In December 2021, we moved aboard our sailboat Te Tāiko, a Chico 40, and we have been fortunate to sail to many of New Zealand’s islands and anchorages. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. Our plan? We try not to make too many plans but plan to do blue water cruising. Whilst sailing New Zealand's northern coastline, we're completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills sailing New Zealand waters.

The pain is real. I like doing most boat jobs, but the list keeps growing, now I'm putting them off, which is the worst thing to do. Just exhausted.

I hear you and think you can get burnt out over time if working really hard on it. I think important to go sailing to get the payback/positive side
