      Is Jesus GOD?

Jesus is Divine because He was begotten of the Father before anything was created.
He wasn't created though He was Begotten of the Father.
      Colossians 1:16-20
      King James Version
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
      19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
He has all the attributes of God therefore He is Divine, but not the Almighty. Here are the scriptures for this...
This is Jesus praying the night He was taken hostage.
      John 17:3
      King James Version
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the Only True God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
      1 Corinthians 8:6
      King James Version
6 But to us there is but One God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
      Ephesians 4:4-5
      King James Version
      4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
      1 Timothy 2:3-4-5
      King James Version
      3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
      5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
As far as the Holy Spirit being a God, the scriptures don't support this. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God the Father which we receive THROUGH His only begotten Son, the Comforter, that comes to live in us, if we are truly born again.
      Galatians 4:4-5-6
      King James Version
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
      Colossians 1:27
      King James Version
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
The trinity denies the sonship of Jesus and states 3 co-eternal beings. "God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit"
The problem with this is if Jesus has always been, He can't be a real true Son!
This denies the SACRIFICE our Father in Heaven and Jesus made. This then denies the Love they have for us which is the power of the Gospel.
Satan is a liar and hates the Father & Son so much that he's deceived the whole world into worshipping a false god, and they don't even know that's what they are doing...
very sad indeed. Here is the scripture
      1 John 2:22
      King James Version
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is the antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Can I just make a humble remark in regards to this subject? Doug is stating that those who do not believe in the trinity disregard the spirit. This is a misrepresentation of the other side of the conversation. It’s very simple the Holy Spirit is not a separate person from the Father and Son.
Everything in the Bible is of, of, of, of God, because everything came from the Father.

@@johansteyn3756 The words Son of God mean that there are two people being mentioned. The words Spirit of God also imply that there are two persons being mentioned. Matthew 28:19-20 also mentions from Jesus own words that there is a Father, a Son and a Holy Spirit. The weight of evidence shows that the Holy Spirit is a separate divine person from Christ and the Father and my favorite author describes the Holy Spirit as the "third person of the Godhead"
Mathew 12:31-32 teaches us the distinction between Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Words and blasphemy spoken against Jesus will be forgiven but not forgiven if spoken against the Holy Spirit. Also it shows the divinity of the Holy Spirit. Only God can be blasphemed and Jesus here says that the Holy Spirit can be blasphemed. It is blasphemy to teach false interpretations of the Holy Spirit and to deny His existence. Acts 5:3-4 further prove the divinity of the Holy Spirit. john 1:1-3 and Hebrews 1:8 and John 8:58 prove the divinity of Christ. They, together with the Father are the three in whose name that we are supposed to baptize in

God is a person, that is your problem, since the Trinity destroys God being a person. Do you believe God is a person? God is the Father of Jesus.
The word Godhead means Divinity. polease go and look at the dictionary meaning. It in no mean means Trinity or a family of gods.
The Holy Spirit is a distinct person, I have no problem, but the Spirit is not separate from the Father like the Son is. It proceeds from the Father and the son. Just read the Bible and SOP. Yes, I do believe in what she wrote.
Did you know that she also said that Jesus's humanity is also a disticnt individuality. Do you believe Jesus is a Duality? Maybe then there are four gods. Please consider that we have been deceived. Study what the pioneers believed!!!!

Amen Sickletrumpeter! The trinity makes GOD a liar and denies the Father and Son are to be exalted ALONE. You can't have a TRUE Father & a TRUE Son unless one comes before the other!!!
If both are co-eternal (no beginning) then you can't have a Father and a Son relationship.
And it gets worse when you read in the Bible that the Holy Spirit covered Mary. If the Holy Spirit is a Co-eternal god, then the Holy Spirit is Jesus earthly father, not the Almighty God The True Father...
The trinity makes God the Father & Jesus liars.

I beg you Constance to consider what I'm sharing with you!
❣The most important doctrine in the Bible is who we worship.
The trinity denies the sonship of Jesus Christ and those who follow the trinity as I once did, may have a shock should they hear from our Master... I never knew you. Depart from me ye workers of iniquity!
If the godhead consists of 3 coeternal beings (no beginning and no end), you can't have a true Father/Son relationship. A son must come from the Father.
      1 John 2:22
      King James Version
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is the antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
      Let the Bible explain itself!
There is One Almighty God who truly has begotten a Son that HE gave up for our salvation!
The Holy Spirit is the Almighty's Spirit that HE gave to HIS Son who gives it to us freely when we are born again.
When Mary was covered by the Holy Spirit and Jesus was concieved, that would make the Holy Spirit Jesus Father and not the ALMIGHTY GOD the Father.
This makes Jesus and God the Father liars!
The following Scriptures changed my life!
Jesus praying in the garden before His crucifiction
      John 17:3

My brother did you even listen to the entire sermon here that gives you all the Bible verses that speak against what you are implying here? The Bible makes it clear that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are three in one (all God). He gave Many Bible verses that say this. I encourage you to listen to the entire thing and write those down and study them out. Also, the Bible does have things in it that not all will understand fully until God reveals it to them. For example “ But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.” - That’s in Daniel and just one example. Just because something seems confusing in the Bible doesn’t mean it will always be that way. God makes things clear yes, but we may not fully understand it for awhile until His Spirit reveals it in its great depths to us - That’s what makes His book the Living Word! One can Always get deeper understanding by re-reading and studying it! Praise God! I pray you do not harden your heart to this comment but choose to remain open minded and searching Gods word for greater understanding as we all must if we hope to enter His Kingdom on that great day when He returns for all those who earnestly are seeking His truths and communing with Him daily walking in a close Enoch-like relationship with Him. 🙏🏻❤️ blessings!

The Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary states concerning these verses: The disputed words found their way into the KJV by way of the Greek text of Erasmus. It is said that Erasmus offered to include the disputed words in his Greek Testament if he were shown even one Greek MS that contained them. A library in Dublin produced such a MS (known as 34), and Erasmus included the passage in his text. It is now believed that the later editions of the Vulgate acquired the passage by the mistake of a scribe who included an exegetical marginal comment in the Bible text that he was copying. The disputed words have been widely used in support of the doctrine of the Trinity, but, in view of such overwhelming evidence against their authenticity, their support is valueless and should not be used (The Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 675)

Here is the full comment for context:
      7. For there are three. Hebrew practice, based on Deut. 17:6; 19:15: etc., demanded consistent testimony from two or three witnesses before action was taken in certain legal disputes. John is here citing three witnesses in support of the divinity of his Master (1 John 5:5, 6, 8), thus assuring his readers of the reliability of his statement. Bear record. Gr. martureō, "to witness," "to testify." Martureo is translated "to bear. witness" (v. 6) and "to testify" (v. 9). The Greek implies that the witness is being borne continuously. In heaven. Textual evidence attests (cf.p. 10) the omission of the passage "in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth." resultant reading of vs. 7, 8 is as follows: "For there are three that bear record, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." The passage as given in the KJV is in no Greek MS earlier than the 15th and 16th centuries. The disputed words found their way into the KJV by way of the Greek text of Erasmus (see Vol. V, p. 141). The disputed words have been widely used in support of the doctrine of the Trinity, but, in view of such overwhelming evidence against their authenticity, their support is valueless and should not be used. In spite of their appearance in the Vulgate A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture freely admits regarding these words: "It is now generally held that this passage, called the Comma Johanneum, is a gloss that crept into the text of the Old Latin and Vulgate at an early date, but found its way into the Greek text only in the 15th and 16th centuries" (Thomas Nelson and Sons, 1951, p. 1186).

