- Guitars of the Day! Taking a look at 2 of the new 2024 ESP guitars: the reinvented LTD EC-1000 in gloss black that replaces THE abalone and EMG one that defined the metalcore of my childhood, and the (almost) matching Viper-1000, both with direct-mounted gold Fishman Fluence Moderns.

Just checked Sweetwater and fear not, Schecter's EMG & abalone af red quilt Hellraisers remain unkillable 🤘
they sell too many to ever pull it from production, pretty much every metal guitarist I knew growing up had one
The Hellraiser is probably the best guitar for metal on the market rn
Just who is buying these guitars? I havent seen one playing a abalone guitar in almost a decade.
Its not les paul
@@xMaoxoaMx14 year olds and trailer trash probably.
I still use my EC-1000 to this day. This video is making me feel old lol
love your Halo content bro. i actually made a comment on one of your vids not long ago about spotting your eclipse in the background 😅
Wait a second aren’t you a gamer I never knew you had a guitar
I totally remember these. Back in the day, these were ready to rock out of the box at a good price point....plus ESP gave these out like candy to artists.
The most metal guitar I own. Sad to see its production coming to an end.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 "metal"
@@amillionwormsyeah metal, grandpa
The satin black EC-1000 with the gold binding is still in production and it was also popular within metalcore guitarists.
That was the one for me. I got my abalone fill from my schecter hellraiser. Simpler times indeed.
I had the Amber Sunburst way back when they came with Sperzel locking tuners & an Earvana compesated nut but no Splitting which was fine cause no one was offering that in 03. I got so many compliments about the abalone.
I was finna shed a tear but DAMN that viper is SNAZZY
Abalone binding and inlays are the best and more companies need to utilize them!
They are so cool but i prefer the old satin one with emg's.
EC1000VB and then they released the EC401VB which looked the same :D
Yeah and it's cheaper and it feels good also
RIP. I love those gaudy 2000s guitars.
This is tragic. Emgs are awesome
Fluence Moderns are basically clearer sounding EMGs.
@@Tomcat82 as an owner of both, they sound exactly the same. The only difference is visual
Anyone remember that esp strat Kirk Hammett played in the one music video we need that as his next signature.
I’ve never liked the abalone inlayed guitars from ESP/LTD or Schecter. They always looked so tacky to me. I think the real classic is the EC1000 in matte black, aged binding and gold hardware.
Sales determine everything and the numbers says people are done with tons of abalone.
No not really
Means I can finally buy something with abalone then😂
THAT'S AN INCREDIBLE SOUNDING GUITAR!!!
I was literally about to trade in my 2011 black and gold ec-1000 w EMGs today after buying new all those years ago. I’ve been everywhere and done everything with that thing. Last night while playing it after a good time of it being on the end of the rack, I said what am I thinking this thing is always gonna be a classic 🤔🙇♂️🤴❗️
I saw so many of these at Metalcore shows, and the kid I taught even got one in Vintage Black that I’m forever envious of. RIP to a real one
Wow, just bought this for Christmas. Glad I got ahead of the discontinuation. Incredible axe
Yeah that makes it a keeper I think. As long as they stay discontinued it should be collectible
I always liked these guitars, they looked so dope and all the ones I’ve tried out played great but the new versions definitely look nice as well
I like the new version better. Always hated all that abalone. A little is fine as long as it's understated but that was a bit much.
I'm glad to have mine.
I have an LTD mh 1000 see thru blue with the abalone and it’s the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever seen or had. I actually had one seven years ago and sold it like an idiot and found one on reverb used a few years ago. I’m surprised they did away with that look, people complained on forums about how it looked but no BS they look amazing imo. I also have a 7 string red hellraiser
1.) Ply binding > abalone
2.) Fishman > EMG ...especially now that Moderns are coil-split capable
3.) Direct mount > pickup rings... at least on this guitar. I think ringless provides a cleaner look regardless, but here it seems to have the added benefit of getting ESP to finally position the bridge pickup closer to the bridge. Not only will closer proximity to the bridge help make the 24-fretted EC-1000's face look less squished, it'll provide a clearer and more aggressive tone in the bridge position.
