I have no idea why anyone would have thought this was a good idea, but am so glad they did! No matter how many times I watch it, I am never truly prepared...
I remember when this came out. I loved this song & the video was awesome. Kudos to the video makers! I also remember thinking two things, and I still do: That Tom Hanks & Dan Ackroyd can rap & they worked really hard in this video! Memorizing all those dance moves, kudos guys!
Dan aykroyd and Tom hanks rappin Tom hanks hanks has really come a long way from this he’s been in dozens of great movies and has become one f the most successful actors
CRITICS be Damned! I REALLY LIKED this movie! I remember this rap song from the end credits - but NEVER saw this VIDEO! I think Rick James may be playing guitar and singiing in this video.
This gives a whole new perspective on "Bosom Buddies". Hanks and Akroyd would have been a much better pair up than Hanks with Scolari for that show - the early debut of Hanks and his early acting chops albeit as comedic as it was. ;->
FIRST TIME I've seen this video and I've seen the movie a bunch of times since it came out in 87. Can't believe Aykroyd and Hanks agreed to this...then again, it was the 80s! LOL
I'm not sure it's fair to call this "bad." It's meant to be funny and silly, not bad-ass. It achieves its goal. Also, why does the movement look kind of weird on this? Was it shot on videotape?
I remember watching a "making of" show on this video, and Aykroyd was saying how surprised & impressed he was with Hanks' dancing, he was hanging with one of the Blues Brothers step for step
59 people don't know what it's like to live in a time when it was possible to do silly and unusual things with a straight face. I'm continually shocked that so many people look at something like this and think they were intentionally trying to create something hard. America has lost its sense of whimsy, of experimentation, of fusion, of play.
Wow a *whole* 59 people?? I can't even imagine such an unquantifiable number 🤯 I guess that only means the entire country as a whole must all think alike with no deviation of thought!
I know Aykroyd danced around with Belushi, but he honestly looks like a much more natural and limber dancer than Hanks. This brings back some crazy memories, for sure. "Every man has a dream. Frank's was that goat farm." Underrated goofy classic
Hot Tom Hanks dancing in a cage at 3:15 + all along : dancing and rapping like a Beastie Boy. Well. That's good quality entertainment. Thank you youtube.
Just rewatched this brilliant Movie on Netflix and my god it’s still damn good!! When hanks keeps threatening to smash Muzz’s balls in the desk drawer is American comedy at its best 😆
I'm watching it now on it's last day before it cycles out of rotation. My favorites never seem to stay long enough. Gotta love the moment when the fighter jet pulls up next to the Reverend Whirly's private plane and Joe takes his flight mask off to the infamous 'Duuun, da DUN, dun!'
Man, nothing like the timeless classics....back in the days when MTV actually played music videos, and Tom Hanks was still known as a comedian....makes me feel old, realizing that THIS is now a timeless classic. I was just sixteen then...
Me too. My BFF and I loved this song so much we had it memorized and would recite it... often. I was always Tom, of course. So much fun!! Ppl thought we were crazy. We were. And still are. LOL
I had that Excuse me, excuse me, don't use, abuse or refuse me part randomly pop into my head and had no idea where it came from, so glad I found this to solve that mystery lol
I never get tired of watching this. It was great when it was on MTV.
It was great when music was on MTV.
this sucked and it still sucks
I have no idea why anyone would have thought this was a good idea, but am so glad they did! No matter how many times I watch it, I am never truly prepared...
Not a good idea?
It’s hilarious
It was a promo for a 1980s comedy movie, it's supposed to be ridiculous.
Pure class all of it
this sucked and it still sucks
Wow. This was crazy even for 87.
I remember when this came out. I loved this song & the video was awesome. Kudos to the video makers! I also remember thinking two things, and I still do: That Tom Hanks & Dan Ackroyd can rap & they worked really hard in this video! Memorizing all those dance moves, kudos guys!
this sucked and it still sucks
Dan Ackroyd showing off some of his Elwood Blues moves.
Tom Hanks could be a beastie boy
No.
No we know why Chet thought he could rap
City of Crime VS Sabotage music video...
That's the great Glenn Hughes laying the vocals down in the chorus!
and Pat Thrall on guitars.
yes it is. This was right after we finished the Hughes Thrall album
@@gboat1 "we"?

GLENN HUGHES (Deep Purple) singing WITH PHENOMENA!
GREAT!
Dan aykroyd and Tom hanks rappin Tom hanks hanks has really come a long way from this he’s been in dozens of great movies and has become one f the most successful actors
I have the soundtrack to this and this was great back in the 1987 good times when things were simple and fun! Now everything sucks now!
Rest well Peter Aykroyd. Thank you for this awesome tune!!