Beware, my friend, of the philosophy grinder of men. If the relationship of God and the Father is "just a metaphor", according to SDA pastors, then that makes both Yehova and His only begotten Son, the bright shining star, the root and descendant of David, liars. That is scary. Stick to the simplicity of the Bible. Is not the SDA is an denominational empire, who have adopted many Roman Catholic teachings such as Friday crucifixion and an Easter Sunday resurrection.

    Also another book that I have read that’s is so clear about the Holy Spirit is the book steps to Christ chapter 8 read the whole chapter until the end and you will see clear clear who is the Holy Spirit and I am sure the Lord will show you ! I was amazed yesterday by reading chapter 8 all the way to the end and it’s clear the message about the Holy Spirit ❤I fell in love one more time for what I read . God has amazed me so much with this new truth and I dont need to argue to prove to anyone because is just pure clear who is the Holy Spirit .     The Sovereign of the universe was not alone in His work of beneficence. He had an associate-a co-worker who could appreciate His purposes, and could share His joy in giving happiness to created beings. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” John 1:1, 2. Christ, the Word, the only begotten of God, was one with the eternal Father-one in nature, in character, in purpose-the only being that could enter into all the counsels and purposes of God. “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6. His “goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Micah 5:2. And the Son of God declares concerning Himself: “The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting.... When He appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him.” Proverbs 8:22-30. {PP 34.1}

@@EricHort-cx1jp One thing I know Eric is that the disciples ALL baptized in JESUS NAME. Prove me wrong and I'll listen. I just want the truth. So either they were being disobedient to Christs command, or the verse you are quoting has been altered.
Trinitarian Baptism Formula - did it come from Christ?
It is written in the Catholic Encyclopedia II, page 263:
"The baptismal formula was changed from the name of Jesus Christ to the words Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by the Catholic Church in the second century."
Statement of fact and admission by the Catholic Church in their encyclopedia.
Now, how can this change by the RCC in the Bible translations be proven to be true in the word of God for it is written:
Examine the verse in Matthew 28:
“Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,” (Matt. 28.19)
Now go to the very next verse as everyone overlooks this for it is written:
“and TEACH THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28:20).
We got a really big problem here as scripture was broken (John 10:35) for it is written:
"Peter said to them, “Each one of you MUST TURN AWAY from your SINS AND BE BAPTIZED in THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, so that your SINS WILL BE FORGIVEN; and you WILL RECEIVE God's GIFT, the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38).
Jesus tells us in John 10:35 that scripture cannot be broken! Also note a Bible translation is not scripture, its a translation and unless you have the Holy Spirit, you will be deceived.
If Jesus actually had given His disciples the Trinitarian order of baptism after His resurrection; then according to Matthew 28:20, the apostles all disobeyed the Lord's direct order/command and baptized everyone incorrectly.
The New Testament knows only one baptism which is in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3; 1 Cor. 1:13-15), which still occurs even in the second and third centuries, while the Trinitarian formula occurs only once in Matt. 28:19.
Why would the apostles disregard the Lord’s command? The Lord never never gave it! It was added to the text and the Book of Acts proves it!
Now let’s look at the baptism command Christ gave in the gospel of Luke:
“Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “THIS IS WHAT IS WRITTEN: the Messiah must suffer and must rise from death three days later, and in HIS NAME the message about REPENTANCE AND THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS must be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:45-47).
Note: Repentance and the forgiveness of sins is done through baptism (Acts 2:38)
      This command perfectly lines up with Acts 2:38, 8:16; 10:43; 19:5; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3; 1 Cor. 1:13-15)

Hoists pardon, righteousness and His judgment and teach us more than Jesus did John 16:5-14. Remission of sins means a prevention of sinning in spite of our sinfulness 1Pet 2:11. Baptism means dead TO SIN not a continuance IN SIN Rom 6:1-6. Christs bold and His righteousness saves us FROM SIN . The Holy Spirits power KEEPS US from sinning Jude 24. God is NOT a Human and NEVER was a human, but the Spirit, which is God, manifest Himself in a Human body that the Spirit itself created. But God wasn't the body He was in because God is not Flesh, He was the Spirit in the body, manifesting His power in the flesh. 🙌🏾 😁 "Holy" describes His character because He's clean, perfect, infallible, pure, perpetual, flawless, etc. That's why He's called the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. Ghost just means Spirit, that's all. God operates as the Father, because He's the creator of heaven and earth and the universe. God operated in the Son, which was the flesh, when He manifest Himself in flesh. God is the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit, that's another operation. Father, Son, & Holy Ghost are not "persons", but operations of God.👇🏾😇

Unity of Spirit, Purpose, and Action = The Mind of the Father was the Mind of the Son.
    I was shown some things in reference to the sad state of things at Monterey. Discord and disunion are doing their work in separating brethren. And why, I inquired, is there so much of this work practiced? Why are brethren so easily disaffected, suspicious, and jealous of one another? Why do they give confidence to those who have no love for the truth and withdraw confidence from those who are brethren in their profession of faith? Why do they not guard the reputation of those of like profession of faith? The answer was given me. The enemy of souls is especially engaged in this work to weaken the confidence of believers in their brethren. His object in thus doing is to weaken the force of the influence of the church upon the world and make of none effect the prayer of Christ. The burden of that prayer was that His disciples might be one as He was one with the Father; the oneness so close that, although two distinct beings, there was perfect unity of spirit, purpose, and action. The mind of the Father was the mind of the Son. {Lt1-1882.1}
    Satan trembled as he viewed his work. He was alone, in meditation upon the past, the present, and the future. His mighty frame shook as with a tempest. An angel from Heaven was passing. Satan called him, and intreated an interview with Christ. This was granted. He then related to him that he repented of his rebellion, and wished again to enjoy the favor of God. He was willing to take the place which had been assigned him, and be under Christ’s command. The Son of God wept at Satan’s woe, but told him, as the mind of the Father, that this could never be. Heaven must not be placed in jeopardy. The peace of Heaven would be marred, should he be received back; for sin originated with him; the seeds of rebellion were still within him. He had no occasion for his course, and he had not only hopelessly ruined himself, but the host of angels also, who would still have been happy in Heaven had he remained steadfast. The law of God could condemn, but could not pardon. {ST January 16, 1879, par. 9}
    Oh, what privileges are ours to be colaborers with Jesus Christ! He comes to you as the Spirit of truth. Study the mind of the Spirit. Consult His dictates as your sure and unerring Counsellor. In following your own counsels your spirit has lost its hold on God, making it impossible for you to discriminate and determine moral power. The Lord has rescued you, reinforced your spiritual aspirations. {Lt144-1896.9}
    Jesus comes to you as the Spirit of truth; study the mind of the Spirit, consult your Lord, follow His way. If you yield to the dictates of the mind and flesh, your spirit will lose its proper character and balance, and you fail to discern and cannot appreciate moral power. Then you will seek to carry out the maxims of worldlings. Their voices are heard on every side, here is the path of success. Your mind will, if you follow their suggestions, be deceived, carnalized, and you will esteem the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit as less than human invention. God calls upon you to close the door to human inventions and to open the door to divine illumination. Be careful that you do not resist the Spirit of God in its office work upon the temple of the soul. Be determined to please God, to magnify His name, to enjoy the sweet influence of His grace. {Ms8c-1891.14}

