As a child of the 90s, I love hearing the influence of Tori Amos and Trent Reznor in Meg Myers's music. I consider Amos & Reznor two of the absolute greats and it's just brilliant to hear an artist putting her unique, powerful spin on their styles.

Sometimes it's easier to want people to hate you so you can feel in control when they do.
Her songs always seem to convey genuine emotions. Like she could be singing about any given person is feeling on any given day. It sounds realistic. Especially when you see the music videos she puts out. Again, they look like any other person's real life.
I am ACTUALLY going to spend money on this CD. That is how much I like this music.

The more I listen to MM, the more I really am starting to worry about the woman. Dark emotions produce great music, but they also sometimes produce suicides. We've all seen too much of that. Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie spells it out when she says she worried that she would have to suffer to become a great artist, while she had a very happy childhood in a stable, loving family. It turns out she has become of the greatest writers of her generation. She can write about dark things such as war and child brides without personally going through hell with every new publication.
