierce more.

when you defeat alll celestial pillars shoot above yourself with a tsanmi bow + chlorophyte arrows to nearly oneshot the moon lord eye that does the big laser and its even better with the quiver and shroomite armor
i love upgrading to different weapons but i hate upgrading my ammo, so i always go from frostbite arrows, to jester arrows, then i flip a coin to use holy arrows or the given world evil arrows and use whatever the coin chooses for me, and depending on how i feel i may upgrade to chlorophyte ones. this means i upgrade like 3 times, maybe 4 times total. i dont ever see the need to upgrade to luminite ones since im practically done at that point, and i dont feel like grinding luminite for useless arrows
i wonder if those ammos are able to make wood bow as strong as a hardmode weapon

i like hellfire arrows for boss like bee queen , king slime, eye of culuthu and skeleton
I feel like the molten fury should be buffed to transform arrows into hellfire arrows. At least then I'd actually see a reason for using it.
I just thought that deadolous stormbow + hell fire arrows may be good against destroyer, as the explosions can act as a small aoe and if the destroyer spawns its minions it might kill them

Talking about the thumbnail here. Hellfire Arrows can not be bad, because they make cool explosion sound on impact, and activate my few remaining happy chemicals.

Holy Arrows are actually better than before for the bosses except destroyer since the nerf removed the s and made it Single Target (So you wont miss damage)
Also I just use Frostburn Arrows before BoC EoW, for BoC and EoW, I use Jester, after that I stick with Hellstone Arrows for queen bee and get Bee's Knees with Wooden Arrows for skeletron. After that I use Hellwing Bow with Wooden Arrows to defeat WoF
For hardmode I use holy arrows until beating moonlord, after that I use the luminite arrows

Making the claim that luminite arrows are the best in the game is questionable. Their unique property is so niche that, oftentimes, you're better off just using chlorophyte or holy arrows. At least with them you have a higher likelihood to hit your opponents a second time.
I don’t bother use flame/frost arrows unless early game. As you said each type of arrows have the special time. I don’t use jester on a group of enemies. They quite expensive. So unholy/hell arrows are just renewable at any time from npc so they common use for me. Also holy is the best. Since you set up hallow afk farm. It good. Last thing hellstone arrows are just strong knockback so better be use with enemies with high k/r imo