1 Peter 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
Revelation 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

    Q. Does the spirit equal the mind?
Isaiah 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or [being] his counsellor hath taught him?
Romans 11:34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
    Q. How does the spirit or mind of a man compare with the Spirit or Mind of God?
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The context one defines it's meaning. When the Bible says one God (1Cor 8:6) it's numerical, but when the Bible talks about one in John 17, it's Unity. Rightly dividing the word of truth will help understand it correctly, mixing the words incorrectly will lead sincere people down the wrong road. This is where Pr Doug has made the mistake about the comment on one God.

What I also find interesting is this ...
The word allos in Greek can be interpreted as not only "another" but also as "other" and "one"
The example is found in John
“And herein is that saying true, one (allos) soweth, and another (allos) reapeth.”
      - John 4:37 (KJV)
So when we read what King James interpreted in John 14, we see this ...
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”
      - John 14:16 (KJV)
It can also be read this way...
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you One Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”
      - John 14:16
      Seeing that Jesus said this:
“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you yet a little while.”
      - John 14:18 (KJV)
Of the two verses, which one is more appropriate and suited to the context, the former or the latter?

@@banapuru I believe they are both relevant. I believe that Jesus is The Comforter . I believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that comes through Jesus to us, if we are born again. If the Holy Spirit was another God, then, when Mary was covered by the Holy Spirit, that makes the Holy Spirit, Jesus father, and not the Almighty God. The trinity denies the Father Son relationship, which is the heart of the gospel.
If Jesus had no beginning, then he couldn’t be a Son, which makes God the Father and his only begotten Son Jesus liars. The Scriptures are plain as to who is a liar. First John 2:22 who is a liar, but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ he is the antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either he who acknowledges Son has the Father also.

The essence of catholic trinity doctrine is John1:1. Ironic though is the absence of "the Spirit person" in John1:1. Trinity is defined by the absolute unity and unseperable 3-oneness. This goes for the corruption of 1 John 5:7 also. The original Greek scripture does NOT contain the 1 John 5:7 add on.....
" the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one"
      The verse ends with
"....that bear record in heaven, " .....then verse 8 starts.
Go study the historical evidence of how Erasmus(who was responsible for re-producing the scriptures)
He initially said.....show me the Greek scripture proof......which upon they artificially produced a greek manuscript which contained the ........ "the Father and the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

The " One" God in Duet 6:4 is " ekh-awd" as in one family, people etc . or one together in association . What is wrong with a Trinity . God the Father sent the Son to save the world from sin through the Cross, then when Christ's work was finished Jesus sent the Holy Spirit as His representative to continue wher He left off John 16 ,17. Ellen never uses the word trinity, but she does use the word Godhead over and over again. She believed in the deity of Christ and how He is God in the highest sense. She talks about the three living persons of the heavenly trio. She says that the Spirit is the third person of the Godhead and describes Him as having a personality. So we must be careful how we talk about her!

Bible TV Hi. If we knew all about God He wouldn't be God. All we know is that God prepared His body for Him Heb 10:5. If the Holy Spirit came upon Mary then it would make the Holy Spirit God also
This we know also is that Jesus Himself said that He ( Jesus) was no longer a Spirit but still a human as we are Luke 24: 36-42. At the incarnation ( although still divine) Jesus lost His omnipresence Thisbis why at His departure when He had completed the work His Father had given Him He gave us ANOTHER Comforter Who does what Jesus says of Him to do. John chs 16,17. The book of Acts is full of the help and direction the disciples received from the Holy Spirit .How heaven works together to save us we may never know until Jesus comes . We will still be learning throughout eternity

If that's true then God the Father isn't really God the Father whom Jesus directed His prayer to in John 17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the Only True GOD, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
That would mean that Jesus lied when He called God The Father, His Father.

It's easy to understand. You have a spirit, so do I, so does The Father God and so does His Son.

Ellen was not a trinitarian, but after her passing others with the Millerite movement Dr. Kellogg in particular continued the debate over God being a triune of 3 co-equals, or God being one person and his son. Ellen argued for the latter and her position is still represented in the Adventist church to this day. This distracted "remnant" church is changing. It more resembles the Seventh Day Adventist Catholic Church than a chosen remnant of God. The call to come out of Babylon, the sifting, and the shaking are under way. There is a remnant within a remnant and God is calling his children out who are worshiping the one true God.
By elevating the role of the Holy Spirit to God the Holy Spirit we have erased the son-ship and work Jesus did in the flesh and on the cross. In other words, it takes away God's plan of salvation for man, and creates a new God. Don't forget the first commandment. Who are you worshipping?

Pastor Doug , first of all thank you for your sermons.

Psalm 2:7 can be understood in light of 2 Peter 3:8 to the "day" when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. If one studies the time carefully, one can trace back to about David's time as preceding Christ's birth by one millennium. God was too excited to keep silent! He had to announce it!
As for Colossians 1:15, I don't think Doug or any other Trinitarian will be able to explain it. Nor could they understand or explain John 1:18, 1 John 4:12, or 1 Timothy 1:17. Jesus was seen--any Bible reader knows that much. The obvious _Biblical_ conclusion is that Jesus was not God, because no man has seen God at any time. But who said Trinitarianism was biblical?

    Does God change?
Malachi 3:6 For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

    Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

What is the testimony of GOD THE FATHER?
1 John 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

GOD THE FATHER said Jesus is His beloved Son.
Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Jesus says that the testimony of the FATHER is true.
John 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. 32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
John 5:36 But I have greater witness than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. 37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

King Nebuchadnezzar declared he saw the saw the Son of God.
Daniel 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the Most High God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

The fallen angels said Jesus was the Son of God.
Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, what have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Luke 4:3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

Jesus taught that He was the Son of God.
John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God 36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Jesus was crucified for His testimony that He was the Son of God.