There's no actual difference between fishman and EMG pickups when it comes to sound. People keep talking about various pickup brands but they've never actually made a difference.
@@getshwiftygaming447 Hey y'all! We got right here a Glenn fricker butthole sniffer 😂😂
Will forever be my favorite guitar! 🎸🎸
When i was a beginner player, my local guitar center had a black and gold ec-1000 that I played EVERY time I went there.
Nowadays im not as big a fan of LP shapes, but I still have a soft spot for those ec-1000s
some of these are still with some retailers in the UK, don’t know what the situation is like elsewhere though.
I got myself an EC1000 purple burst and i love it. Im really looking to get a 7th strings Viper
This is 15 years overdue. When guitars with abalone were all the rage, so were spinning hubcaps, tramp stamps, and Affliction shirts. The early 2000s were a weird time.
Yet still much better than today I feel
I have an EC1000 Deluxe FR in Reindeer Blue ... Upgraded with Fluence Classics , Original FR trem with Titanium block and lock inserts..... Long live the EC
This is what I like with ESP: consistency. Unlike Fender, they don't discontinue stuff after a year. Guitars usually stays years, even decades sometimes on the lineup
Love the viper lol
Start of the video when you said they not producing these anymore my heart stopped man😢 but new ones look sexier then ever😍😍
Man, that viper 1000 looks killer!
i have a 2007 EC-1000 that i snagged for $600 around 2 years ago. amazing playing guitar for the money. it also came with a hard case!!!!!!!
I fell in love with the EC 1000 deluxe in amber sunburst, like the old model with the 'mother o pearl' binding on the fretboard. It's a shame that the new models don't have that
Lmao my day has come I love this finish so much more, I never bought esp/ltd but I’m getting this one and so stoked!
Just got this guitar in a trade. One of the best guitatd on my rack.
I love the vipers 🐍🥰
Love the new viper
Purchased a used ESP E2 BB recently. Similar looks to the new stripped down esthetic which I prefer. IMO the best option from the old EC 1000 series was the sunburst with the Duncan pups. The abalone was so ridiculous. To each his own though!
I love the new viper, but the old ec 1000 was so much better
Nice pfp
@@DaMustainethanks nice username
Metallica>Megadeth
@@AL3X1KUS that moment when you are too childish to realize that metallica and megadeth stopped their rivalry 30 years ago
Ryan Sitowski 🤘🏻
That viper though 😊
The new models look incredible though
That was a fine guitar but I would love to try that new model. Love me some fishman
Love how you threw in a picture of Ryan from Motionless :)
R.I.P. Abalone LTD 1000's. I had a 2004 MH-1000, Red Quilt Top, Abalone EVERYWHERE (see my pic, which ironically has not changed since i joined RUclips lol). I put a Red & Black Coil Duncan Distortion in the Bridge. It sounded great, but the playability could've been better. It had an Earvana Compensated Nut, which i despised. And the width at the nut felt waaaay to narrow for my taste. Sold it a long time ago, but it holds the nostalgic value of my days playing local shows in my area.
Even in the mid 2000s that abalone was the only reason I kept looking at other models 😂
LTDs are a working musician's best friend. You can leave your expensive axes safe at home or the studio, take your LTD wherever, and still kick ass and throw yourself around without too much worry.
That explains why I didn’t see it on their website earlier. Of course the day I looked for it, it’s been discontinued lol. Should’ve bought it at that pawnshop.
The only thing that stopped me from buying the red or black ec1000 was the hideous fake abalone. The new red maple top with normal binding looks so much sexier!
Closest I got was my 401 but w fishmans it's a machine
I've never looked at these close up before, they're so pretty with that binding. I bought an F-250 years ago and it put me off ESP guitars. I think I need to have another "visit" to the brand
Mine is red😊
I'd miss the old inlay and binding but fair swap
I purchased a ec1000 delux in 09 i paid 360 at a pawn shop..il be holding on to it till the day that im gone
I owned a viper 1000 for 15 minutes. Got it home and realized how bad the neck dive was, i went back to my gibson SG’s. Which people say have neck dive, yet not of my 3 do. Hmmm. Visually i like the viper more. But i traded it for another 4x12 cab
So much better
Man theyre going through a direct mount obsession the past few years.
