I am a Mesa Mk series guy since the late 90s and I use one of these as a backup to replace my original SansAmp GT2 from the mid 90s since this has two channels. That said I've never had a Mesa go down but it is still piece of mind for me. Great piece of kit.

Yes! Exactly the same use for us. Mesa has a great reputation as a whole for making solid road worthy amps but sometimes even a tube can give out. Tossing the IR-2 in a gig bag is a piece of mind along with being much easier than a second amp. Such a great product!

The point of the IR-2 is it's better when you swap out the stock IRs. I have the IR-2. The stock sounds I view as demo sounds to get you started. The stock sounds are not intended to be the end all tone.
They're passable if your rig takes a shit. Me personally, York Audio elevates this unit. It's a no brainer piece of gear.

Completely understand where you are coming from. Maybe one day just for fun we will swap them however, since it’s a backup and practice tool the stock ones do the trick for us.