Mark 14:61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again, the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? 64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? Luke 22:66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, :67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68 And if I also ask [you], ye will not answer me, nor let [me] go. 69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

I suggest we turn to scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy in regard to who Proverbs 8:22-30 is referring.
God's people also need to understand that this issue of wether or not Jesus truly is the only begotten Son of God, this is the origin of the great controversy
    in heaven.
    1Cor. 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us WISDOM, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
His “goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Micah 5:2. And the Son of God declares CONCERNING HIMSELF: “The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting.... When He appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him.” Proverbs 8:22-30. PP 34.1
Through Solomon CHRIST DECLARED: “The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth.... When He gave to the sea His decree, that the waters should not pass His commandment; when He appointed the foundations of the earth; then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him.”
In speaking of His pre-existence, Christ carries the mind back through dateless ages. RH August 29 1900.15
Angels were expelled from heaven because they would not work in harmony with God. They fell from their high estate because they wanted to be exalted. They had come to exalt themselves, and they forgot that their beauty of person and of character came from the Lord Jesus. THIS FACT the [fallen] angels would obscure, that Christ was the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD and they came to consider that they were not to consult Christ.
One angel BEGAN THE CONTROVERSY and carried it on until there was rebellion in the heavenly courts, among the angels. They were lifted up because of their beauty.
    TDG 128.2
Christ was the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, and Lucifer, that glorious angel, got up a WARFARE OVER THE MATTER, until he had to be thrust down to the earth. He knows what I am saying today. He knows whenever there is a company assembled together as you are here. He knows when we are making efforts in every way possible to reach out to win the minds of the people. He has his agencies appointed so that after this meeting will be over, circumstances will arise and the enemy will try to gain the victory.
    Ms86 1910.29
We need also much more knowledge; we need to be enlightened in regard to the plan of salvation. There is NOT ONE IN ONE HUNDRED who understands for himself the Bible truth on this subject that is so necessary to our present and eternal welfare. When light begins to shine forth to make clear the plan of redemption to the people, the enemy works with all diligence that the light may be shut away from the hearts of men. If we come to the Word of God with a teachable, humble spirit, the rubbish of error will be swept away, and gems of truth, long hidden from our eyes, will be discovered. 1Sm 359.2
    1Tim. 4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

      Micah 5:2
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. (NIV)
Some Trinitarians believe Micah 5:2 teaches the eternal pre-existence of Jesus, however, an examination of both the words used and the context of the passage shows that neither Micah nor Matthew was declaring the “eternal pre-existence” of the Messiah. Rather, the passages refer to the promise of God given to David in Israel’s historical past, centuries before Micah lived.[1]
There are three phrases at the end of Micah 5:2 that may, or may not refer to eternality, and understanding these three phrases is essential:
      1. motsa-otav וּמוֹצָאֹתָ֥יו translated “his origin/s” or “his goings forth”.
      2. miqedem מִקֶּ֖דֶם translated “from before” or “from old” or “from long ago”.
      3. mimei olam מִימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם translated “from eternity” or “from ancient days”.
Let us look at some examples of y’mei olam and qedem referring to Israel’s historical past, not to “eternity past”:
Micah 7:14 “Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them graze in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old (“y’mei olam” same word just with a different prefix).” Micah uses olam combined with y’mei, not in reference to eternity past, but to a time when the flock grazed.
Micah 7:20 “You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old (מִ֥ימֵי קֶֽדֶם).” Micah used the word qedem, in construct with mimei “days of”, to refer to patriarchal times.
Psalm 44:1 “O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old (b’mei qedem בִּ֣ימֵי קֶֽדֶם).”
Psalm 77:6 and Psalm 77:12 “I consider the days of old (miqedem יָמִ֣ים מִקֶּ֑דֶם), the years long ago (olamim שְׁ֝נ֗וֹת עוֹלָמִֽים)… I will remember the deeds of Yahweh; yes, I will remember your wonders of old (miqedem מִקֶּ֣דֶם)…. You, with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph…You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron (cf. Psa. 77:15, 20).”
Isaiah 63:11 “Then he remembered the days of old (y’mei olam יְמֵֽי־עוֹלָ֖ם), of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock?”
Thus, neither one of these constructions refers to an eternity past.
The word olam עוֹלָֽם “age, eternity” is one of the main reasons for the confusion and supposed “eternality” in the Micah passage. “It (olam) can mean eternity, but it often does not when the context puts limits on its meaning.”[2] In Micah 5:2, olam is modified, and therefore limited to human time, by the word “days.”
As an idiom, olam (עוֹלָֽם) combined with “days of ימֵ֥י” means “days of long ago, days of a previous historical era, or “years of (שנים / שנות) an ancient historical era”. The words “days” and “years” in construct with olam עוֹלָֽם restrict the meaning to historical (human) time. That is, to past times (days and years) when God did wonders among the fathers. The time of the patriarchs, or the Exodus from Egypt and conquest are especially thought of as “days/years of long ago” when Yahweh led his people like a shepherd by the hand of Moses, Aaron and Joshua (Psa. 44:2-3). David’s days are also specifically recalled (Amos 9:11, “as in the days of old,” כִּימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם).
The NET Bible translation, a conservative evangelical translation, agrees. The NET note on these two phrases says, “Elsewhere (in the Bible) both phrases refer to the early periods in the history of the world or of the nation of Israel.”
When using mimei olam, Micah had in mind not a nebulous eternity past, but “days of old,” God’s ancient promise to David (2 Sam. 7; 1 Chron. 17; Psa. 2) who was from Bethlehem. Micah lived in the middle of the 700s BC. David lived around 1000 BC. The promise to David was made some 250 years before Micah lived, מִימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם מִקֶּ֖דֶם “from before, from days long ago”.
      “Origins”
Although the precise meaning of motsa-ot is unclear because of its rare usage, it most likely means, as some English translations render it (e.g., RSV, NET, NIV, etc.), “his origin/s”, relating to the ancestry of the promised ruler. From the same Hebrew root is the word “descendant” צאצא tse-eh-tsa (e.g., Job 5:25; Isa. 44:3) and the later Hebrew word for “ancestry” ממוצא. In association with miqedem and mimei olam “from before, from days of long ago” which relate to Israel’s historical past, the feminine plural form in Micah 5:2 most likely relates to physical ancestry, especially David’s and/or Abraham’s. The coming ruler’s origin, his ancestry, is in the promise of God of a literal, physical descendant to come from the family and dynasty of David.
Does Matthew 2:5-6 or Micah 5:2 teach that Jesus pre-existed?
In Micah 5:2 it is Yahweh (the LORD) speaking via the prophet Micah (cf. Micah 4:6). Yahweh says that a ruler will come forth from Bethlehem of Judah for me. The ruler does not come forth from Yahweh in some ontological sense of “eternal generation”. Rather, the coming forth is from a geographical location (Bethlehem) and by implication from the Davidic dynastic family. Jewish leaders in the time of Jesus applied the passage to the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem (Matt. 2:4-6), not to Jesus’ generation from the Father in eternity past.
Also, the coming ruler comes from Bethlehem to rule for Yahweh. That is, the coming ruler is distinguished from Yahweh. The coming ruler from Bethlehem is not Yahweh himself, but is Yahweh’s designated human vice-regent who, like David, will rule for Yahweh.
It is very likely that this verse also had immediate fulfillment in King Hezekiah as a type of Jesus, the Christ. Therefore, it certainly would not be teaching pre-existence because we know that King Hezekiah did not exist before his birth. The historical context of the passage is “This (or this one) will be our peace when the Assyrian comes into our land, and treads in our palaces…” (Micah 5:5-6). Micah’s words were spoken when the mighty nation of Assyria threatened to conquer both the northern Kingdom of Israel and southern Kingdom of Judah. The Northern Kingdom of Israel would be destroyed by Assyria, but Judah, incredibly, survived.
Micah’s prophecy had a certain fulfillment in the days of a descendant of David, Hezekiah (Isa. 37:15-38). Yahweh was keeping His promise to David by setting David’s descendant Hezekiah on the throne. Micah knew (as did his contemporary, Isaiah) that although Assyria was God’s tool, God would stop mighty Assyria in its tracks (2 Chron. 32:20-22; Isa. 37:35). Judah would survive under the shepherding of King Hezekiah who ruled in the strength of his God, Yahweh.
Thus far, it has been demonstrated that none of the three terms above teach “eternality” or that Jesus pre-existed. Not only that, but even if these terms did, Matthew fails to quote them in Matthew 2:5-6, a shocking move if Micah 5:2 teaches Jesus’ pre-existence. Matthew does not quote, “whose origin is from of old, from ancient days” (Micah 5:2).
If this is one of the only texts in the whole bible supporting the eternality of the Son, it is quite baffling that the New Testament authors would never quote it, and that Matthew would quote one part of the verse, that the Messiah would be from Bethlehem (a non-salvific detail), without quoting the part that Trinitarians believe to be a matter of salvation, the pre-existence of Jesus.

