I bought a canam x3 xrs side by side in July of 2020 it was a good idea at the time I thought, spent thousands on accessories but I really don't have a place to ride it near by, other than a couple quick rides around the block I took it on a stone road next to railroad tracks put on about 40 miles and sliced a tire it cost $190 for a new one that was the last time I drove it! Never got it muddy ! I wish I would have known about the BMW XR 1000 at the time , I paid 30k for the canam plus a few thousand in extras. A locl BMW dealer has a 2021 xr 1000 with sport package ice grey , price reduced to $20655. I going to trade the canam hopefully I don't get beat up to bad on the trade. It's never been in the mud and got less than 100 miles !! At least I won't have to search for places to ride it and spend 8 hours cleaning it at the end of the day!!

I love this video, but I love the area even more. Where did you film this? I have a Triumph and I love it. I rode a BMW; I won’t say anything because I don’t want my Triumph to get jealous. Ha!
Well you kind of already wrote it but it is really visible that I lacks torque down low in the lower RPMs. Once you reach the rev-range where you got all the power you suddenly have to cut the power again because it becomes way too fast. I think a different engine tuning would make it even better. Would you say the XR is much better than the R1250RS? I the video you said It could be "the one" bike for you, but it was before you rode the new XR.. :)
it's only better in the handling and suspension department. But as you were saying the XR lacks low-rev grunt. Which makes riding in the mountains a bit less enjoyable for sure. But then the RS is not exactly agile. So I guess in the end there's a reason why you see so many Gses in the Alps ;)
@schaaf Excellent video. Thanks. I also watched your similar video of the Multistrada 1260 S. Please give a bit more commentary on the difference you see between the Multi and the XR. Your caption appears to give the slight nod to the new XR. I rode the 2018 XR through the Alps two summers ago and was supposed to be riding through the Pyrenees right now on the new one, but the world closed. We rescheduled for next June. Our small group of hooligans charters a private tour through Edelweiss where some of us choose the XR, some the Multi, and one the GS. BTW, we chose the Pyrenees (9 days starting in Barcelona to the French coast and back) instead of the Alps (e.g., Dolomites) because I thought the weather and road conditions might still be sketchy in the higher passes in June. Thoughts?
June and September are the best months for the Alps. But you can always be unlucky with the weather in the mountains. The XR does everything better than the Multi. Except for low-rev-torque
@@Schaaf Thanks so much for the reply. I'm a complete hooligan - my main bike is the 2020 S1000RR - and I am generally a BMW guy anyway. I love their formula. But I wanted your perspective, especially for my friends, though one of them just got the new XR. We were apprehensive about not only the weather, but the traction of the high Alpine passes, which don't tend to even open until early-mid June. So we chose the lower and more southerly Pyrenees where the riding is supposed to be as good.
Why is it repeated all the time that it lacks torque? In Dynamic Pro, it is possible to remove the "muzzle" in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, which in Road and Dynamic modes reduces torque to maintain traction. Everyone tests the bike, but nobody uses the Dynamic Pro mode and will complain what a bad bike it is. Please read the owner's manual it is a motorcycle with advanced electronics.

Thats some really nice sound!
Thanks Diego
Ui fein, da Entzug wor scho merkbar😁
Hehehehe
Good video and it must be good to have the roads quite
Thanks
What was suspension trying to tell ya at 04:58 ? :-D
Avoid potholes ;)
Every bike has to look slow to your ridding style? what a scenario! tunnel moment was 🔝 waiting to the T7 and you test and thoughts
online NOW!
Awesome vid as usual. Plz, can u also ride the SuperDuke GT. Would love to see that in action as well.
I can't choose the bikes I get to ride, sorry
Close call at 5:00?
Great video as always!
Nah, all good! Thanks!
Schaaf once again on a psycho death machine haha.
;)
Servus,
Deaktiviert! Viel Spaß!
@@Schaaf danke dir👍 hast dann du dann in der post production einen Stabilisierung drauf gelegt?
Hi Schaaf may I know the location of this ride?? Great riding by the way
Timmelsjoch pass on the Austria-Italy border
Timmelsjoch pass on the Austria-Italy border
If you could choose any bike to travel 300 kms to get to this road and have this much fun - would it still be the XR ?
Yes
Why is it repeated all the time that it lacks torque? In Dynamic Pro, it is possible to remove the "muzzle" in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, which in Road and Dynamic modes reduces torque to maintain traction. Everyone tests the bike, but nobody uses the Dynamic Pro mode and will complain what a bad bike it is. Please read the owner's manual it is a motorcycle with advanced electronics.
I tried 4 different Euro-5 XRs so far. Three with Dynamic PRO. Still zero torque available down low compared to its inline 4 competitors.
@@Schaaf Thank you for the answer, I think you have a lot of experience, you have tested more bikes than me and you know what you say. As always, I liked the great test very much, thank you for the emotions you convey this way, you drive perfectly. All the best. Greetings
that sound wohoo!!!
Weeeee
Awesome sound.
Thanks man
