The thing is those top of the line players can "fail" and recover so fast very few people would even notice. They might feel insecure, but I guarantee very few people would ever notice and the few that did would appreciate the attempt.

I get that you're talking about the news, not the actual guitar, but the tone is very definitive instead of let's wait and see. Also, that opening statement in the lines of "it's not a Strat, it's not a Tele, therefore I don't like it and it's rubbish" is a bit silly. PRS already made a Strat, and that's the Silver Sky. The NF3 is something else. It's it's own thing, yes kinda like a strat, but not one. Different pickups, different body, different neck, different scale, different controls. And they can't just whack these pickups on a Silver Sky, because that's a signature guitar made to JM's preferences. So they made a new guitar. I'll be honest, I like strats but i think the classic strat sound is too thin, so I'm looking fwd to trying one of these. The metallic orange one... 😁

There are soooooooooooo many chorus pedals. Young players I encourage you to try all of the cheapest stuff available now. There have been sooooooo many copy’s of the same circuit since the introduction of the pedal. There’s no magic mojo in dates, dashes and made in Japan ! Just play/try what is available. People will argue 2 knobs is better than three on the same circuit with a tone knob added🤪 The hype is more cork sniffing/my stuff is more expensive and rare and you can’t have this sound without this pedal BS. Tone chasing leads to less productive music experience. I’m not doging this pedal, it sounds good and that is a fact. But seriously, don’t believe hype and spend a fortune to find your sound. I’ve played this game over 40 years I’ve gambled on some vintage gear some were wins….. most were utterly disappointing. After trying over 30 + chorus pedals I’ve stuck with my first cheap Arion chorus pedal. 4 knobs instead of 2 = more tonal options for me. Find your SOUND, not someone’s opinion on how it should sound.

I had one. It was a great guitar. Loved the fat 50s profile neck. I sold it because it didn’t have a tone knob and the original PRS SE logo in bold on the headstock was not too attractive. If it had a tone control and Paul’s signature on the headstock it would have been a keeper!!For a p90 guitar I have a Yamaha Revstar and it’s absolutely outstanding!! It’s a keeper! 👍

Payed $600 for mine. I thought a bit high, but totally worth it. Better tuning stability and headstock design than Gibson or Epiphone. Beefier, more simple bridge. I put the PRS locking tuners on it. It's perfect other than that stupid old SE logo. Only piece of gear I'd never sell.

I picked up a ce-2 about 2 months ago in a bundle of pedals. It's not the original long dash, but the model after. Was planning to sell them all off, but the CE-2 i couldn't let leave. I don't like a heavy handed chorus, and the CE-2 is just right. It does still have a slight chorus, or at least a widening effect with both knobs turned down. Hadn't tried that before, but its pretty delicious. -- For a good EP pre-amp, check out the Chase Tone Secret Preamp.

I think the I/O aspect of the stomp is undeniably great. Works well as an all in one, but is also awesome for integration into a board. If someone doesn’t want to go the multeffects route in general I get it, but if you can get adjusted to the tweaking of things it’s great at so many things.

  • @MashaT22

The answer depends on what type of guitar you’re playing, for what purpose you’re playing, the genre of music, and the other equipment you might be using. Acoustic Steel String? Nylon? Electric? Mic’ed amp or DI? Type of pickups? Size of the amps and type of speakers? Playing live or recording? You get the point. I think clean is likely more versatile for both acoustic and electric - even without pedals, the right clean amp can still deliver a variety of tones. Paired with pedals, you’re off to the races. Does a dirty amp really clean up as precisely and have the same versatility? Might depend on the amp, but probably not. It’s never going to clean up to the same degree, not even with the help of an EQ or backing the volume down. Maybe you should test this out to get a more definitive answer. Everyone should do this! I’ll happily accept any gear you no longer want after deciding it’s inferior at the conclusion of your experimentation! 😉😂

Bern playing since 1985. As much as I want (and in the past have tried) to start clean, I find I have better control over dynamics starting dirty out the gate and using the volume/tone/pickup selector to back it off if needed to get cleaner. I don't use pedals lol.

I own the SV20H - works amazingly with the Fryette PowerStation. IVE ONLY just 1 year on found the (nearly) perfect setting for my Hendrix tone guitar playing. Dialling in the right tone takes time with this amp! This amp with 2x12 greenbacks = vintage plexi tone - I love it! The Fryette allows me to play this at bedroom / TV volume. You must pair it with a reactive load attenuator for low volume at home playing. For live playing a Harley Benton attenuator may just do the trick- its gotta be played loud to sound good with cheaper attenuators (ironically) - shouldn't annoy your band too much.

I JUST sold mine last week. I had put a host of Mullards into it and had it like that for the last nearly 4 years, and it was going through a cab with 55hz greenbacks... was Glorious. That said, I HAD to run it only with a Freyette Power Station. even at 5watt is is TOO loud at home to crank. With the Power Station 100% cranked ALL THE TIME. I ONLY sold it to get an amplified nation... but I am already missing that Plexi sound. The downside with the SV20H was no master volume... i will say that when I took the Mullards out to revert to stock tubes... man what a difference. Mullards ALL THE WAY

Y'all know that the TM Super-Reverb does in fact have the same exact speakers as the tube version-- right? Being a long-time tube amp player, at first I dismissed the Tone Master line... then I played a Blonde Deluxe with the Celestion "Neo" speaker; loved it! Not exactly the same, but close enough that when I'm playing my mind is not focused on the amp being digital-- I'm simply enjoying the sound that's coming from it. That amp set me down a course looking for a TM Super-Reverb, which is how I found your channel ;) The tube version of the Super is one of my all-time favorite amps, but not something that's at all practical for me (not to mention my very bad back...). Then I discover there's a Super in the Tone Master line-- 1) Light weight, 2) Power attenuator, 3) XLR/IR, 4) Sounds great, 5) Same speakers as the tube version-- and only 36-lbs! Those are the features that will enable me to own-- and use-- a Super Reverb. So yeah, I totally understand the value of the Tone Master line. Regarding pedals into the TM, check out the videos Dave Simpson has done; that guy makes these amps sound fantastic ;) Anyway-- enjoyed your video!

@@tonebros6533 We spent 4 great days there. My wife said the highlight was seeing Guthrie, going to the Ryman and going to the Jack Daniels tour. I am reviewing the video that I took at the Underdog. It came out great!

    1) kemper is making a mistake 2) modelers are great for us who don’t have the budget for tube amps. The death of modelers would sucks for many many guitarists.

You’re right Dylan. We understand that modelers are great for players in many cases. We need to do an episode explaining our stance on this subject better.

Stage, Rack and Head all have free updates. Only Player has two paid updates that expand this small box into an almost full-fledged Kemper. This was known when it was launched. So a lot of talk about something that has been known for a long time.

I've got an NF3 for review arriving today. The reason I asked for that vs a silver sky is because I'm not the biggest fan of a traditional strat single coil sound but I like the overall feel and aesthetics of these PRS "strat" guitars. The NF3 delivers the aesthetics (that orange paint job model looks killer but unfortunately wasn't the one I was sent) along with a noiseless and beefier sound than what you'd get from a strat or silver sky without straying too much further from the traditional formula. I've been told by a few people who have them that the pickups sound like noiseless P90's. I think for the player who likes the look and feel of a strat but wants just a slight twist on the look/sound, the NF3 is the answer.

That makes sense. The thought of it sounding closer to a noiseless P90 is intriguing for sure!
