    Do you agree that NVIDIA should give more memory to all RTX 40 cards?

    • @pf100andahalf

      They're going to have to increase vram. My next gpu will have a minimum of 16gb of vram and I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way.

    • @treyquattro
      @treyquattro Год назад +2

      absolutely. The 4070Ti should have 16GB at least (same price, or $50 less!), and that's true all the way down. Everything except the 4090 should have at least 4GB extra. There are game devs already calling for cards with 32GB.

    128 bit bus can accomodate only 4 vram chips (128 bit = 32 x 4 vram chips at 2GB). How are they going to do a 4060 16GB? Unless they produce a different 4060 GPU with 256 bit bus.
    But I don't care anymore; I bought a 7900 XT a week ago and it is a blast!

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  Год назад

      They would not redesign the GPU for that. Just the PCB. Doing double-sided VRAM to double the existing capacity on 128-bit bus is always an option.
      Congrats on your purchase! I am glad that 7900 XT serves you well🙂

  • @chlorobyte_projects
    @chlorobyte_projects Год назад

    The process of creating a new CPU or a GPU takes years. The cards might have been already planned out before the 8gb concerns even showed up. That might be why we're suddenly getting a 16gb, as it's easier to just double the VRAM on the 128-bit bus.

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  Год назад

      All quiet for now. AMD can't compete with RTX 4090. So, NVIDIA is in no rush to release 4090 Ti. Good news is that AMD's inability to compete actually increases the possibility of TITAN being released.

    8 gb is still enough for 1440p and 1080p on optimized games, atomic heart, jedi survivor actually doesn't use that much vram but it buffers more than it needs, god of war 2018,spiderman, forza horizon 5, etc, there are plenty of games which can look amazing with "only" 8 gbs of vram..

    • @Kirnale
      @Kirnale Год назад +2

      Well, people back then said the same about the 1060. 3 GB of VRAM is more than enough apparently. Has been proven incredibly wrong. Same will be the same about 8 GB of VRAM. Just to tell you something: My 7 years old 1070 has 8 gb of VRAM. I expect that in 7 years of time that the vram should at least increase by 50%, especially since people has started to move towards 2k and 4k.
      Also, it is incredibly stupid to pay 500+€ for a GPU that last only for one or two years. If I pay that much I expect it to last at least 4 years aka 2 generations of GPU. And to think that an 7 years old GPU can equalize in VRAM to an 2023 GPU that costs that much is even crazier. I see ZERO reasons to protect Nvidia from critisms.

      @laszlozsurka8991 Год назад +1

      @@theivadim The difference between the 4060 Ti and 4070 will be a very small margin and with the 16 GB of VRAM the 4060 Ti will even outperform the 4070 due to the 4070 having only 12 GB at more VRAM taxing games. I don't think people will buy the 4070 when the 4060 Ti will have 16 GB.
      As for memory bus the 4060 Ti will probably receive a 256-bit bus since 192 bit won't support 16 GB therefore the 4060 Ti 16 GB will be even better than the 4070 thanks to the higher memory bandwith.

    It is crazy that they add ram to one of the slowest products but not the one that couls genuinely benefit from it. A 4070 ti would be so good with 24gb of alightly faster vram. Nvidia could easily add $150. Nvidia wont do it though because that would make that card viable for too long. Planned obsolescence. 😊

      It seems that the only option NVIDIA has is to offer the 4060 Ti 8GB with a truly competitive price tag. This is to entice buyers who don't play the latest AAA games and just want more FPS in their current AAA games and competitive titles. However, given NVIDIA's reluctance to lower GPU prices, I expect the 4060 Ti 8GB to be yet another poorly-selling graphics card.

    Yeah... the entire mid-range 40-gen is a generational uplift disaster. Why would you really buy this card? Even if it gets 16 GB of Vram it's clear from the performance graphs that it doesn't pack enough horsepower to be an enticing buy.

      @@theivadim That's true, but I feel even "cheap" for this generation will still be too much for a product that doesn't really deliver good performance going forward. It remains to be seen- For someone upgrading from a really old card, then maybe... if the price is right. 3-400 is still quite a lot money for a lot of people in times like these and in Europe you could probably add 25% to that. You would want that card to deliver a good performance now and to last for some time. I feel Nvidia is just delivering the bare minimum and pushing DLSS3 to "make up for it".