      Proverbs 8:23
I [wisdom] was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.(NIV)
Occasionally, a Trinitarian will use this verse to try to support the Trinity and the pre-existence of Christ by saying that “wisdom” was appointed from eternity, Christ is the “wisdom of God” (1 Cor. 1:24) and, therefore, Christ was from eternity. This position has not found strong support even among Trinitarians, and for good reason. This wisdom in Proverbs was “appointed” (literally, “set up”) by God, and is therefore subordinate to God. Carefully reading the verse and its context shows that wisdom was “brought forth as the first of His works” (v. 22). If this “wisdom” were Christ, then Christ would be the first creation of God, which is an Arian belief and heretical to orthodox Trinitarians. Therefore many of the Church Fathers rejected this verse as supportive of the Trinity, among them such “heavyweights” as Athanasius, Basil, Gregory, Epiphanius and Cyril. We reject it also, but for different reasons. Taking a concept and speaking of it as if it were a person is the figure of speech Personification. Personification often makes it easier to relate to a concept or idea because, as humans, we are familiar with relating to other humans. Personification was common among the Jews, and the wisdom of God is personified in Proverbs. Christ is considered the wisdom of God in Corinthians because of what God accomplishes through him.

      Hello there,
      If we understand the word “name” (G3686 authority) being used in this context denotes authority, and that Jesus was given “All power” (G1849 authority, jurisdiction), and that these are instructions given in regard to baptism, then it makes perfect sense that we are commissioned (given official approval or power to act) in order that we may;
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing in the name (authority) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
I pray that answers you question sufficiently. God bless

@@jesusdiedforyouandme2566 What's your thoughts on how the disciples understood Jesus' commission to them? Do you suppose you know more than those who lived and communed constantly with Jesus for three and a half years--the Greatest Teacher that ever walked on earth? It is sad that those very disciples, if they were Adventist pastors today, would be defrocked for not baptizing "correctly." They baptized only in the name of Jesus.
      -------
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. (Acts 8:12)
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) (Acts 8:16)
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. (Acts 10:48)
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 19:4-5)
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (Acts 22:16)
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (Romans 6:3)
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27)
      -------
There is only ONE name by which we may be saved. Acts 4:10-12 tells us what that is. Matthew 28:19 speaks of only one name. The disciples knew that that name was "Jesus." Jesus taught that he had come in his father's name (see John 5:43).

To find the truth-you have to be willing to give up everything-your established beliefs, even your church, and search with all your heart to find that Pearl of great price to follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth.
The straight testimony in a nutshell:
There is One God, the Father, aka the Most High, Ancient of Days, Almighty God. I Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; Daniel 7:13, 22.
And everything proceeds from God-His only begotten/born Son, the Holy Spirit, all life.
    John 1:14, 18; 3:16; 5:26; 8:42; 15:26; 16:27, 28.
    I Cor. 11:12; 2 Cor. 5:18; I Tim. 6:13, 17; Roman’s 11:36.
The Identity of the Holy Spirit is revealed if you humbly study to know God in John chapters 14-17, but specifically see John 14:17-23; 17:3, 21-23; Romans 8:9-11; I Cor. 6:17; 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17; Gal. 4:6; Matthew 10:20; Mark 13:11; Luke 21:15.
One must have faith that God means what He says-He IS one God-not 3 in 1. The Jews never worshiped a triune God. That is adding to scripture.
The SDA Bible commentary states regarding I John 5:7-that it is a gloss and cannot be used to prove a trinity.
One must believe in God’s and Jesus’ testimony that He IS the Son of God, begotten of the Father in eternity past-Micah 5:2; Proverbs 8:22-31; I Cor. 1:24,30.
“God IS Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth.
Truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
    John 4:24; I John 1:3; 2:1, 2.

