    ➡ I've been wanting to try this out for quite a while as I think it could be a great outdoor solution to using amps! Hope you find it useful.

      Really relevant topic for those who do outdoor gigs.
      Beware if the powerbank provides a modified sinus curve, it might harm your electronics.
      Go for a powerbank with a pure sinus curve (which the vtoman jump 1800 does). Unfortunately the pure sinus curve raises the cost to the double.

    I'm sitting next to a VHT Special 6 Ultra, six watt guitar valve amp, it's loud enough to play pub gigs with a sensitive drummer. Although it only outputs 6 watts, running at full power it will draw 33 watts. Five and a half times the output power. Your solid state amp will be significantly more efficient than my valve amp, but may well draw two or three times the output.
    In the days before these fancy power station battery/invertor set-ups, I used a standard car battery and 200 watt invertor to power a 2x50 watt PA amp. I have a battery powered Behringer mixer. We ran a bass and two guitars through battery powered preamps, and three microphones into the mixer. We had a pair of very efficient speakers, It was loud enough to play small outdoor gigs to between 20 and 60 people, and run for a couple of hours without noticeable power loss.
    The battery was a bit larger than yours at a little over 1 kwh, but could only run 200 watts as opposed to your 1500, but was still capable enough. You could probably run your smallest bass amp and a PA for Ukes and vocals using the power station. The other option would be to run everything through one of those BOSE compact PA systems which have a small subwoofer and a tower of around eight or ten 4" speakers clipped onto the sub. I saw a small local festival use one successfully with everything from folk artists through to a heavy metal band, with performance poets and a jazz band in the middle.
    I think that I need to buy a motorhome in order to justify the purchase of a suitable power station

      Loved reading this, very interesting. I had thought about a car battery / inverter set up in the past but never got around to it but yes, now the portable power stations are here it makes life so much easier.
      Your ending comment - same here, as soon as we got the camper van it was justified! 😂

    Good review. You can plug a multi-receptacle bar into it. A massive test would be to plug in an electric kettle or a toaster as they are both huge power hogs. A bass amp, the Acoustasonic with a uke, a mic and even another amp should be no problem for any gig. Especially a day gig when it's sunny with a solar charger. Happy camping/gigging. A

      Thanks Alan, and yes these things will power several power tools at the same time - impressive. I will push it more in the future but I no longer have any worries about powering amps. 👍

    Great for busking as well as gigs - just love how you find great equipment, will definitely look into getting it - beats lugging a car battery & transformer which I have seen some buskers use ! And it's solar !

      Yes definitely Titi, it was a top reason for wanting to try one. Maybe a slightly smaller one for busking but should work a treat! 👍

    When I first became the bass player for TUKU we were playing outside (pandemic avoidance) meeting in a public park with a veranda. There was one AC power plug which I needed for my Fender Rumble 40 amp. The next time we met the plug was turned off so all I could do was stand around and grin. 🤬 Then I found a power device at Sam's Club: AVIVA S180 rated a 120W AC. I found it worked well with the Rumble 40. Our group rountinely plays for about 2.5 hours using only about 15% of the AVIVA's capacity. The thing cost about $150 US, weighs about 5 pounds (2.25 kilos) and looks like a small beer keg 😉 It fits neatly in smallish canvas tool bag (along with all my cables). It has a single AC outlet, DC through USB 4 sockets and will take a solar panel for charging. It comes with a wall wart charger. I can play anywhere now!

      Awesome to hear you’ve been using a power station and that it works well with you Rumble 40! I hadn’t seen the Avila so have just checked it out, looks great. 😎

      The crazy part is that I already had the Aviva a month or so before I used it for the amp. (true confession 😬) I'm a ham operator and I bought it on a whim to use with ham radio stuff because of the USB ports. It sat on my dining room table (kinda forgotten). I subsequently purchased a small gasoline generator (it was still in the box, unopened) and while I was watching a video on how to use the generator (not that easy) there on the side of the RUclips screen was a teaser for a video on how to use one of those lithium battery power stations. I watched it and remembered that I had the Aviva collecting dust on my dining room table, duh. I returned the gas generator and the rest is history. 🤗@@UkuleleWales

    Thanks for the great video! However, I think the issue is that at that price, it doesn't make much sense, because a battery amp is about the same price. So it sort of defeats the purpose of looking for an alternative...

      @UkuleleWales  5 месяцев назад +1

      You make a fair point, however I generally need a little more than a battery amp for performances and if it means I can use my standard equipment (decent bass amp) I don’t need to put money towards another amp (which I won’t use very much). Having the campervan though did give me an excuse to at least try it out. 👍

      @@UkuleleWales Oh, absolutely, if you actually need the battery for other applications, then it definitely makes sense!

    Another really interesting video Rachel, not a lot a can add to something like this because I personally wouldn't have use for one but saying that I can actually see other situations for for an emergency power back up such has working outdoors with electric power tools; even with range of cordless tools available you sometimes need that extra kick from a powered tool ("May be not the best example?") ❤

      Glad you enjoyed Peter and yes, these have all sorts of uses and I have seen vids of this one powering some really power hungry power tools, 2 at a time! 😎

    I think it’s very interesting. I wonder if it could run the two amps with a microphone for a small picnic type venue. This is cool

      Thanks Mary. I would say yes in terms of power needed. For how long I’m not sure but I do intend to see what it is like for length of time usage soon. 👍

    Very helpful thanks. I would be interested to know how much power is drawn by the warwick bass amp when turned up to max volume without distortion or peaking. Ive read technical posts that say for a solid state amp multiply the amp power output x2 to give the ideal power bank output continuous wattage capability. (x4 for valve amps) I dont know if its true! Getting a 2300 watt output one would seem a safer option but I think they must take ages to charge up. Great video, many thanks.

      I will try and do so more tests soon with it. The Warwick is a difficult one as it would blast in a room that size and very big / heavy to carry outside BUT I have smaller rigs which are actually way more powerful than the Warwick (MarkBass, smaller Warwick rig, Barefaced/Genzler rig) which I will try out side when the weather gets better. 👍

      @UkuleleWales  11 месяцев назад

      I’m tempted to try a small / less powerful one now to see if it works as the amps I tried really didn’t use very much power at all. Let me know how you get on. 👍

    I was curious if there would be any sort of interference from the converter to AC, doesn’t seem so!

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Chris, no no interference at all. TBH I was surprised just how well it all worked and actually how little power the amps were using. Hope you are keeping well. 😊

    I have a Yamaha stage pass PA system that is 1000W, I play acoustic guitar, mic, and I have about three pedals including a looper. I’m wanting to busk on the street so I want to be fairly loud but do you think this would be a good option to consider? Or could I even go with a smaller/cheaper power generator? What do you think?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 месяца назад

      It is definitely an option, how long it will last for is something I can’t really answer. I tried to get solid info from the various companies who make these regarding how well they might work with sound equipment and I didn’t really get anything useful. I have actually just bought a smaller version but haven’t had a chance to test it with anything yet. Will try and make a video when I do. 👍