That abalone was ridiculous
Esp is the shit for metal
my first big time guitar, regret selling it to this day
The new one looks a million times better
Good lol. Nothing makes a good guitar feel lower quality than abalone. That and the bad quilt maple veneers kept me from buying 2000’s era Schecters.
Oh damn production came to an end on this? I just picked one up brand new!
Too bad your videos aren’t more in depth because you have a great voice for this. Ty
Man I don't get the fishman fluence hype
the two extra voices
More clarity then EMGs in lower tunings as well and I am an EMG fanboy
Same. Every metal guitar now sounds the same because of it, I'm sick of it truth be told.
No! We need MORE abalone! More!
wait they took away the head, neck, and body inlays so it should be cheaper right? but it's more expensive... doesnt make sense.
GOOD!!! I love that guitar, but absolutely HATED all of the damn abalone on that thing, it was so gaudy. It looked like a hooker and a guitar fell into a blender, and that was what came out. Good day for me, but sorry for your loss, Hunter!
Finally
That was my first real guitar, still have it.
Wow..i still havent bought one but i wanted too cause its my favorite looking guitar. Wanted seymoyr duncans...smh
Still got one myself, prolly never get rid of it
You can hear the sadness in his voice 😢
Oh, phew. I thought it was altogether discontinued for a sec
Hol up whats that silverburst guitar at the end? It looks similar to a Woodrite Warlord or First Act DC.
Never understood why the don't make a guitar with an EMG 81tw-x and an 89x in the neck. Would be versatile as fuck and more modern and would still have an classic emg metal feeling to it.
EMG feeling? Pickups have a feel?
@@getshwiftygaming447 Every Pickup has a feeling. Not that much related to the sound. It's more about the attack, how much it reacts to the pick and so on.
@@thb219 i disagree about that. I've played SDs, fluence, EMGs and just about every stock pickup under the sun and they all are so similar in sound and "feel" that brands are irrelevant to me. I personally feel like the attack comes mostly from your choice of pick and the speaker you're running through. Ive never noticed tonal shifts when switching pickups but attack, tone and response are definitely dependent on the pick and speakers you use in your set up.
I like the more subtle look but I was never big on the more showy guitars.
I stayed away from the LTD 1000 Series because of the gaudy abalone binding and inlays. I have bought 3 LTDs, two 1000 Series, zero abalone.
It doesn’t look gaudy like a hellraiser no more yay!
Abalone is gaudy as hell
Black and gold/yellow was always the metalcore guitar. We're still safe
They have plenty of other models. No loss.
No I don’t get the abalone hate I think it looks great on black or white guitars either one but I guess it can be gaudy but I’ve always liked it
Never saw the hype behind these guitars, they're fine but for the money I've never found ESP ltd guitars to be anything to look at twice.
i was gonna get a ec-1000fr but they discontinued it sadly
I wonder if still gonna do 401qm
Have you done an episode on caparison guitars or ruf
I still have my vintage black ec1000! By the way, anybody know if there's an ec1000 with Fishman Fluence Moderns and an Evertune? I'm looking at the Sir Headly or Ken Susi models, but I'd rather have an ec.
I had the poor man's ec600. Same electronics but no perloid binding. it was better than my gibson guitars 😂
Replacement looks better (but I hate Fishman pickups)
Are fishman's that good? Or has esp just ended their partnership/supply deal with emg or something?
As long as the EC-1000VB with EMGs stays I'm cool. That's my shit lol
They look almost exactly like the Les paul and the SG
My guitar looks like that but red
It's still virtually the same but with Fishman's
I hate the direct mount pickups.
I agree. Pickup rings offer easy adjustability and are more secure. Direct Mount looks clean but holes can strip and aren't worth that trade off IMO.
@GuitFiddlerOntheR00F rings are easy to adjust, easy to clean, and just look right. I don't want my single cut, face melter to look like a bass.
In the same way one wakes up randomly liking telecasters… it seems abalone got the opposite
Talks a lot of shit about Schecter using too much abalone but praises ESP for there’s 🤷♂️
