      From how much i know this is called the Felt Upright Piano, and specific thing about them is that in between the hammers and the strings is a thin but long piece of felt (which is mostly the textile material) that is used to dampen the sound of the hammers hitting the strings which creates the 'old' or muffled sound to it. And if you get someone like Olafur to play it, that sound like magic.

    • @HauschildAndreas
      @HauschildAndreas 2 года назад +1

      It’s an Andreas Christensen pianette. He was a Danish piano builder who built a lot of these in the 50s and 60s. They’re wonderful instruments but very affordable. If you ever visit Denmark you can probably get a used one for a few hundred dollar 😊 There’s a reason we’ve been called the happiest people in the world, you know 😉

    • @fjrsm
      @fjrsm 2 года назад +2

      @@HauschildAndreas Thanks very much! I also asked around on the Ólafur Arnalds discord and got some interesting info.
      I found a vintage Scandinavian furniture store in Portugal that's selling one of these, but no idea what condition it's in. Plus, I'd imagine it would be nowhere near "a few hundred dollars", that's insane!
      Guess I gotta visit sometime...
      Great sounding pianette in your videos as well, by the way!

    • @HauschildAndreas
      @HauschildAndreas 2 года назад +1

      @@fjrsm Great to hear that you found out more about it!
      Logistically it would probably be easiest to find one close-ish to where you live :) And if you visit transporting it back home could probably more than make up for what is saved in buying expenses? I don't know what they cost outside of Denmark so perhaps it could still be worth it?
      And thank you so much! It's actually an Andreas Christensen too but a different model. It used to belong to my grandmother and I got it from her. I was so surprised (and stoked! :D) when I later on learned than Ólafur uses a piano by the same builder!

    Questo è un bellissimo esempio di commistione tra diverse esplicazioni dell' arte: il senso delle immagini si sposa pienamente con quello della musica.
    Dalla parete di luce inquadrata da dietro gli archetti appare un mondo esterno vivo ma rarefatto, a sottolineare il tono intimo della musica. Sembra quasi piovere e il contrasto con la sensazione di calore che dentro invece dona il parquet è poetico.
    È un video che esalta i contrasti anche nel mondo "interno", dove quello che è visibilmente un capannone industriale è reso confortevole e "casalingo" da mobili e piante. È come dire che anche al di qua della vetrata, nel mondo interiore, ci sono aspetti variegati che ci caratterizzano, che anche in noi ci sono contrasti ma in quel momento, permeato dal senso di pace della musica, an he i contrasti sono in accordo.
    Lo stesso binario per il carrello lasciato visibile, che si prende il suo spazio visivo, contribuisce benissimo a dipingere questo quadro. L'inquadratura non nasconde, lascia vedere, anche il binario, anche gli archetti, perché tanto puoi anche sapere che fanno parte di una struttura scenografica creata apposta, ma quando la macchina da presa ci passa sotto e cambi soggettiva quello che vedi è bello lo stesso e che stia passando sotto una struttura creata apposta non ti passa neanche più per la testa.
    Questo video, questa musica mi danno il senso di un momento di piacevole pausa, del senso di pace che si può provare seduti a sorseggiare una bevanda calda mentre tutto intorno continua nella sua corsa. Il movimento di macchina intorno ad Arnalds e al pianoforte rafforza la sensazione di centralità che viene fuori da un momento del genere e anche il non mentirsi, l'essere chiari e mostrare scenografia e mezzi di ripresa lo fa.
    Anche l'utilizzo della luce mi sembra perfetto, l'atmosfera è perfettamente fusa con il vibrare delle note nell'aria.
    Mi piace molto
