I bought a couple of those years ago. If you point them at a tree with the motion on it looks like the lights are twinkling when they reflect off the leaves and branches especially when the wind blows. It looks awesome.
The first time I ever saw one of these was in a campground. Someone had one pointed at the tree canopy. Magical. On a house, not magical; more like commercial. I wonder if the green on trees would confuse the fireflies around here. We have both green and yellow varieties and the green ones like the treetops.
And here I was thinking I had accidentally found an awesome life hack that was actually good! Sounds like other people figured it out as well! Great minds and all that!! Lol
I just bought one of these on the Bulbhead website. They do offer a stand on the Ultra 9, but now they don't throw it in for free. You have to pay an extra $10 for the stand. Ditto for the optional remote control - an extra $10. So if you forego the stand and the remote you can get it for $29.99. By the time they add the $7.99 shipping and tax, you're paying about $40. Thanks for the review. I'm waiting for my order and now I can look forward to a quality product, thanks to you.
I love your reviews. I value honesty right below my wife. Obviously she's honest or I wouldn't be with her but I digress. Please keep doing what you're doing. We need more honesty in this world. Hard to find
I bought the 2016 model...in 2016...but didn't pull it out until this year. Also bought the Ultra 9 model after watching your review. These really do make trees and bushes "pop." FYI for anyone who has seen both the Star Shower and Star Shower Slideshow commercials, you really do have to purchase multiple units to recreate what's being shown in the commercials. I know Bulb Head markets these as "covering 3,000 square feet!" but that's actually not a lot of space outdoors.
The button placement is better on the new one if you live where it rains or snows. Having it on top could be problematic if it ices over. The new placement has a little overhang to help protect that button.
I bought one a few yrs back, still have it but really don't use it unless my grandkids are here during the holidays. Thank you as always for the review 🙂
I literally was expecting to see some sort of a shower head.. However I like the product it beats having to put up and take down Christmas lights, in the future they should consider making it solar powered
I have been watching James since product 4 I watch every new video and he is the best honest reviewer there has ever been keep it up I don't buy it till James reviews it.
It's cool seeing a little shout out about longevity. I will say your channel has been my go-to for product reviews since discovering it. (I actually bought my Granite Rock/Stone pan set based on your reviews and also convinced my mother to try them as well and she's CRAZY picky on her cookware). I don't know if there's a way to see how long someone has been subbed to a channel, but if I haven't been around since the last Star Shower review or longer, at the very least I watched it while going back through videos prior to me finding the channel.
Thanks for vid! I've been using a couple of the older models for a few years, I put lights up on the house and use the lasers pointed at the trees above the house to create a magical background or point them down from the roof onto the lawn and sidewalk to spread the christmas feels beyond my yard. I just picked up a couple new ones. Thanks again for expanding my christmas addiction.
I would have killed for one of those back in the 70s and 80s. Projecting that on the wall and ceiling while listening to Echoes by Pink Floyd, along with other music, would have really enhanced our 'experiences' back then! 😎
Yup! I just do t have the energy or grip strength to wrap the lights around the railing this year. Just got one for twenty bucks at Walmart. Ordering another for the balcony
I haven't been here for as long, just a couple years, but ever since, I've been watching every single video, and I never get tired of them either. I usually don't comment but I'm early for once so I thought I'd share
Love the OG videos James definitely would love you to go back and review old videos or to do you OG style intro when you were over the top about the item I love those.
I have listened to you complain about the short cord on the star shower products but even if it was a 6-ft cord it would not be long enough. You'd still need an extension cord. So for that reason I see no problem with it only being a very short cord in all these cases. Just wanted to let you know about that. I have not seen the video of the Star shower 9 and I am hoping that it is as good as the last star shower in the mix. If so I will be purchase you. Thank you for your great videos. I am also Las Vegas resident and have been for 50 years. Thank you for doing a great job for Las Vegas.
i remember when these things came out, they were popular where i live till people started stealing them. i was expecting that starry night thing you put in your bedroom
I kind of like them but I doubt that my neighbors would. Happy Thanksgiving James to all your family and friends. I wasn't with you in 2016 didn't even know you existed. Now I never miss a video of yours. Enjoy your holiday. 🦃🦃🍗🍗🥂🥂🥳🥳🤗🤗
Just a helpful hint for anyone who thinks that just one of these will cover an entire house with " dazzling effect " I have a normal size split entry home and to get the effect you see on TV you have to use more than one, I have 7 of them shining on the front of the house approximately 10 feet from the house and the result is spectacular! So be prepared to purchase more than just one.