CRITICS be Damned! I REALLY LIKED this movie! I remember this rap song from the end credits - but NEVER saw this VIDEO! I think Rick James may be playing guitar and singiing in this video.
Tom Hanks' style of singing in this video reminds me of the Beastie Boys.
This gives a whole new perspective on "Bosom Buddies". Hanks and Akroyd would have been a much better pair up than Hanks with Scolari for that show - the early debut of Hanks and his early acting chops albeit as comedic as it was. ;->
Omg this is amazing, Tom Hanks was workin it in the cage at the end !!!
Tom Hanks and Kevin Pollak's Chat Show brought me here!
Isn't it awesome that this is the same video Chet showed his dad. xD
I'm so so so happy that Tom brought up his first RUclips experience on Conan's podcast. This is...amazing?
This is as 80's as I remember it being. Goddamnit, Hollywood. Goddamnit.
Awesome... just awesome..
Das ist ziehmlich cool Hanks & Aykroyd:)
Omg. I love this. I thought the movie was outstanding. And I never got in2 the original series.
I saw this on MTV in June of '87, right after the George Michael video "I Want Your Sex". Love it, and those dancers are awesome!
The countdown with Kurt Loader? ...
Hell yeah! They're right up there with Dre and Snoop. Yeah, that's right.
Great video I love it
FIRST TIME I've seen this video and I've seen the movie a bunch of times since it came out in 87. Can't believe Aykroyd and Hanks agreed to this...then again, it was the 80s! LOL
WHOA LOL I REALLY NEEDED THAT giggle thanks Alyssa
The movie Dragnet from 1987 sent me here...
I WANT THIS SONG IN ROCK BAND NOW
Because yes
Just remember this if anyone ever tries to tell you that people did more drugs in the 60s than in the 80s
some of the best "good bad" ever
Keep in mind, Tom Hanks also did Cast Away
The time counters says the video is 3 minutes long but really it feels more like 30 minutes when you're watching it.
I want to be arrested there!!! This is just insanely nuts and hilarious.
RIP Peter Aykroyd.
This is just as good as the hip-hop that's out now..
Glenn Hughes on lead vocals!
@baldiloxbaldilox indeed.. Glenn Hughes is marvelous!
He should get more recognizion for this!
Another Babble-teer here! This is quite amusing :P
There really is nothing that can't be found on RUclips, is there?
A rap song made in the '80's and it's damn better than any song made today.
И до сих пор
Just because one chucklehead calls Tom Hanks the next Bill Murray we had to be subjected to this :(
I saw this in the theater when it came out. Damn I'm old.....I want to see Tom Hanks rap his part as Forrest Gump.
Arrived here because of Glenn Hughes
Thanks for bringing my childhood memories!! I was only 13 years when I first saw this videon on MTV back in the summer of '87.
@MooseOnDrums Thank you for that typo.
I wonder what kind of stuff goes down in thia city... Crime maybe?
i'm imagining them as sollux and terezi
I'm not sure it's fair to call this "bad." It's meant to be funny and silly, not bad-ass. It achieves its goal.
Also, why does the movement look kind of weird on this? Was it shot on videotape?
This is where Chet gets it from!
🤣🤣🤣
So this is how Chet Hanks got started, thanks Tom 🤦🏻♂️
Firday as Bad Cop and Streebek as Good Cop.
Everything he does is better what than his son can do.
Did anyone notice that they spelled Aykroyd's name wrong in the beginning credits?!?
@bokuwahmz haha me too. Alyssssaa :)
they should take back one of hanks' oscars for this... jeeez
Yeah. What's he thinking...having fun...that's not allowed.
D. Doyle Reynolds lol yeah he did not do this for a paycheck... nooo waaaay
maybe he had fun but this still is really really really bad
***** if this is humor I'd be glad do have no sense of it. if this makes you laugh u might as well think chelsea handler is funny
Tom hanks should get another oscar for this
I think when Tom made enough money. he destroyed every copy of this song in existence, minus the movie. Too bad there's RUclips.
This is Classic Hilarious!!! ❤️💯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Ah, the 1980's. If you weren't there, you could never understand the magic.
TRUE!!
Cocaine?
If it was truly as "magical" as you state it was, then I'm estatic I was never part of that overrated AF decade y'all proporting.
How did I miss this all those years ago? It's like discovering a new pocket in an old jacket.
Because Jesus Christ loved you. This is just awful.
It must feel even stranger now. If it felt off 13 years ago.
@@matthewb9621Well, I'd forgotten about the video and making that comment...
The internet never forgets.
Life is just a little bit less shitty knowing this exists.
Still shitty?
Fun fact: Siskel and Ebert both gave Dragnet a "Two Thumbs Up!"
Well, one thumb each.
That's surprising.
Up what?🤣
Wow! I didn't know Paula Abdul choreographed this! The choreography is so Paula.
