Last year I went on my first quilt bus trip. One of the “regulars” told me she always buys neutrals when she travels. So, I’ve started doing that and loving it. Thanks for this very helpful video. Stay safe and healthy everyone :-)
I, like so many, are reacquainting themselves with their sewing machine and quilting again. I really enjoyed you on HGTV and wish it would go back to some of these original shows. Mary Ellen Hopkins was also one of my favs. I love her small quilt books. Maybe you could do a show on them.
I remember when I started quilting again. And Simply Quilts was on. And you and Mary Ellen would talk a bbn out neutrals. I never got the hang of them I am a bold wild print kinda gal. I was a member years ago of The quilt show..but life got in the way. I will ho back and rejoin. You and Ricky have always been my heroes.
Thank you so much Alex. I know that theoretically I have time and plenty of fabric to quilt but my anxiety level is such I’m finding it really hard to be productive at all. Watching your video has made me think I could just pull some fabrics from my stash and audition them. I can do that, it’s OK. Hope you and yours are well and have what they need. Sending love from the UK x
What a great session Alex. I really enjoyed it. I have your book on neutrals and the quilt with the pieced blocks and appliquéd flowers is my fave. I have collected neutrals and tried to make a row quilt through my guild using only neutrals but got bored. Ergo I added color and it turned out beautifully. I really like your idea of choosing a block and making it from neutrals. Thanks for a great visit.
I've been loving neutrals for a long time and one of my favorite quilts is a neutral quilt. I wanted a really calm look and its amazing how much color it appears to have. It's just neutrals......I appreciate the tip of adding a bit of white also. It neeeeds to be in the quilt, it makes it better!!! I've watched you Alex for so many years and you have never bored me.....I always learn from you.....
Didn't know about your stream this morning until it was too late. Sorry I missed it. Thank you for posting on RUclips and for all the hard work you are doing and for the generosity of your time you are giving. I don't do facebook but will try to see if I can catch Ricky's steaming this afternoon. Sometimes non-facebook people can watching steaming and sometimes not.
I enjoyed the complimentary show. Try to fix you tube. I don't have a Facebook account. I remember her lecture on neutrals & bought at tbe time a lot of white on whites. 😊

Just found you... really enjoyed watching you, thanks for sharing. Take care x
John is a wonderful assistant!!!! He's a keeper!!!! :-)
I’ve been collecting neutrals too, but I’ve been separating them by gray, tan, white. Thank you for opening up my eyes to mixing them up more.

You are on loud and clear
You're making me so excited with your neutrals. 👍
I've always avoided white because I feared bleeding. I see now how I need to incorporate them. Thanks!
Hi from THE. NETHERLANDS
I’ve not known how to work with my neutrals. Now I feel more brave. Thanks.