      John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. (KJV)
This verse has often been put forward by Trinitarians as one of the clearest examples of Jesus being called God in the New Testament. However, we believe that there are better ways to understand these words of Thomas without believing that Thomas is calling Jesus God.
The first way one could understand Thomas’s words is that both “My Lord” and “My God” are in reference to Jesus, but that the phrase “My God” should be understood as “my god” with a lowercase G, thus, Thomas would not be calling Jesus the supreme God, but ‘god’ in a lesser sense. The second way to understand Thomas’s words would be that “My Lord” is in reference to Jesus and “My God” is in reference to the Father, who was working through Jesus.
      1. Let us look at the first understanding further. Jesus never referred to himself as “God” in the absolute sense, so what precedent then would Thomas have for calling Jesus “my God”? The Greek language uses the word theos, (“God” or “god”) with a broader meaning than is customary today. In the Greek language and in the culture of the day, “GOD” (all early manuscripts of the Bible were written in all capital letters) was a descriptive title applied to a range of authorities, including the Roman governor (Acts 12:22), and even the Devil (2 Cor. 4:4). It was used of someone with divine authority. It was not limited to its absolute sense as a personal name for the supreme Deity as we use it today.
Given the language of the time, and given that Jesus did represent the Father and have divine authority, the expression used by Thomas is certainly understandable. On the other hand, to make Thomas say that Jesus was “God,” and thus 1/3 of a triune God, seems incredible. In Concessions of Trinitarians, Michaelis, a Trinitarian, writes:
I do not affirm that Thomas passed all at once from the extreme of doubt to the highest degree of faith, and acknowledged Christ to be the true God. This appears to me too much for the then existing knowledge of the disciples; and we have no intimation that they recognized the divine nature of Christ before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I am therefore inclined to understand this expression, which broke out in the height of his astonishment, in a figurative sense, denoting only “whom I shall ever reverence in the highest degree”…Or a person raised from the dead might be regarded as a divinity; for the word God is not always used in the strict doctrinal sense” [Michaelis is quoted by Dana, ref. below].
Remember that it was common at that time to call God’s representatives “God,” and the Old Testament contains quite a few examples. When Jacob wrestled with “God,” it is clear that he was actually wrestling with an angel (Hosea 12:4-For more on that, see the note on Genesis 16:7-13).
There are many Trinitarian authorities who admit that there was no knowledge of Trinitarian doctrine at the time Thomas spoke. For example, if the disciples believed that Jesus was “God” in the sense that many Christians do, they would not have “all fled” just a few days before when he was arrested. The confession of the two disciples walking along the road to Emmaus demonstrated the thoughts of Jesus’ followers at the time. Speaking to the resurrected Christ, whom they mistook as just a traveler, they talked about Jesus. They said Jesus “was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God…and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel” (Luke 24:19-21). The Bible is clear that these disciples thought Jesus was a “prophet.” Even though some of the apostles realized that Jesus was the Christ, they knew that according to the Old Testament prophecies, the Christ, the anointed of God, was to be a man. There is no evidence from the gospel accounts that Jesus’ disciples believed him to be God, and Thomas, upon seeing the resurrected Christ, was not birthing a new theology in a moment of surprise.
The context of the verse shows that its subject is the fact that Jesus was alive. Only three verses earlier, Thomas had ignored the eyewitness testimony of the other apostles when they told him they had seen the Lord. The resurrection of Christ was such a disputed doctrine that Thomas did not believe it (the other apostles had not either), and thus Jesus’ death would have caused Thomas to doubt that Jesus was who he said he was-the Messiah. Thomas believed Jesus was dead. Thus, he was shocked and astonished when he saw-and was confronted by- Jesus Himself. Thomas, upon being confronted by the living Christ, instantly believed in the resurrection, i.e., that God had raised the man Jesus from the dead, and, given the standard use of “God” in the culture as one with God’s authority, it certainly makes sense that Thomas would proclaim, “My Lord and my god.” There is no mention of the Trinity in the context, and there is no reason to believe that the disciples would have even been aware of such a doctrine. Thomas spoke what he would have known: that the man Jesus who he thought was dead was alive and had divine authority.
For other uses of theos applicable to this verse, see Hebrews 1:8.
      2. Let us look at some reasons as to why one could also understand “My Lord” to be in reference to Jesus, and “My God” could be in reference to the Father, thus, this verse would not be declaring Jesus to be God in any sense.
First, it should be noted that the verse does not explicitly assign the title “God” to Jesus. It does not read, “You are my Lord and my God,” instead, Thomas simply says both of these titles and we must use context to determine what is being referred to by Thomas.
Secondly, all throughout the New Testament and the book of John, the overwhelming usage of “God” is in reference to the Father, and “Lord” is in reference to Jesus (John 1:18; 3:16; 6:68; 13:14; 17:3; 20:18; 21:12; Eph. 1:17; 1 Cor. 1:3; Acts 2:36), so why should we understand those phrases differently here? For example, even in this same context, God is distinguished from Jesus, and Jesus has a God, John 20:17 reads, “Jesus said to her, ‘Do not touch me, because I have not yet gone up to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, “I am going up to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.”‘” How would ‘God’ (Jesus) have a ‘God’ (the Father) if there is only one God (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 44:6; John 17:3)? So, it would be rather strange for us to confuse God and Jesus here in John 20:28, making them one and the same.
Thirdly, believing that Thomas is calling Jesus God here is contrary to the rest of the apostles’ reactions to the resurrected Jesus. They consistently thought that the resurrection proved that God raised Jesus from the dead, not that the resurrection proved that Jesus was God (Acts 2:22-24, 36; 4:10; 5:30; 10:40; 13:30-37; Rom. 1:4; 10:9; Gal 1:1; 1 Pet. 1:21; etc.).
Fourthly, Jesus had not taught Thomas that he was God, so that would be a strange thing for Thomas to conclude. On the other hand, we do see that Jesus taught Thomas in John 14:9 that, “Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father,” and in John 10:32 and John 14:10 that the works Jesus does are the Father’s works, and in John 12:49-50 that Jesus’ words are from the Father. Thus, the idea that God the Father works through Jesus is clear from the book of John, and from what Jesus directly taught Thomas, but the idea that Jesus is God is not taught by Jesus or John anywhere.
Lastly, neither Jesus nor the author John capitalize on this quote by Thomas. If this really was a moment when one of the disciples finally recognized Jesus’ full divinity and his full equality with God, by calling him “my God,” why did neither Jesus nor John capitalize on this moment? If Jesus was a Trinitarian and understood that he was fully and equally God, and that believing that he is God is essential for salvation (as the vast majority of Trinitarians believe), in the only moment where one of his disciples seems to call him God, he fails to recognize it or comment on it, but instead commends Thomas for his faith saying, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29). Likewise, the author John brushes over this claim to Jesus’ deity as well saying, ” but these are written so that you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God…” (John 20:31) He does not mention anything about Christ’s deity, or how John wrote these things ‘so that we would believe that Jesus is God.’ This absence of any comment by Jesus or John, in the only place in the life of Jesus where someone seems to directly attribute the title ‘God’ to Jesus, speaks volumes.

      John 10:30
I and my father are one. (KJV)
      1. There is no reason to take this verse to mean that Christ was saying that he and the Father make up “one God.” The phrase was a common one, and even today if someone used it, people would know exactly what he meant-he and his father are very much alike. When Paul wrote to the Corinthians about his ministry there, he said that he had planted the seed and Apollos had watered it. Then he said, “he who plants and he who waters are one” (1 Cor. 3:8 - KJV). In the Greek texts, the wording of Paul is the same as that in John 10:30, yet no one claims that Paul and Apollos make up “one being.” Furthermore, the NIV translates 1 Corinthians 3:8 as “he who plants and he who waters have one purpose.” Why translate the phrase as “are one” in one place, but as “have one purpose” in another place? In this case, translating the same phrase in two different ways obscures the clear meaning of Christ’s statement in John 10:30: Christ always did the Father’s will; he and God have “one purpose.”
      2. Christ uses the concept of “being one” in other places, and from them one can see that “one purpose” is what is meant. John 11:52 says Jesus was to die to make all God’s children “one.” In John 17:11, 21 and 22, Jesus prayed to God that his followers would be “one” as he and God were “one.” We think it is obvious that Jesus was not praying that all his followers would become one being or “substance” just as he and his Father were one being or “substance.” We believe the meaning is clear: Jesus was praying that all his followers be one in purpose just as he and God were one in purpose, a prayer that has not yet been answered.
      3. The context of John 10:30 shows conclusively that Jesus was referring to the fact that he had the same purpose as God did. Jesus was speaking about his ability to keep the “sheep,” the believers, who came to him. He said that no one could take them out of his hand and that no one could take them out of his Father’s hand. Then he said that he and the Father were “one,” i.e., had one purpose, which was to keep and protect the sheep.