I was watching recent The Graham Norton Show from last night and Tom was on and he mentioned this! He even sang the opening verse!
+James Donnelly He was right.. it is awful! lol
+Casanova Dude I only remember it being on the end credits I had no idea there was a music video to go with it!
+James Donnelly That is exactly why I am here.. haha
+James Donnelly I prefer it when he's not singing like in the video for 'I really like you'. lol
I saw it tonight...
I remember watching a "making of" show on this video, and Aykroyd was saying how surprised & impressed he was with Hanks' dancing, he was hanging with one of the Blues Brothers step for step
Aykroyd saw a bit of Belushi in Hanks. 😊
Hanks and Aykroyd should've done more movies together.
Doug Glassman they should've rapped more raps together.
True
Might be a bit difficult to work when Hanks turns up to the studio with an underage girl hanging off his knob.
BoneToner what? 🤨
Agreed!
My life is complete. I have seen Tom Hanks rap.
59 people don't know what it's like to live in a time when it was possible to do silly and unusual things with a straight face. I'm continually shocked that so many people look at something like this and think they were intentionally trying to create something hard. America has lost its sense of whimsy, of experimentation, of fusion, of play.
How completely accurate and truly sad. Dragnet was one of many cheesy silly masterpieces from the decade of fabulousness,, the 1980's
Wow a *whole* 59 people?? I can't even imagine such an unquantifiable number 🤯
I guess that only means the entire country as a whole must all think alike with no deviation of thought!
can't say it doesn't go hard to be fair
I Remember Watching This When It Debuted On HBO On A Friday Night.
When The Movie Was Over The Music Video Was Shown.
Pure Vintage 80's!
Thanks to Tom Hanks mentioning this on Graham Norton Show. I'd have never seen it otherwise. Great viewing!!
+ILaughAtYoda I just saw that episode on BBC One a few minutes ago, here in the US via Hola.
Same reason I'm watching it now 😂
Lol talking about how his kids tease him about it 🤣
Tom Hanks would win two Academy Awards in a row less than ten years later. People who saw it coming = Zero.
Philadelphia and Forrest Gump?
@@GodsMadeMan Yep
He raps better than his son
Conan O'Brien needs a friend brought me here.
Me too
Welcome to the party
Seeing Dragnet when it first came out brought me here. The Art of Noise intro is much better. This is the credit music.
Booo...idk even who tf that is I'm just cool and remembered it
Wow. That's interesting.
This is honestly the best thing I have ever seen
You ain't seen much have ya kid.
@@Nicks_Pix and you have? things are relative, subjective. so shut your mouth
Do you remember when films were just pure fun? Pepperidge Farm remembers…
Tom Hank's told me to look up this video in his Kevin Pollak interview and I was not disappointed.
+Joey Lock same lol
Aykroyd is a surprisingly good dancer.
Bravo, Dave B.
because you uploaded this video on to RUclips, Tom Hanks' kids were able to torture him with it.
Dude, this video is pure art.
Completely fantastic! Jesus God I miss the '80's.
I miss the eighties !!! everything was cool back then !!
Yeah, thats what cocaine made everyone think.
This was never cool
Cool and Rad!
Anyone else here from the Conan podcast 👏👏👏
Me!!!
Right here!!!! :D
Yeah
Two time oscar winner Tom Hanks everyone!
I don't know what this is but I really shouldn't have watched it on acid.
😂
That sounds like a horribly amazing thing to do!
who's watching this awesome video in 2019?
✋
I know Aykroyd danced around with Belushi, but he honestly looks like a much more natural and limber dancer than Hanks. This brings back some crazy memories, for sure.
"Every man has a dream. Frank's was that goat farm." Underrated goofy classic
This might be...the greatest thing...I've ever seen.
You poor thing...
CatAtomic99 Still better than any other rap song ever.
Glenn Hughes freakin' rocks. The greatest voice in rock.
Ackroyd has a little Elwood Blues going on at about 1:30...love it!
I thought the same
I hope this video never goes away!!!
Hot Tom Hanks dancing in a cage at 3:15 + all along : dancing and rapping like a Beastie Boy. Well. That's good quality entertainment. Thank you youtube.
im 99% sure Dan Akroyd is behind this!.....how does Tom Hanks not get reminded of this more often?...

Well excuuuse me Copper , Mr. Crime Solver ! 😂

Now that's some choreography! And the boys slayed it yo!
Paula Abdul on the choreography here. This was after she worked with Janet Jackson.

I remember watching this video on MTV and Nickelodeon back in 1987 when I was 6 years old. To this day I still love it. Especially the women.
One of the females was Solid Gold Dancer Pam Rossi. She mentioned it in an hour long interview that is on RUclips