The only time on the internet 12" will be "way too short." 😂 Also, we have a chihuahua that is TERRIFIED of these things. I bought a version at WalMart a few years ago to use inside. Little guy bolts from the room when I turn it on. I've never been able to use it. I've also been with you for quite a long time. Your videos, and ease on camera has gotten better over time. I love your content. ❤
I am new here. 😁 Jumped on your Star Shower review when I saw it. I love lights! Christmas or otherwise. I live in a two story house and really want to cover my house with lights but...I am just too darn old anymore to be climbing to the second story and trying to hang lights and my roommate is afraid of heights. Not too impressed with the Star Shower. It's a shame it isn't more random instead of the pattern it makes. I'd like it better if it swirled around instead of making that darn pattern. It still might be fun though. I wish you would do a review comparing different brands. I think it would be cool indoors. My son has a more powerful laser that does basically the same thing but it's super bright (more expensive too, of course). He pointed it at a couple neighbors houses and it didn't dim. Inside it would cover a dance hall! I am here to stay. Now I need to binge your reviews. 👍👍
Been listen to you since 2018 keep it up Salute, it was close at the very end lol your Beard got more light then 2016 that tells you a lot. Other then that stay blessed happy holidays.
I have two of these and I modded one to run on USB as the adapter on the original is a standard 5v 2 amp supply, not sure of the new one. The green laser no longer works on the other one because I tried to make a green laser pointer out of it and put too much power to the actual laser part and fried it.
The motors in our star shower died last year so it was stationary halfway through December. Bought the latest version at home Depot to put up after Thanksgiving. Not sure if the ones I got are the ultra 9 but it doesn't have the round base either.
They were cool when they came out but now you can get lasers that are much smaller/compact in size that do the same or better for around the same price.
🎄Thanks for your research. Good comparison and review. Have you tried the Twinkly Gen II Christmas tree lights? I wonder how hard it is to use the app to change tree theme colors. 🤔
I see stuff like this pointed at people’s houses. Including front door and garage door. Is there not a risk of blinding lasers hitting your eyes? This seems like an insanely unsafe product.
They're just LEDs with plastic lenses. Doubt they are capable of causing harm unless the user is purposefully being stupid about it (e.g., prolonged staring into the lightbeam from close range), and maybe not even then. Calling them lasers just sounds more impressive (and in fairness, reasonably describes the intended effect).
Great review as always! I have never purchased one of those projection light devices but I'm kinda feeling it for some reason this year, lol. I live in an apartment and not sure how they would do? Thinking about placing it in the corner on my balcony but we'll see, lol.
As a pilot, also something to keep in mind is to never aim these towards airports and/or at an angle above 45° (pointing upwards). Partly why I'm not a fan of these things myself
Fortunately, they're not actually lasers; just LEDs with mediocre plastic lenses that produce rapidly scattering beams over fairly short throw distances. If they were capable of harming a pilot's vision, even temporarily, they would be far too dangerous to aim at/into a residence from close range. That said, I fully agree that thoughtful placement to avoid being a nuisance to neighbors and others is always a good courtesy to practice!
@@chadpollman7970 luckily these cheap ones are and a few other brands too, there are a few though that are actual lasers. The FAA actually put out a warning to not point those ones upwards, it's caused some issues.
The getting brighter as it warms up is actually possibly dangerous. I'm nowhere near qualified to properly explain it, but green lasers are just IR lasers with a filter. The colder they are, the more IR they blast. Our eyes do not have a blink/light reflex to IR and you can get blinded by it. Hopefully they have an IR filter but seems unlikely. Probably should see if there's someone with the equipment to check for IR coming out.

should come with a mount to attach to a shark... frickin' laser beams.
They offer an accessory to fit upon the heads of ill-tempered sea bass.
@Dave Something- hilarious! This is an underrated comment!
