I find it weird how this movie is not presented in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen like True Lies on its original DVD release.
True Lies wasn't either.
@@homevideogallery I know and saw that.
@@blazingsoulhunter2862 Alright.
Were you thinking of the 2003 JP DVD?
@@homevideogallery Nope. Just the original 1999 letterbox DVD release of that movie. Fox should’ve had a re-release of True Lies with DTS audio and 16:9 aspect ratio just like the Die Hard trilogy back in the day. Once again, THX certified.
@@blazingsoulhunter2862 I think the reason Fox and/or James were so hesitant about it was the fact that it was about terrorism, and you know what happened in 2001 as supposedly that was the entire reason they shut down a sequel. Strange though that it got a D-VHS release, in that case.
This got the same menu as our European edition. Also same shity 4/3 master. Aaaaaaaand we don't know when Fox will release the 4KBR version of the masters that Cameron validated.
Rumor has it that 4k master will be ready for release in early 2023. I heard about him finishing the whole project at the end of last year as well, so I would think it would be ready sometime around that time at least.
@@homevideogallery So maybe we are lucky and got it at the same time as you in the US, maybe we are not, aaaaaand we'll got it in mid 2023.
@@haurudvdarchive It seems so.
Oh boy you would be so disappointed
We got the 4K releases. Turns out simply getting the original DVD releases are a better choice because the quality of the 4K releases looked to be upscaled, but not in a good way it seems
The Abyss (1989) is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray next year.
Yeah. So are True Lies and Aliens. And supposedly, T2 is getting a brand new re-restoration in 4k. I already know.
@@homevideogallery Also, The Abyss (1989) is coming to theaters on December 6, 2023 for one night only.
Waste of time this is
It's better to have this than to get the 4K release on Blu-Ray, ironically enough.