Jesus also prayed that his disciples would be "one" with him. If they are, will they then be "God" too? And why didn't Thomas say "my Lord _is_ my God"? The word "and" does not mean "is." In fact, it indicates that Thomas is recognizing two separate entities and acknowledging them both. Jesus said that the Father was in him and speaking through him (see John 14:10; 12:49; 8:28, 38, etc.). Thomas is recognizing the truth, that the Father (the only true God) was in Christ. As Paul put it, "God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself" (2 Corinthians 5:19).

Can someone please give me a bible text that says God the Son & God the Holy Spirit? I can't seem to find it in the Bible. If you say Jesus was created than he becomes equal with other angels & satan because they were all created, Jesus was begotten from God the Father!( We don't have to struggle to find out how, that is beyond us) He is the ultimate sacrifice, He was the only one worthy to come and die for our sins &He is the only one worthy to open the books of life, some things about God, His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit we don't need to try to find out and understand. We will never find answers in this life, we just have to believe that God the Father created this world through Jesus in six days, rested on the Sabbath day. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God. The text talking about "God the Holy Spirit" is just as real as the text saying "Paul the Spirit" that 1 Corinthians 5:3-4 references. Those who see the "spirit" as a separate entity from one's material existence (body) are spiritualists, by definition. Those who speak of "God the Spirit" do not realize that they have adopted one of the core tenets of spiritualism.

      1 John 5:7 & 8
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one (KJV).
      1. Some English versions have a shorter rendition of 1 John 5:7 and 8 than the KJV quoted above. The King James Version has words that support the Trinity that most modern versions do not have. How can this be? The reason that there are different translations of this verse is that some Greek texts contain an addition that was not original, and that addition was placed into some English versions, such as the KJV (the words added to some Greek texts are underlined in the quotation above). The note in the NIV Study Bible, which is well known for its ardent belief in the Trinity, says, “The addition is not found in any Greek manuscript or NT translation prior to the 16th century.”
Most modern versions are translated from Greek texts without the addition. We will quote the NIV: “For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.” We agree with the textual scholars and conclude from the evidence of the Greek texts that the statement that the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are “one” was added to the Word of God by men, and thus has no weight of truth.
There are many Trinitarian scholars who freely admit that the Greek text from which the KJV is translated was adjusted in this verse to support the Trinity. The Greek scholar A. T. Robertson, author of the unparalleled work, A Grammar of the Greek New Testament in Light of Historical Research, and the multi-volumed Word Pictures in the New Testament, writes:
At this point [1 John 5:7] the Latin Vulgate gives the words in the Textus Receptus, found in no Greek MS. save two late cursives (162 in the Vatican Library of the fifteenth century, [No.] 34 of the sixteenth century in Trinity College, Dublin). Jerome did not have it. Erasmus did not have it in his first edition, but rashly offered to insert it if a single Greek MS. had it, and 34 was produced with the insertion, as if made to order. Some Latin scribe caught up Cyprian’s exegesis and wrote it on the margin of his text, and so it got into the Vulgate and finally into the Textus Receptus by the stupidity of Erasmus.” [1]
Robertson shows how this addition entered the text. It was a marginal note. Since all texts were hand-copied, when a scribe, copying a text, accidentally left a word or sentence out of his copy, he would place it in the margin in hopes that the next scribe would copy it back into the text. Unfortunately, scribes occasionally did not make the distinction between what a previous scribe had left out of the last copy and wrote in the margin, and marginal notes that another scribe had written in the margin to help him understand the text. Therefore, some marginal notes got copied into the text as Scripture. Usually these additions are easy to spot because the “new” text will differ from all the other texts. However, there are times when people adore their theology more than the God-breathed original, and they fight for the man-made addition as if it were the original words of God. This has been the case with 1 John 5:7 and 8, and we applaud the honesty of the translators of modern versions who have left it out of their translations.
The famous textual scholar, F. F. Bruce, does not even mention the addition in his commentary on 1 John (The Epistles of John). The International Critical Commentary does not mention it either. The conservative commentator R. C. H. Lenski, in his 12 volume commentary on the New Testament, only mentions that it is proper to leave the addition out. He writes: “The R. V. [Revised Version] is right in not even noting in the margin the interpolation found in the A.V. [KJV].” Henry Alford, author of the The Greek Testament, a Greek New Testament with extensive critical notes and commentary, writes:
      …OMITTED BY ALL GREEK MANUSCRIPTS previous to the beginning of the 16th century;
      ALL the GREEK FATHERS (even when producing texts in support of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity: as e.g., by [abbreviated names of Church “fathers”] Clem Iren Hipp Dion Ath Did Bas Naz Nys Ephih Caes Chr Procl Andr Damasc (EC Thl Euthym);
      ALL THE ANCIENT VERSIONS (including the Vulgate (as it came from Jerome, see below) and (though interpolated in the modern editions, the Syriac;
AND MANY LATIN FATHERS (viz. Novat Hil Lucif Ambr Faustin Leo Jer Aug Hesych Bede) [Emphasis his]. [2]
      2. With the spurious addition gone, it is clear that there is no reference to the Trinity in 1 John 5:7 and 8. The context is speaking of believing that Jesus is the Son of God (v. 5 and 10). There are three that testify that Jesus is the Son of God: the spirit that Jesus received at his baptism, the water of his baptism and the blood that he shed.
Scripture says, “We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God which He has given about his Son” (v. 9). This verse is so true! How often people accept man’s testimony and believe what men say, but do not believe what God says. We need to accept the testimony of God that He has given about His Son, and agree with the testimony of the spirit, the water and the blood, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Jesus was/is God in the same way as Eve was Adam. He was God in nature but He is not the only true God of Jn 17:3. Eve was Adam in nature but was not the man in the garden.
Please study 1 Cor. 15:24-28 and answer the question: Who is the God of verse 28? Is that a reference to the Trinity? If you answered Yes, study it again, not because I suggest that you do, but because you need the truth to make you free (one of your favorite verses is "you shall know the truth").

This really shows the world how pathetically inept our seminaries are in teaching SDA Pastors. I suggest they start teaching students basic rules of grammar so that Pastors don't come out preaching nonsense because they are unable to follow simple rules of grammar. While they're at it they might want to throw in a class on basic mathematics. That way when they come across the word Elohim, even though it's plural, they will also recognize that it's usage is controlled by the verb in the same sentence which in this case is singular. So this word is describing a single God who is Supreme which is why Elohim is a plural of Majesty. Further proof of this is when the Hebrew is translated into Greek and they used the word Theos for this Supreme God who is one, not three. Also basic math tells us that 1+1+1=3 not 1.....Echad also means one, not three.

