I discovered that I don't like leather watch straps - but I'd say that leather sample looks very good, so I think you will be able to make very good black leather straps.
It's an exceptionally handsome watch. It's a shame about the crown. Thanks for the jazz music at 8:25; I am a huge fan of jazz. Solid review. Liked & subscribed!
More or less I like all watches of their collection. Praesidus offers so many cool field and military watches. Black leather straps are ok, I have some.
For the same sort of money you could buy a Timor Dirty Dozen reissue which is beautifully made and finished - or for a lower budget I have the MWC ATP watch which is actually surprisingly good esp for the price
Totally agree...I have the M100 and it is really superb....but like you said, the 36mm is on my grail list and when I have it, my son can have the larger one.
I like the dial layout and the colour, but beyond that I feel that everything leaves something to be desired or even some concern with finishing and precision. In honesty, except perhaps for the brand of movement, I would have expected this watch foe around half the price just from how it presents. With regards to the straps, I didnt realise you had no black. It just seens to make sense and the leather looks good quality. That said, black is probably the nost common colour that I find shipped with a watch and though many aren't great quality, it reduces my motivation to shell put for another black strap. When relocating to Europe I hope to experience your products at some point, but it may be cognac or chocolate sooner than black.
I have the Rec Spec model and its a great watch, with a fair price for the specs. This range is also beautiful, BUT you put the word Swiss anywhere on a watch and the price TRIPLES! for $875 Nope this one is for the collectors or the faithful way over priced If you are looking for a retro piece the Bulova A15 is a good choice and fairly priced.
It looks great though for the price they should have used a better movement. 2824's and their clones are not good movements, just ask anyone who ever tried to handwind one regularly. It also has a dismal power reserve. Should be a La Joux Perret G100 or SW-300 in there. Even a Miyota would be better. Its also oddly thick, I have a Damasko with an ETA 2824 and its under 10mm thick with 200m of WR. So I know it can be done and I don't know why this is so thick.
Hey there, Oscar Chabrat here - the Brand Director for Praesidus Watch Co. To answer you question about thickness - it's mostly linked to the double domed sapphire crystal and the interaction between the very high indexes and the minute hand that extends above the indexes. This forces us to put the hands higher above the dial to avoid crashing into the indexes - thus increasing the thickness slightly once again. :) Hope that clears it up for you! Best Regards, Oscar Chabrat, Praesidus Watch Co.
Hello, and thanks for this video. Pilot watches are part of History, and especially the "dirty dozen" ones. Even if they have been mostly used after than during WWII. One of the brands that were part of this dozen still produce now this model : Vertex. So why buy this imitation when you can buy the original ?
The Vertex is almost 4X the price of this and good luck getting that money back if you try to sell it. Unless you absolutely have to have an OG Dirty Dozen watch from an original manufacturer then I don't see the point.
@@Nefville I'll never buy a Vertex, not because of the price range, but because even if I like the "Dirty Dozen" story telling, I'm not into that kind of watches. But I'll never buy this homage, nor any homage watch from any famous model. Because there are so many brands which are working hard and good to create watches that I do not see the point to buy homage's watches.
@@Christophe-k8s I hear that. That's the good thing about this hobby, there's tons of options. I want to like this one but that price is just way more than I would pay for a homage.
For $875 plus import fees (uk) I would expect much better crown finish and action, and a quiet movement, was interested before, but think I will give it a miss and stick with my Baltany
Hmmm as its a watch that was made by many manufacturers I'm not precious so a cheaper one from another company would do. This is to be honest "a novelty" in the collection. "Oh you have a Dirty Dozen!" "Yes anyway moving on...look at this Hanhart/Sinn/Oris..."
I’m afraid to me this watch is a bit of a dog. There’s nothing worse than a badly finished sharp edged crown and I wish manufacturers would not include a ghost position date since this just cheapens the watch. My main design gripe is that the clips the seven which is very noticeable under lume. It’s a pity they didn’t spend a couple of hours more on making sure the five and seven were both completely visible. For me this watch is a definite no and there are better watches available at a lower price
I agree with your observations. I'm a bit confused by this brand as a whole. They are basically making overpriced homages. You can get similar homage style watches from Chinese brands like San Martin and Baltany, but because they are Chinese, they are not considered to be in the same tier. The Rec Spec really has me confused since you can still get the original Seiko model for half the price.
Hey there, Oscar Chabrat here - Brand Director for Praesidus Watch Co. Thanks for the feedback - I think there might be a few things that I can clear up regarding your concerns. As a small company, we are not necessarily able to negotiate specific movement configurations within our price & time constraints. That explains the use of a ghost date movement for our DD-45. Concerning the seven & five indexes that are cut; this is a choice of ours. We did spend a couple hours studying the original Dirty Dozen models and, as another comment has pointed out - they usually had the sub-second hand cut through both indexes; this was structurally imposed by the movement and the placement of the sub-second hand. While we could have made sure the sub-second dial wouldn't cut the indexes; that wasn't really the point of this hommage so we decided to go on a similar route as the originals. Would love to know what watches you're referring to that you find better at a lower price though! Cheers, Oscar
Hey there, Oscar Chabrat here - Brand Director for Praesidus Watch Co. Sorry you feel that way about the entire brand - funnily enough, the Rec Spec is our best-selling collection! Cheers, Oscar @@ScottNotAvailable
@@Oscar_PraesidusWC Hi Oscar, thank you for coming on here with your feedback - that is certainly great customer service. I take your point about the movement, and yours is certainly not unique to be constrained to one with a ghost date. Fair enough. Regarding the clipping, of course we have all seen dials from the 1940/50s with similar dial architecture and often much more clipping of numerals. It seemed to me that the 5 was fine, and for me personally it was a shame that the 7 didn’t escape. But as you say, you can view this historically. Price point varies enormously for time-only watches, and the fact that San Martin (just to take one example) would be able to issue a similarly specced and finished watch for €300 does not mean that you should be expected to. People will vote with their eyes, ears and wallets, however.
The "5" numeral does look to be truncated but it's not as noticeable because it's on the back slope of the number. I think slightly larger and bolder numbers would have meant more clipping but also works aesthetically.
An informative and honest review, Tim. Really appreciate your candour! Nice looking watch, but I would prefer it in 34mm.
Ah ... spot the man bits at the 12 o'clock! It looks alomost as legible a a Flieger. It looks lovely on your strap.
Depending on the dial and case, I choose different textures and color combinations of straps Tim. So, yes, I welcome Caseback 3 straps in black!!
Thanks Tim! Great to see watches not covered elsewhere.
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
I would very much like a black strap! I've yet to buy one since I've been waiting until a black strap came out.

