Funny this. The 20th Inf Battalion FCA was the original City of Dublin Bn, which then became 62 Inf Bn RDF. In 2013 with the introduction Single Force Concept this became the reserve component of the 7th Bn. The 20th Bn FCA was formed from the old Dublin Local Defence Force Battalions hence each company had its own company flash. Apparently, they came up with the 7th by adding 2nd Bn to 5th Bn on amalgamation of the two units. The 7th Bn FCA became the 65th Bn. Under Single Force Concept, the 65th was amalgamated into the 7th.

The Defence Forces are top class and top trained soldiers it’s a pity they don’t have a top Salary and a top Defence Forces budget. Never slate the soldiers slate the government for lack of funding!! When the shit hits the fan which it will never blame the Irish soldiers blame the Irish government for the poor funding of the DF.

the 4th battalion was the inheritors of the munster fusiliers. thats why they disbanded the regiment.
Soldiers refresher training courses are necessary for them to familiarize and a reminder.