Please note that the "plural of majesty" theory is one of several major theories, and may not be the correct one. You are correct in saying that the Hebrew grammar indicates God is singular. There is no question about that. My understanding is that "elohim" is a _plurale tantum,_ meaning the word _only_ exists in Hebrew in plural form, just like other plurale tantum (heavens, waters, faces, lives, entrails, etc.). As you said, the verbs and adjectives will tell us whether their subject is actually plural or not. Hebrew scholars have a difficult time supporting the Trinity, just like physicists have a difficult time (mathematically) favoring the theory of naturalistic evolution--they simply know too much to adopt the error.

The others arguing in most comments on this page, The Father and The Son don’t argue about themselves and their identity 😂 . In Rev 5, there was He who sits on the throne and there was also the lamb who was slained (separate). Jesus never stopped those who addressed Him as God. About the Holy spirit, Acts 5 made us know that Ananias lied to the Holy spirit and also to God. May Yeshua help us🙏🏾

Jesus said to them do you want to stone me because I said I am the Son of God? He answered clearly, but only the Jews mistakenly thought that when he told them he was the Son of God, that it meant God, which it 100% does not. Jesus never said of himself that he is God or God the Son or the second person of God etc. Sons of God are angels many people in the scriptures and we Christians today. If Jesus was God, his entire existence on earth would be a big farce. No, he was begotten by the one God as 100% human in everything 100% relying on God like us.

      Continuation 2
      John 1.1
      2. Most Jewish readers of the Gospel of John would have been familiar with the concept of God’s “word” being with God as He worked to bring His creation into existence. There is an obvious working of God’s power in Genesis 1 as He brings His plan into concretion by speaking things into being. The Targums are well known for describing the wisdom and action of God as His “word.” This is especially important to note because the Targums are the Aramaic translations and paraphrases of the Old Testament, and Aramaic was the spoken language of many Jews at the time of Christ. Remembering that a Targum is usually a paraphrase of what the Hebrew text says, note how the following examples attribute action to the word:
And the word of the Lord was Joseph’s helper (Gen. 39:2).
And Moses brought the people to meet the word of the Lord (Ex. 19:17).
And the word of the Lord accepted the face of Job (Job 42:9).
And the word of the Lord shall laugh them to scorn (Ps. 2:4).
They believed in the name of His word (Ps. 106:12). [3]
The above examples demonstrate that the Jews were familiar with the idea of God’s Word referring to His wisdom and action. This is especially important to note because these Jews were fiercely monotheistic, and did not in any way believe in a “Triune God.” They were familiar with the idioms of their own language, and understood that the wisdom and power of God were being personified as “word.”
The Greek-speaking Jews were also familiar with God’s creative force being called “the word.” J. H. Bernard writes, “When we turn from Palestine to Alexandria [Egypt], from Hebrew sapiential [wisdom] literature to that which was written in Greek, we find this creative wisdom identified with the Divine logos, Hebraism and Hellenism thus coming into contact.” [4] One example of this is in the Apocryphal book known as the Wisdom of Solomon, which says, “O God of my fathers and Lord of mercy who hast made all things by thy word (logos), and by thy wisdom hast formed man…” (9:1). In this verse, the “word” and “wisdom” are seen as the creative force of God, but without being a “person.”
      3. The logos, that is, the plan, purpose and wisdom of God, “became flesh” (came into concretion or physical existence) in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the “image of the invisible God” (Col. 1:15) and His chief emissary, representative and agent. Because Jesus perfectly obeyed the Father, he represents everything that God could communicate about Himself in a human person. As such, Jesus could say, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father” (John 14:9). The fact that the logos “became” flesh shows that it did not exist that way before. There is no pre-existence for Jesus in this verse other than his figurative “existence” as the plan, purpose or wisdom of God for the salvation of man. The same is true with the “word” in writing. It had no literal pre-existence as a “spirit-book” somewhere in eternity past, but it came into being as God gave the revelation to people and they wrote it down.

It had no literal pre-existence as a “spirit-book” somewhere in eternity past, but it came into being as God gave the revelation to people and they wrote it down.
      4. The last phrase in the verse, which most versions translate as “and the Word was God,” should not be translated that way. The Greek language uses the word “God” (Greek = theos) to refer to the Father as well as to other authorities. These include the Devil (2 Cor. 4:4), lesser gods (1 Cor. 8:5) and men with great authority (John 10:34 and 35; Acts 12:22). At the time the New Testament was written, Greek manuscripts were written in all capital letters. The upper and lower case letters were not blended as we do today. Thus, the distinction that we today make between “God” and “god” could not be made, and the context became the judge in determining to whom “THEOS” referred.
Although context is the final arbiter, it is almost always the case in the New Testament that when “God” refers to the Father, the definite article appears in the Greek text (this article can be seen only in the Greek text, it is never translated into English). Translators are normally very sensitive to this (see John 10:33). The difference between theos with and without the article occurs in John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with “the theos,” and the Word was “theos.” Since the definite article is missing from the second occurrence of “theos” (“God,”) the usual meaning would be “god” or “divine.” The New English Bible gets the sense of this phrase by translating it, “What God was, the Word was.” James Moffatt who was a professor of Greek and New Testament Exegesis at Mansfield College in Oxford, England, and author of the well-known Moffatt Bible, translated the phrase, “the logos was divine.”
A very clear explanation of how to translate theos without the definite article can be found in Jesus As They Knew Him, by William Barclay, a professor at Trinity College in Glasgow:
In a case like this we cannot do other than go to the Greek, which is theos en ho logos. Ho is the definite article, the, and it can be seen that there is a definite article with logos, but not with theos. When in Greek two nouns are joined by the verb “to be,” and when both have the definite article, then the one is fully intended to be identified with the other; but when one of them is without the article, it becomes more an adjective than a noun, and describes rather the class or sphere to which the other belongs.
An illustration from English will make this clear. If I say, “The preacher is the man,” I use the definite article before both preacher and man, and I thereby identify the preacher with some quite definite individual man whom I have in mind. But, if I say, “The preacher is man,” I have omitted the definite article before man, and what I mean is that the preacher must be classified as a man, he is in the sphere of manhood, he is a human being.
[In the last clause of John 1:1] John has no article before theos, God. The logos, therefore, is not identified as God or with God; the word theos has become adjectival and describes the sphere to which the logos belongs. We would, therefore, have to say that this means that the logos belongs to the same sphere as God; without being identified with God, the logos has the same kind of life and being as God. Here the NEB [New English Bible] finds the perfect translation: “What God was, the Word was.” [5]

Can we nail down who God is in this sinful, fallen world or ever? We will be learning about God throughout eternity. In my mind those who are making this the primary issue, esp. at this point in history, are distracting from the work we should be doing - "In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and light-bearers. To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them is shining wonderful light from the Word of God. They have been given a work of the most solemn import,-the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels’ messages. There is no other work of so great importance. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention." Ev 119.3