Could Praesidius do this watch with a hand wound movement?
love to see a black strap version!

Glad to get comments started from here in North Carolina. Have a nice weekend Tim.
Nice basic watch!
Thanks, nice weekend to you guys over there!
what do you think about the TUUL watches?
I will check them out, thanks for the hint. Never heard that name before.
Great video as always. But the size is correct, this dirty dozen watches were between 36 and 38 and also the shorter laugh to lug is accurate.
Thanks for the review Tim. I prefer the Vaer A12 Dirty Dozen watch that I own better. I think a black strap made by you would be excellent.
Very nice video. I'll wait for Longines, IWC or Omega to re-issue their version.

The modern DD began and ended with the Vertex M100, the only possible improvement for the modern DD is a 36mm variant which I’m told is coming soon
Totally agree...I have the M100 and it is really superb....but like you said, the 36mm is on my grail list and when I have it, my son can have the larger one.
You're comparing a roughly ( Aud ) $4000 vertex to a $1300 Praesidus... might as well compare a Toyota to a Ferrari
@@AusTactical I’m comparing 2 dirty dozen watches and saying save up for the daddy. But hey sorry I triggered you

By all means make the black strap...but first...GIVE US THE GREEN STRAP TIM!! LOL, thank you as always. Best, D
Brown tone watch straps would be my preference, as opposed to the black.👍

I like black straps on gold watches .
Nice design (not original) but far too expensive. Would you except this low quality from a Chinese watch (it would cost 120-200 usd in that case)?
